Dushku busy with Fox TV
Studio, net have plans for actress

Eliza Dushku has inked a development deal with Fox Broadcasting Co. and 20th Century Fox Television.

Under the pact, said to be in the mid- to high-six figures, the network and the studio will develop projects tailor-made for the actress. They also will approach her with existing pitches and scripts.

"This is a business of instincts, and she's proved she can do it in two projects for us," Fox Entertainment chairman Peter Liguori said.

Dushku was the star of Fox's drama series "Tru Calling." This past development season, she stepped in to lead the ensemble of the network's pilot "Nurses" when the project changed creative direction after major casting had been completed. While the two projects preceded Fox's new entertainment president, Kevin Reilly, he also enthusiastically backed a deal with Dushku, Liguori said.

"Kevin and I think she's awesome," he said. "She's absolutely charismatic onscreen; she is riveting, she is fresh, she is smart, (and) she is unbelievably feminine while also having that toughness to her. She's a TV star, but most definitely we know she's a Fox star."

Dushku's history with 20th TV, which produced "Tru" and "Nurses," goes back even further than her relationship with Fox.

The studio cast her in her breakout role as Faith on WB Network's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," a role she reprised on the "Buffy" spinoff, "Angel," also for 20th TV.

20th TV chairman Dana Walden said Dushku was at the top of the list of actresses it wanted to pursue for development.

"First and foremost, she is a remarkably beautiful person inside and out," Walden said. "She is smart and thoughtful, there is soulfullness to her that shines from a mile away, and she is a pleasure to work with. She is also tremendously versatile -- she has a great comedic talent and can handle deeply emotional material."

On the big screen, Dushku next appears in "Nobel Son," opposite Bill Pullman and Alan Rickman, and in "Sex and Breakfast," opposite Macauly Culkin and Kuno Becker.

She is repped by the Gersh Agency.

Ohh yes, I want to see her more often. And that sounded very odd.
I would love a new show with her. I wish it could have been a faith spinoff if it wasn't too late for that.

i highly doubt we'll see a Faith show, but it is nice to know that she'll be back on our screens soon!

So im confused what is the deal. Is it for a new show? I heard she was doing one called Nurses and its like a comedy or w/e but the pilot didnt get picked up. So what is she signing on with FOX for? another show or a job at FOX.

i think it probably means shes going to be in a show for FOX. It looks like 'Nurses' didnt get picked up like Panda said. Shes just going to be in another show.

And its very cool to see her again in something. YAY!

Yay =]
Weekly Eliza

hope it gets aired in the UK though, whatever it is... I don't really like watching things on my laptop lol

wonder what it could be though...

Definitely looking forward to this. I have just started rewatching Tru Calling (to be fair I haven't even seen half the episodes before), and it's actually alright.. More importantly, it makes me miss Eliza on TV shows. So yayness for this.

um i'm guessing they didn't like how nurses turned out so they canned the show but kept eliza. maybe it was bad casting in the other roles? that's weird to turn down your pilot but sign you for other deals. haha fox *rolls eyes*

Hundreds of pilots that networks might actually consider GREAT are not picked up each season. It has less to do with the quality of a show than what the network feels it needs and what it thinks it's audience wants. And "Nurses" has has its cast options extended so FOX could still pick it up for midseason.

FOX obviously likes Eliza, they liked her as Faith, they liked her in Tru Calling, and they must have liked her in Nurses. The idea is just to keep her around so when they can find something for her, she'll be on FOX. If she gets a show next season and it gets canceled they'll probably cast her in another show.

Personally I don't want "Nurses" to be picked up...I hope they develop another show for her this development season.

I think it makes sense to sign her up, I suprised they don't do it for all the buffy cast, cuz it usually happens that when one of the cast gets signed up for a show, allot of Buffy fans will tune it to check it out, just cuz a paticular cast member.

The way fox is all loving the Eliza, If Joss came to them with a Faith show 😉 then instead of a 1% chance there might be a 50% chance!! >.< If dollhouse does pan out that is >.< of course

The other 50% would be up to Eliza herself... She was offered the chance to do a Faith spin-off, but declined (don't know why! It would've done SO well...) But, we can still cross our fingers, dream and wish and hope and... Wait! Haha.
