Help DVD : Region Problem

I bought BtVS season 6 DVD from US. I played it on my laptop many times. And one day, my laptop said...

"CAUTION You can change the region a limited number of times. After Changes remaining reaches zero, you cannot change the region even if you reinstall Windows or move your DVD drive to a different computer."

My laptop's current region is Region 3 and the DVD is Region 1. I guess I used all of the changes remaining. My Changes remaining is 0 now. That's why I can't watch S6 anymore. 🙁

I know it's hard to solve this problem. I tried to google to find the solution, but it didn't help. So if you guys know what to do, please let me know. :

I'm pretty sure that VLC player is Region Free. It should be able to get you past that block. It's totally free, safe, and it's the only media player I use for video nowadays. You can get it here, see if it works: VLC media player - Open Source Multimedia Framework and Player

Eeek. I already installed VLC. I chose "Open Disc" option, but it didn't play. What should I do?

Hmm, it should just work. Make sure it's trying to open a DVD (there should be three little options), double check it's looking at your DVD drive (Usually D: or E🙂, and maybe try checking the No DVD Menus box. Apart from that, I'm not really sure.

It still doesn't play. It said "DVDRead could not read -1/4 blocks at 0x01".

And how do I set up the 'Auto play'? I'm so bad at using computer programs. And thank you both of you very much. 🙂

Hmm on my computer there's a little box that comes up every time I put in a DVD with a list of Players I can play it on. Then at the bottom there's a link that says "set auto play". Or I think in My computer you can right click and do it through that, at least you can on mine.

There's a few different wee programs you can get that decrypt DVDs as you put them in, so the region lock is overlooked altogether. That's what I do. I dunno if I can post about them here though.

I downloaded DVD Decrypter, but it didn't work with .VOB files. I don't know if I did something wrong.

I never even thought of playing it on a computer, the screen is way to small. Have you tried to watch it on the television?
I had to buy the film Quatermass and the Pit from Britain as it isn't available in this country. Britain is a region 2 country and I live in a region 4 country. So I had to put a new code in the DVD player so that I could watch it. I typed in - DVD region codes - on the internet address bar stated what DVD player I had, make and model. The DVD player now plays DVD's from any region.
Have you contacted the manufacturer of the lap top, find out who makes the DVD player in it, contact them and see if they have any solutions. If they can't help you, suggest they make a region free DVD player to increase their sales, businesses like ideas that can make them more money.

Thanks, ILLYRIAN. But I can't do such a way you told me. 🙁 I live in a dorm without tv. And I'm not in my home country where I bought my laptop. Good thing is, my DVD player there doesn't have this problem. I guess the best way is, go back there and ask the manufacturer. 🙂
