Emmy Emmy Who's Up For An Emmy?

...not Buffy or Angel. The Emmy Awards were announced, and boy were they filled with some shows...Alias, 24, and Sopranos mostly. I looked under all the categories, not finding Angel or Buffy for any of them. Not Best Actor/Actress in a Drama, Supporting, Cinemetography, Directing, Lighting, Stunt Coordination, not even MAKEUP. Then finally...waaay down on the list, nominatio #81 out of 89 - Best Visual Effects for a Series: "Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chosen".

Heh, at least these people know some good Visual Effects when they see them.

You know, I'd be angrier about Buffy's lack of awards if it wasn't just a continuation of a long-standing Hollywood tradition.

I don't mean to be an eletist jerk (but I'm gonna be one anyway!), but 75% of the people in Hollywood are morons. This is mainly because 75% of the people on Earth are morons, and Hollywood is just a reflection of the greater moronitudinal state.

Awards almost never go to the movies or shows that really deserve them. Do some research on the IMDB on all the greatest movies ever made. How many of them won the Best Picture Oscar? Check out the movies that DID win:

• In 1942, a movie called How Green Was My Valley beat Citizen Kane for best picture.
• In 1980, Kramer v Kramer beat Apocalypse Now. Of course, if they had used Xander & Snyder instead of Martin Sheen and Marlon Brando, things might've turned out differently.
• In 1965, My Fair Lady won over both Dr. Strangelove (My favorite movie!) and Mary Poppins (which is a better musical)

That's just a quick list of some of the better flicks out there that have gone unrewarded. The people that vote for Emmys and Oscars are the same people that continue to greenlight the same god-awful sitcoms year after year after year. It's a bummer, but that's life. I kinda like that most people don't get Buffy. It gives me hope that I'm one of the other 25%. 🙂

They just don't get Buffy, which makes me feel a little sorry for them, they are missing out on so much and they just don't realise it. But we know, we have our Buffyverse and we are better people for it!

BTW didn't Firefly win a special effects Emmy recently? Would that be the same category Chosen is nominated in?

to me its a slap in the face to Joss its like- how dare you ignore my television show and in the last year you say oh we nominated you for this crappy award that nobody is gonna know you won anyway! i wouldnt even accept the stupid award they know that sarah michelle gellar is a better actress than jennifer anniston!!!!!

what do you think they would say? like if they gave someone an award and they were like "no thank-you" that would be just a embaressing moment! I rekon Chosen was one of the best special effects aswell but they should have gotten way more!!

Most Emmy voters don't watch the shows on the WB and UPN... Some people view BUFFY just as a show with vampires and girl power. Hello! What about all that drama and metaphors over the years? But after this year, no more chances of awards for BUFFY...

I agree with SlayerAngel. All these Hollywood bigshots in their "Academy" only pay their attention to shows like "The West Wing" and "Friends". Unless it is a drama whose every episode is "ripped from the headlines" or a cookie-cutter sitcom, it is below them to even consider recognizing it. Shows like "Buffy" are, in my opinion, a whole lot more meaningful than these shows that lack the creativity to mask the issues that they cover behind an interesting storyline. The "Academy", fails to look beyond the vampires and demons to see the truly magnificent rendition of adolescent life that is "Buffy".
