Echo - Being Eliza Dushku's new character, seems like a fairly versatile kiss ass character who is going to be in parts like Faith. This little fact I love! Eliza kicking butt and taking names like she did on Buffy is always going to attract me. I'm a little confused on some aspects of the character though. From what I've read, she will have her memory erased and made back up on a weekly basis.. so will she be a different character every week. I don't want to fall in love with her character only to have her be erased and replaced the next episode. How will they get around that? Or is she going to keep most of her 'essence' and personality?

Well I *think* between personalities she'll be trying to figure out who she really is. So I guess that's when we'll get the "real" Echo.
It will be interesting because Joss' shows are really centred on the emotional ties characters have with each other.. and just who they are.. so if we're seeing something different in every episode I'd imagine that'd be hard for any of us to really get a hold on something.
Love that we have a forum for this btw. Gets me excited for when the show actually comes out.

Even if she's a 'new' character all of the time, I think that would be great. Eliza is a very talented actress, so I think seeing her on one show acting out all kinds of different personalities has got be great.
by the way: Don't you think the name Echo is already a bit foreshadowing? (if we take the meaning of the word 'echo' and compare it with the storyline)

I wonder what the "real" Echo will be like. I mean it seems like it will take a while to get to know and really care for her if she starts out as basically a child.
I love the fact that each week she'll be a different person though. This show will be like...Alias meets Joss Whedon.
And JJ Abrams and Joss Whedon are my two favorite show creators. 🙂

I just know I'm going to get attached to one of her 'implanted personalities' lol!! Hopefully the real Echo will be so much more sweet, caring, or cool or something that ties down her character so when they go back to her she is different from the memories implanted in her. Like she will be finding herself and maturing as each episode progresses. That storyline will be awesome. Echo, the name would that imply that parts of these implanted memories will leak out and stay with her, or that part of her normal self will leak out on the implanted memories every now and then, or is it just a name?

Hmm, I just thought the 'job' she was doing would be erased. Maybe placed with other memories but not actually make her a different person or have a different personality. Now, I have to figure all this out cause I am confused. Alot.

lol well it's a good thing we are confused, because that means the show will have to resolve things in our minds and understanding... that's always a good start... :silly:
I do completely believe that it has a potential for a great show, although I still have my fears of a Quantum Leap remake - even though that show was great, I don't think I would like a remake -
I do believe that Joss will put an emphasis on the psychological aspect of the character, which would make it much more interesting than Quantum Leap... because I mean, her memory is "erased"... we're talking manipulation, rape of the mind kind of thing... and that idea definitely has potential.
And Eliza under Joss' direction can only be good... I mean as an actress she has so much talent, and although she hasn't always chosen the good movies to play in, we know for sure that Joss is a good catch... plus apparently they came up with the idea together, so they're bound to want to do their best on that show!!! Just can't wait now!!! :silly:

The job you do influences who you are. Or at least that's what I think. Just imagine you're someone who really can't see blood. So, naturally, you'd probably stay away from certain jobs like nurse, doctor etc. Now imagine your memory of everything was wiped out. Suddenly, with your new memory, you are a doctor. So you probably won't have a problem with blood anymore and couldn't imagine ever having one. Ergo, personality changed.
