DVD Regions

I hope this is the right place to put this.

Anyway, i was just wondering if anyone can tell me just how versatile DVD's are. See i am technically inept, and i live in the USA, where only seasons 1-4 of Buffy are out on DVD, and like many have noticed, the extras are not as applauded as other regional releases.

I'm getting to the point. Will my DVD player play anyother regions? (It's not special or anything). And, do they make dual zone/ region DVD players?

If you purchased your DVD player in the US, then it's a region 1 player and won't be able to play Region 2 (UK) dvds. There are numerous "region free" DVD players available for purchase online. You will also need one which is a dual PAL/NTSC player, unless you happen to have a multisystem television that can play both formats (which I'm sure you don't - almost no one does). The caveat is that region free players are expensive. Most are in the $350 - $500 range (US dollars), more than three times as expensive as regular DVD players.
Check out www.codefreedvd.com and zonefreedvd.com to see some of whats available. Both of those sites have some useful explanations to help you beter understand regional differences and make the right purchasing decisions.

I got a R2 DVD player but I've hacked it (many people do) to play multi-region. I was thinking you could do it for yours possibly.
