Ice Cube to star in Humbug, a Christmas Carol update
EW is reporting that Universal Pictures has acquired Todd R. Jones and Earl Richey Jones’ Yuletide-themed spec script Humbug, with Ice Cube attached to star and Tim Story to direct.

Envisioned as a contemporary retelling of Charles Dickens’ 1843 novella A Christmas Carol, Humbug would find Cube playing a Scrooge-like real-estate mogul who is shown a path to redemption by the ghosts of Christmases past, present, and future.

Humbug comes as the latest collaboration between Cube and Story, who made Barbershop, Ride Along, and the upcoming Ride Along 2 together.

While I think this might be a fun take on the story, like Bill Murray's Scrouged, I also don't need constant remakes and new versions of the story. It feels like every decade it gets a new movie. I guess it's to get new, younger audiences into the story. This should be pretty funny though. I have not seen all of Ice Cubes movies, but he's great in 21 and 22 Jump Street.

I didn't think many younger folks would be aware of Ice Cube! I mean considering NWA were around in the 80s. I guess he's kept familiarity by acting in films over the years but I wonder how many young people know of his roots (in music and not film).

I just meant they redo this movie every decade to introduce new people to the story, not necessarily Ice Cube himself. lol
