Eliza as 'Faith'

Y'know, I just feel horrible either way. I want Tru Calling to do well. I'll never forget when Nathan Fillion & Adam Baldwin posted on the Firefly board about being told Firefly had been effectively canceled and I don't ever want to go thru that with Tru Calling or have that happen to Eliza.

But... the one thing I've wanted more than anything is to see Faith the series. It would be the happiest day of my life if I found out that FTVS was happening.

I'm so conflicted.

And I'd hate for Tru Calling to either be a failure or just medicore and have the Faith series always held up as this thing she never did that would have been such a critical success at least, then have all the magazines and online writers ripping Eliza to shreds over not doing FTVS.

I just hope it avoids that, but with the timeslot and the lukewarm reaction from critics, it looks like the Faithful & Eliza are just going to keep getting the Faith spinoff slammed in our face every time we here about Tru.
 
I don't want the writers getting their claws into Faith ever again. They just about ruined my favorite character in any fandom. It was actually a relief when "Chosen" was over. I'm sick of people wanting TC to fail so they get a Faith spinoff - the worst bunch are those who want it just so Spike won't be on Angel. Eliza deserves better. Faith deserves better. She's finally found a sort of peace and acceptance and shouldn't be dragged back just because a network wants ratings.

I'm very scared that she will be.
 
I've only recently just started getting into "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" because of Eliza Dushku (Faith). I think Eliza is an awsome actress. I first saw her in "Bring It On" and then I saw "Soul Suvivors" and remembered her from "Bring It On" and she instantly became my favourite actress. My older brother whose been watching "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" both since they started told me that she was a slayer in that and so to make a long story short, I started watching both of those programmes and still do. Hopefully, "TC" will do well in the States and so they can start showing it here in the UK.
 
Faith rocks! I am going to miss her character on Buffy, luckily, it's possible it could come back to Angel or have that spin-off, which I was originally hoping for. Not that Tru Calling is going to be bad or I want it to fail... shutting up now.

I esp. like Faith's way of talking, everything sounds cool and fresh as she says it.
 
The writing for Faith has definitely hit rock bottom, i think she was well written when they first came up with the character and she was well written when she was on Angel both in the past and recently, but as soon as she stepped back into the Buffy universe she was written as the slutty slayer again, and i was very sad to see that. Hope fully if there ever is a Faith spin-off she'll have more depth and we'd get to see some of her past.

But as for now I hope TC does well and Eliza has major success with it.
 
I just love Faith..... she is my favourite slayer..... She and Spike........ rock the hause.....

well... in three episodes in 'Angel' ("release, salvage and orpheus) she was awsome!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Well i just love Faith and think ((like i read somewere before)) she very mysterious... does someone here ever know her last name???? i didn't.... but i got a real addict when i saw more of eliza's movies.... and after the disappointment not getting a spin-off well i really like that she is in a series now
 
I gotta agree with Cheebs here.. I dont want to see a Faith spinoff just so the networks can get their ratings.. I think, imo, what makes Faith so watchable is partly her mysterious nature... the fact we dont know *everything* bout what went on before she arrived in Sunnydale. We understand partly she has been deeply troubled but thats it.. yes there is much more to delve into with her character, much more that could be done with her.

In the end, i'd hate to see a Faith series end the way Buffy did.. where we all wished it stopped 2 years ago or something along those lines. I'd hate to wish that. It was nice to see Faith back for those 8 episodes and that she has 'grown' and 'matured' but still the strong slayer that she is.

I dont want a Faith spinoff.. I want to remember Faith the way I've seen her from S3 onwards.

A Faith series would have been hyped but may not have been a 'critical success' by any means.. that would need top writers like Doug Petrie who was always awesome at writing for Faith. This would have helped it along, but no show is ever guarenteed success...

TC sounds like its gonna be good.. and hopefully we will get at least a couple of good series out of it and that Fox will give it a chance.
 
I love the character Faith and Eliza is just great at playing her...i really want to see what she was like in boston before she came to Sunnydale and what happened with her watcher (he was killed wasn't he?)
 
it depends.....
if you think of Wesley, then he still alive (check Angel) but her watcher in Boston... yeah, I think he's dead.
 
Seems that I belong to the minority of people who don't like ED as Faith in BtVS. Mmh, don't like is in fact too strong but the way she acted in S3 always reminds me of a stupid, unpopular, jealous and wrong-thinking girl who was so attracted to the dream of being THE SLAYER... I have to confess being second next to Buffy and her Scoobie-Friends is pretty hard and unpleasant but turning to the dark side : scratch ... I don't know... I'm really twisted. Sure I understand who she felt, but ...

