Ellen gives away dog, was she wrong?

This is a dog, not a baby. As long as it's not being abused who the hell cares where it lives?

People, if you want a dog, go down to the Humane Society and pick one out.

I just watched Ellen. Apparently that allegation about Mutts and Moms not doing the registration as they are required by law is true.

It has something to do with a chip. Something like you write your name on it give it to the seller and they are supposed to register the dog in your name. Mutts and Moms didn't do it - contrary to the law. This is why they were able to get the police involved. The dog was still in their name. It shouldn't have been, but it was.

So I guess we can get off our high horse about the law now. Ellen just didn't read the contract. These 2 old dog-nappers outright broke the law.

And I don't understand, if you guys have humane societies down there what do you need these bogus privatized pet rescue things for? They just seem like a way to do business without paying taxes if you ask me, and that automatically suggests a dodgy individual is involved.

I just want to go back to this police thing really quickly...do we know if the cops did anything but supervise? If a company gets death threats it immediately becomes a police matter...and if anyone feels that they themselves are in jeopardy I don't think we can fault the police for being there to make sure the exchange was made with a bit of civility

Just For Clarification...

(I promised myself that I was not getting back into this, but I'll break that promise to explain this for you and anyone else who doesn't know)

The private animal adoption agencies usually specialize in a certain breed or type of dog. There's one here in Georgia that specializes in pit bulldogs, but that's only an example and obviously doesn't apply to the current case (and please, please, PLEASE, let's not start on pit bulldogs). The point is, if you want a certain type of dog to adopt and either can't find exactly what you want at the local Animal Control or just plain don't want to go there for some reason, you go to one of the specialty places. Usually, the fee is considerably higher for adoption there, and they are more selective about just who gets their dogs, what kind of experience they have had with the particular animal/breed's requirements, whether there are other pets in the home, what kind, what sex they are, the number of children, their sex and ages, anything that the particular adoption agency requires.

For all of that, you get an animal that is certified to be in good health, an assessment of the dog's general personality and behavior (frightened of thunderstorms, hates cats, likes to chew, nervous around children, etc) and, in theory match pet and owner in personality and lifestyle as closely as possible.

At an animal shelter, it's just, "I'll take the little black spotted one over there," pay your fee, agree to give it rabies shots, have it spayed or neutered, and you're on your merry way. (If the dog in question had come from there, none of this would've happened, because once the animal is yours, you can keep it or dispose of it pretty much as you see fit.

(Once more, forgive me for returning to this subject when I swore that I wouldn't, but I got the feeling that this was something that wasn't common knowledge and should be clarified)

The videos are starting to come out and we're starting to get a clearer picture of what actually happened.

There was nothing in the contract saying the dog could not have been given to a family with an 11 year old and a 12 year old. That's a story the dog-nappers came up with after they abducted Iggy.

The chip is a micro-chip which identifies the dog to it's owner. Mutts and moms was supposed to switch the owner information on the chip when Ellen gave them $600 for the dog. They didn't.

Speaking of the $600, did these highway robbers get paid twice? I think they did.

The police did not come with the dog-nappers to the house. Batkis and her accomplice arrived at the family's home with private muscle. They grabbed the dog, then the father called the police. The police checked the micro-chip, and because it still had M&M listed as owner that's who they gave Iggy to.

Then there's this -

The calls got so bad that Marina Batkis said she had to close her business and stay home Wednesday, a day after DeGeneres broadcast a tearful, televised plea for the dog to be returned to her hairdresser and the woman's daughters.

So if she was hiding out from Ellen's loonier fans, when did she get time to find a fitting home for Iggy? And what kind of crazy person would want to walk into the middle of this media storm to adopt a dog? No owner better than Ruby and her sister I'll wager. I'm sure M&M and others would like this to be over before all the facts come out, but I don't think it is. Ellen's got a TV show, and a good lawyer. They peed in the wrong cowgirl's cornflakes this time, I think. Time will tell.

OK, I was wrong. Ellen gave up. * Wimp *

After an unsuccessful yet valiant fight, Ellen DeGeneres is going to let sleeping dogs—and stringent dog agencies—lie.

On Thursday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the beleaguered talk-show host says she will no longer mention the plight of Iggy the puppy in public, at least until the rescued pooch's story has a happy ending.

"I think this is the last time I'm talking about this,"

So I guess it's over. But I tell you one thing... If that Batkis, Bitcas, Buttkiss, or whatever her name is had stole my dog, this would just be beginning.
