DVDs missing scenes!

eddy over at whedonesque explained that his discs don't have all the scenes, and is missing dialouge here and there (that was there when the ep aired)

"The scene of Angel in caritas freaking out over Cordy at the beginning of the episode is missing from the DVD. It was on the original airing(and I have VCD copies of Season 2 to know this) but was shaved off of the DVD I imagine as a mistake to edit out the previously on sequence. There are a few other episodes where cutting out the previously on messes up the beginning of the episode too. I think A New World and Apocalypce Nowish's openings were ruined by the editing but OVER THE RAINBOW is the one that is glaringly altered. My one wish if there is ever a special edition or blu-ray of the Buffy/Angel series is for the previously-ons to be put back on the episodes so all these little glitches will be fixed.

Cordy wakes up in the woods on Pylea.

Wesley looks around the club for Cordy, Angel is searching behind the stage curtains.
Wesley: "Cordy?"
Angel: "Cordy?"
Wesley: "Oh no. Oh my god, no. How could I've let this happen?"
Angel: "No. She's here somewhere. She's just hiding. Cordy! Cordy!"
Wesley: "Angel."
Angel: "What?"
Wesley: "She's gone. - Cordy's been sucked into the portal. She's in the host's dimension now."
Angel to Lorne: "Where's Cordelia?!"

The members discussed that this must be because the region 1 version don't have the previous on clips, thus causing sloppy editors to have edited out dialouge (this Angel scene seems to be the worse tough).

Its because you still have the previously ons. R1 buffy and angel dvds do not have the 'previously on..' section of the episode.

Yay for my Swedish region 2 DVDs. That scene was pretty important for the Cangel relationship, showing how upset Angel was over Cordy going missing.

The only scene I ever noticed was missing was in Dead Mans party Buffy Season 3, there is a scene during the big house fight where a zombie bursts through the window and snaps one of the kids necks, I remember watching it on TV,

But it isn't there on the DVD.

That scene is on my DVD, I just watched that episode last night. Also, my DVDS feature some of the previously on sequences.
 
Do both off you have region 2 DVDs? In that case, maybe the editing is different between region 2 editions as well.
 
Great. I bet my Swedish region 1 DVDs have missing scenes as well. I do have that season 3 scene, but I bet something else is missing. I wonder if there's any version that's safe.
 
I have both those scenes aforementioned. But I do know the part in "End of Days" where the bomb explodes was accidently cut out because of the "Previously On" segment being edited out.

Region 1 or 2?
If they ever put out Blu-Rays it'd be nice of over 12 seasons we got more than just two deleted scenes as well. Season 1 DVDs have a few 'previously on's kept on them, in most cases pretty random ones too. I think Angel S5 has two or three of them.
 
Even though it shows up later on, I dont understand what they were thinking when cutting out the previous segment recapturing the previous 99episodes for The Gift. That was part of the appeal.

My DVD's have it. Love that previously.
On my Thai DVD, I don't have the scene when Buffybot went to Parent Teacher fest with Dawn in Bargaining Part I. I mean, only the part where they walk together and see a robo plane floating and Buffybot said something weird and Dawn pretends to laugh and tells the guy she's funny that way. Instead, it goes right to the scene when they're in the room and B-bot raises her hand. I bought a region 1 DVD and found out about this. I didn't know there's gonna be many missing scenes as you guys mentioned above. 😱
 
I did some research and from I can gather the BtVS R1 DVD sets are fine. Nothing has been removed scene wise and a lot of the 'previously on' are still intact as well. ANGEL is where they screwed the pouch in the R1 sets. Here's a list of the changes I could find:

ANGEL - Season 1
Extra footage in "Somnambulist" has Cordelia saying "I believe in Los Angeles."

ANGEL - Season 2
Now common knowledge, that it was originally 1.33:1, although some incorrectly claim it was always wide-screen.
"Over the Rainbow" is missing the opening scene in Caritas.

ANGEL - Season 3
"That Old Gang of Mine" is missing Angel saying, "That night still haunts me."

ANGEL - Season 4
All the "Previously..." segments have been removed. Additionally, the opening two shots (after the previous material) of the episode "Habeas Corpses" have also removed.

Other region sets might be missing more or be perfectly fine but I find it irritating they couldn't leave the ANGEL sets alone. I actually like the 'previously on' segments.

Go for it! It's worth it, trust me. I owned the individual sets and bought the chosen collection just for the bonus materials. You'll enjoy it, I'm sure.