But the Faith who returned in AtS S4 was awsome. Still the "out-of-line-Faith" but imo more reflected and aware of everything she ever did.

oh come on..... there was always Buffy and Angel... she never loved Spike.... but Faith... she's been evil... she was on the dark site of life. she'd understand Spike. and that's why I think that they would be perfect couple...

I know, that many pple don't like this shipper, but I do.....

Concerning Angel and Buffy, mmh, this is really over. Of course they'll always love each other but no - I'm greatful that this suffering is over!!!

In fact Buffy will never love Spike the way a girl loves a boy but their relationship is so interesting and marvellous (and I don't mean the scenes in S6!!!) ... I really enjoy watching them! Looking for the perfect guy for Faith mmh... difficult *g*.

Okey... I need to agree with you about Robin.....
His cool, and they could make good relationship....
And I know, that between Buffy and Spike is somethind deep. I can understand that. But it's not love. It's kind of deep friendship with more physical contact....
next... know that Buffy and Angel is the past, it was obvious in "Sanctuary" (Angel) and "Yoko Factor" (buffy), but you know have this sentiment....

And you know. maybe Spike And Faith isn't good idea but after "Dirty Girls" I'm just obssesed with them as a couple. Can't do anything bout it.....
But I know one thing for sure. If not a couple they would be great friends........

I'm a definite Faithophile. In fact, I only started watching BtVS because of Faith, way back in Season 3. I loved how she was such a contrast to the Scoobies, and to Buffy especially, and I also loved Eliza's portrayal of Faith as having a darker side. She's so complex as a character; that was one of the things that drew me to her and kept me watching, I think.

As for how she's portrayed in Season 7...well...sigh...

Honestly, after Season 3, there were many other reasons why I continued watching and loving BtVS. *looks at avatar*

But now, in Season 7, I'm back to watching it merely for Faith. And that's not really how I wanted to end up. But hey, *shrugs*, I suppose that's the way it is now.
 
In my opinion Faith is the most interesting character on BtVS. I was fascinated from the first moment she appeared on the show. I think it's no surprise that S3 is my fav of all seasons. But her appearances on Angel were fantastic, too (if not better). I think Faith fits better in there. Maybe it's because the show is a little bit darker than Buffy. And I like the idea of Faith and Angel being together. I don't know, seems perfect to me. 😉 Faith and Spike? Eww!!! Don't wanna imagine"¦ 😉

Eliza did a great job playing Faith and that's the reason why I was a little sad at first that there'll be no Faith Spin Off. But now I'm really looking forward to her new show. Hope it'll run for a long time! 🙂
 
Honestly.... Her appearances in Angel (specially in last three) were awsome!!!! You're right Montana, she better fits to 'Angel'...

But I'm affraid that Faith will always affect to her (Eliza's) others roles...
 
What I'm disappointed with, in at least seeing the pictures of the Tru Calling pilot, is that the people working on Tru have Eliza looking just like Faith in Tru. Black tank top. Her hair is the same, make-up is the same.

Like Eliza has said, she is who she is. Faith is part of her, and she can't ever not be indentified as Faith.

But if she's so *not* Faith, if you've met her and looks so much different than Faith in person. The group of fans at her charity bingo event (which was while she was filming the Buffy finale, yet her hair looked very different than Faith's). But a lot of people also think she looks 4 years younger when her hair is more frizzy and she isn't wearing the blue eye shadow & all the make-up. That would be such a different & better look for Tru that would really differentiate Tru from Faith, but it doesn't look like they did it in the pilot.

I agree about Faith in Angel. She doesn't really belong in Buffy anymore. The Buffy eps might not have been the best, but if the Faith spinoff could have been like Faith's Angel episodes, we're really missing out on something. That's why I'd prefer that they would have left out all of the Buffy cast from the Faith spinoff (no Andrew or Dawn, for example).

But, I like the idea that Faith is out there with the gang on the school bus. The finale did end with Faith getting what she always wanted - a family & friends.
 
Faith has to go back to Angel at least one more time. There's so much more they could do with her character there.

I wish ED did do the Faith spinoff or a Buffy spinoff. I'll give the new show a chance, but I'd rather she did Faith. She'll always be Faith to me.
