Well I don't know...
If you are going to be a total different person you need to change your body language, look, voice and stuff like that.
Can't say I've seen much of that. It's mostly when she is in the blank doll state we see it. Which she does good enough for me.

On the other hand... I'm not sure she really needs to be such a chameleon for this role.
She still only plays one person. Sure it's a person with different memories and stuff. But that doesn't mean that a thing like your body language needs to be total different from your original personality.

I think Eliza is doing great for what I think is needed for the role.
Sure, there are probably lots of other actresses that would do the work just as good though.
But now it's Eliza and I like it. 🙂

Granted i was a little worried when i heard that working on Dollhouse would require Eliza to have a different persona each week...i just didn't think that she could pull off the whole innocent and helpless thing...but boy has she proved me wrong....week after week i find myself saying wow...and Joss really knows how to pick them doesn't he!!

I think Eliza is just good enough for me to enjoy her in the role. She isnt great but she isnt awful. Sometimes I do imagine other actresses (mainly SMG) in the role. But on a scale on 1-10, I would give Eliza a 7.5

I think she is a lot better when playing a confident 'action'-type role. Faith, obviously, and in Dollhouse the master thief chick I thought she did well, and when they imprinted her to be an assassin. I find her transitions into the blank slate mode so-so, but it seems to be getting better as we discover more about Echo as a character. I have to say though, for some reason the way she says "did I fall asleep?" drives me crazy and I'm not sure why...lol

^I agree with your assessment pretty much. I think she's a great actress, but her quirks are always recognizable.

Right on the money. I feel like there are a lot of great actors out there who have this. But the GREATEST actors can make themselves unrecognizable. Luckily, I like Eliza's little quirks!

This show is a chance for her to prove her critics wrong, ...........

As the saying goes, "those that can, DO.... those that can't CRITISIZE.... (or worse, TEACH)

I have liked her in every role.

Another thing is this "seeing her acting" thing, which I won't deny. But maybe her interpretation is that the "IMPRINT' needs a moment to meld with the BLANK slate personality.

I like the show. I'm not going to sit around cutting it up over the smallest details. Hell, if we all did that Star Trek wouldn't have lasted 3 episodes. I mean Shatner's acting in those days? C'mon.
