Early Movie Memories

I don't remember the first movie I ever saw in a theatre. Is that odd? Does anybody? If you're like me, and don't remember the first movie you ever saw, what's your first movie memory?
 
I don't remember the first movie I saw in the theater, either. My earliest movie memories are of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Blob.....Star Wars....and Gone with the Wind, altho that one was on TV. As well as The Sound of Music. I know my mom took me to see Mary Poppins, so that may have been my first actual movie experience, but I have no memory of it whatsoever.....
 
Hm I dunno, but I know for a fact that we went to see the Disney movies around Christmas. The first one I really remember was the Lion King, and the reason I remember it is cause it was the first time I thought to myself "this was a bad movie"..
 
I don't know what movie was the first one I saw in a theater, but I have two pretty early memories. I remember watching a swedish movie called "Den ofrivillige golfaren" ("The Involuntary Golfer") with my dad and brother, not understand much at all. And I remember watching "Beauty and the Beast", and being really scared. According to imdb I was probably 6 years old when watching the swedish movie, and 7 when watching Beauty and the Beast.
 
I seem to remember it being The Fox and The Hound but I could totally have made that up.
 
The first movie I saw in theatres was Lion King. I went with my brother and my dad. Christ, how old would I have been. 4?
 
My mum took me to see The Little Mermaid...that's what I remember as being my first cinematic experience.

Having said that we used to go to the drive-in a lot but I don't remember a single movie we watched there.

Yup, the drive in was where I saw Star Wars for the first time.....
i cant remember what movie i saw at the movies first, but i do remember watching the teenage mutant ninja turtles movies, (the live action ones).
 
I'm much older than most of you, but my early movie memories concern the movies of Roy Rogers, and Tarzan, as well, of course, as the immortal John Wayne. It was a different age in movie content back then. Any member of the family could enjoy any movie, because they were all targeted for the entire family. The slasher movies and he drivel that passes for horror today doesn't hold a candle to the work of Lugosi, Karloff, and Chaney. It was much later that the "blood and guts" type of things became popular and the need to shelter our children from them became a necessity. Do I favor censorship? Unfortunately, it has become a necessity now, but I will always believe that the ultimate censorship should come from responsible parents, not some set of arbitrary rules set up by a bunch of self righteous self appointed "protectors of decency."
 
My earliest memories was seeing ET! when that was first out in the cinemas!

TV wise,Star Wars the originals of course! and Polterguist One, Two and Three, and Mary Poppins!
 
My first ever moviehouse experience came at age 7, when I was taken to watch some cutesy dog vehicle called Benji.

i don't know if it was the first movie saw at the theaters, but i have a really vivid memory of my mom taking my best friend and i too see Snow White when it was rereleased. (it must have been sometime between '89 and '91)
i remember it well, 'cause me and my friend got scared and spent the entire time hiding behind the seat in front of us and peeking out over the top, lol.
 
I feel like the first film I saw in the cinema was Casper The Friendly Ghost, but I could be making it up....maybe it was the Mario film. Can't be bothered to check which came out first.
 
One of my earliest movie theater experiences:

I wanted to see Toy Story. Sooooooo bad. But mom said we were going to see Jumanji. I cried and threw a tantrum and kept yelling "I WANNA SEE TOY STORY!!!!".

But I ended up loving Jumanji. It scared the CRAP out of me, when the huge spiders came I was shaking. The movie was awesome though, I remember I was literally shaking and trembling until we got halfway home, but I had forgotten Toy Story completely. And I had a new favorite movie.

When I finally saw Toy Story...I didn't like it very much. 🙂

I think my earliest memory was seeing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II Secret of the Ooze. And it's still one of my favorite movies to this day, haha!
