Not ALL women. *I* think they're a bunch of idiots jumping on a publicity bandwagon.
I dont know much about all this - some of the stuff Trump has said is no worse than what our aussie pollys have. But the news showed a bunch of mums there with kids at the rallys and the why are you here? question "I want to show my child no one can treat you like that" as she cuddles some kid oblivious to what is going on.
I used to think it was not suitable to be called a "see you next tuesday" at work - or to be yelled at, denied toilets/breaks, to be pushed about or groped at staff parties - but its just the real world. I wish I had been better prepared rather than expecting higher standards from men.

You don't rate the quality of the protest? I haven't looked into it in much detail but I like the idea of people being out on the streets, even if it's just to show this isn't being accepted as the new normal.

I agree. Normally I do take the line that people should accept the vote. This is a little different though for the reasons already highlighted. As long as its a peaceful protest then I don't see the issue. There is of course a problem if they are getting in the way of regular people who have nothing to do with the issue.
Think this was part of my point in the other thread. I'm sure there are protesters who did it for the wrong reasons and are just looking for attention. But when it is so many all over the world then its fair to say a lot of them will be doing it for the right reasons too.

I just think there is such a level of hypocrisy going on. I don't like Trump either. Sexism is a terrible thing and I think it's a good cause and whatever but it's still mass blindness. It's like the "cool" thing to care about today, I think you should care about sexism everyday, but most of these women will give themselves a pat on the back, go home and do absolutely nothing to further the cause or any other. 80 people or something like that turned up to the United Against Child Abuse rally - so like, **** anything that hasn't been given the mainstream nod of approval and doesn't affect their privileged asses directly.
Are these women going to march in solidarity with Yemeni women who are being killed by a Saudi-led genocide with weapons purchased from the USA and UK? Every five minutes a child is being killed out there.
Would there have been these marches had Hillary Clinton won? Hillary Clinton who supported and allied with Saudi Wahhabism that flings gays off rooftops, enlists female children into marriage, chops off limbs, beheads (practically whoever they want), and stones to death innocent children and mothers?
The hypocrisy is blaring. So yeah, enjoy the selfies, white middle class women of the world.

But those Yemeni women are poor AND foreign, therefore absolutely no one cares. Obama and Clinton are lauded for being so right on and progressive, when they sell weapons to the insanity that is Saudi Arabia, and operate from an actual *kill list*. At least Trump is obviously bad, unlike those charlatans.

I see where you're coming from but I'm not sure I'd call it hypocrisy. There's so much wrong with the world that's it's impossible to get involved in every protest, even if you do agree with the cause. I think that tends to be a good excuse for critics to ignore everything as well:
"You're protesting about issue A but what about B and C? You're a hypocrite and I'm going to ignore you and conveniently also issues A, B and C."
There is something to be said for this. He may as well be spitting in the face of the electorate at the moment. I'm not sure what more it would take for people to see how broken the whole system is.

Most of the issues I mentioned are just ignored though, full stop, for other narratives to gain momentum. You don't have to show up anywhere to talk, and therefore spread awareness.
Like the point about the child abuse rally; same goes for welfare sanctions that hit women and children, closure of children's services, ending adult education, closure of rape crisis centres, homeless shelters, etc, etc, etc. There should be masses of these women, SPECIFICALLY THESE WOMEN, out rallying against this. So yeah I do think it's hypocritical, when they go home after their yearly rally and turn a blind eye to the issues affecting poor women across the globe (because those protests won't be on TV, will they?).
It feels more like a political/institutional power grab than a matter of what's truly at stake for womankind. It's like mass mind control, it's actually very worrying.

What I saw was a large number of (mostly) white women, gathering together to express their...mutual need for media attention. Because, you know, its cool to be a feminist. These morons only care about being seen; they're attention whores, period.
"Oh, look at us! We're protesting! We are so united and wonderful! We don't give a shit about all those women in Africa, Asia, and the Mid-East...the ones who are raped, beaten, and killed on a regular basis. No, we don't care because its not in vogue to care! We're privileged, white, and absolute idiots, but don't we look cool marching?! We don't have a bloody clue about anything, and we shall overcome...something. We're not sure what we'll overcome, but that's okay. Our selfies are going to be sooooo awesome and people will think we're absolutely selfless. We're mindless cows with too much free time! Hooray for us!!"

Have you spoken to them? There seems to have been protests taking place in 50+ countries are you sure none of them care about anything you've mentioned?
