This has been annoying me for a long time, the price difference in the R1 (USA) and R2 (European) Discs. I'm lucky enough to have a multi region player so I can pick and choose. Here is something I found on Play.com. The prices are in Pounds as well thats my currency. If anyone has any other price comparisons for Buffy and Angel Only please feel free to post them.

Angel Season 1 - R1 £35.99, R2 £59.99
Angel Season 2 - R1 N/A, R2 £59.99
Angel Season 3 - R1 N/A, R2 £59.99

Btvs Season 1 - R1 £21.99, R2 £33.99
Btvs Season 2 - R1 £35.99, R2 £59.99
Btvs Season 3 - R1 £35.99, R2 £59.99
Btvs Season 4 - *R1 £35.99, R2 £59.99 Due for release 10/6
Btvs Season 5 - R1 N/A, R2 £57.99
Btvs Season 6 - R1 N/A, R2 £57.99 * Due for release 12/5

Now bare in mind that play is one of the cheapest places for DVD's. The rrp for the new released Buffy/Angel discs are actually £79.99 (around $125.60)

Yes we do get the discs before the USA which many may think why is she moaning, she gets it before us...i've never understood why they do that since its an american show. But should we really have to get ripped off like this just to have them first! I know which region i'll be buying anyway!
 
That's really strange. I can't think of one good reason for the price difference. And I certainly wouldn't be dishing out that much money for DVDs! Is there any difference in the actual content on the DVDs? Do the R2 DVDs have more extra features, perhaps?
 
R1 Season 2 Angel dvd will be $44.99. I saw it at amazon.com. I don't know why the dvd's for Buffy and Angel are so expensive for UK viewers. I think that the companies just want to be rat bastards and jack up the price. Anything to make a buck. 😡 😡
 
Crazy, I myself just rent the DVDs and have my friend burn them for me. Saves a whole lotta cash, though I dont get the fancy packages...
 
Good old rip off Britain. 🙁 🙁 Still, I'd rather pay the UK price and get them earlier.
 
remember, 17.5% VAT among other dodgey little hidden taxes on our goods 🙁 but things are getting better, Dark Angel S1 was released at £54 which isn't much of an improvement but it's still an improvement...

Fox Entertainment aren't going to change the prices of the sets since people are buying them at the current price... I myself fear the day that I fall behind on buying my Box Sets, so far I've managed to keep up with the X-Files releases but I still need Buffy S4 and 5 with S6 on the horizen 🙁 and Angel S3 need that too.... It's just soooo expensive....

Put it this way even if they, two seasons of Buffy will be released this year, along with Dark Angel S2 and Angel S4 not to mention X-Files S7 and if you believe the rumours Roswell, Charmed, Alias and Smallvile on their way...

So lets give fox the benefit of the doubt.

Buffy S6 + S7 = £140
Angel S3 + S4 = £140
X-Files S7 = £70

Now for the newer titles at Dark Angels new Price:

Dark Angel S1 + 2 = £110
Alias S1 = £55
Charmed S1 = £55
Roswell S1 = £55
Smallville S1 = £55

That's £680 for the year alone... might as well start paying the darn council tax 😀 and that's not withstanding other tv show type releases or the fact that some of the above could be released at £70 or £80 a pop....

It's a nightmare I tell ya... a nightmare 🙁
 
Wahhhh!!! You're going to be able to get Charmed S1, Roswell S1, and Smallville S1 soon?!?! That's it!! I'm moving to the UK.😛 😛 Here in the states, we may get to see Smallville S1 by Fall 2004 but that's just speculation. We don't know what's the hold up on Charmed S1, but Roswell is having music license issues. 🙁
 
Those three titles are all speculation at the mo... Alias was supposed to be out by the end of last year but was pushed back to god knows when... although as Fox Entertainment finish up with buffy and Angel, as well as other shows, they have said new releases will be in the pipeline soon after 😀 and one of those three if not two, will be availible...
 
Oohh I want Roswell!!! 🙂 Eventually I'll have to buy the Buffy DVDs. Maybe they'll be on sale in 10 years....

Sorry to hear about that. In the states, I think that Alias 1st season is coming out later on this year. I can't remember the month, but it is this year. I'm really surprised. Most of the time they wait until a show is close to or at 5 seasons and then has been syndicated in order to release dvd's. I still don't understand the hold up with Charmed. A lot of people want the dvd's. Maybe they will get their act together soon!! hehe😉 😉
 
A friend who works at HMV (canadain music store) just got me the First Season of Angel for free. It got returned and the Manager gave it to him for taking a shift or something. Hehe lucky me, finally some legit DVDs.
