If the show hadn't been renewed for season 5, how would you have felt if Home was the final episode of the show?

They would have had to change the episode, since the entire thing (minus Connor) is pretty much just set up for S5

What if they didn't, it ended on a cliffhanger with us not knowing if they get in the limo

I would have felt it was unfinished. And yet, would ending it on the cliffhanger of the limo be that different from the cliffhanger ending of S5, about to do battle? Maybe, because I would have felt sure that none of them would choose the limo, if I'd never known that they all actually did!

Well there's the fact that Fred and Wesley are still alive in the final scene

Ah, good point! Though if the show were ending, it would be like they had died, in a way.
Honestly…

Hot opinion, but…

As much as I loathe the Condelia storyline, since it completes the threads left hanging from the Jasmine arc, who took credit for literally everything that happened for the first 4 seasons…

It kind of fits?

And the idea that after “saving” the world from Jasmine and “world peace,” AI would be given this choice by W&H, by way of Lilah, to take over “Hell, inc” or to continue the way they were as a small time group… the devil literally stringing them along… and they DON’T make a choice at the end?

That would have fit SO much better than the ending we got on NFA. I still have a hard time rewatching past “Shells,” because the final arc of the fifth season is just so bad (in my eyes). And there are multiple episodes I skip between the premiere and the finale.

That “Home” kind of really works better on a series finale front. I would have been bummed that BOTH my shows ended at the same time… but it would have given Spike a more epic sendoff, and we could all head canon Cordelia waking up from her coma and the team continuing to fight the good fight in LA. Maybe even head-canonning the AI team joining up with Slayer HQ to save the world from an LA apocalypse. I could see Buffy and Angel turning the Hyperion into a slayer training compound. There wouldn’t be hundreds of thousands of slayers because we would go by what Giles said in Bring On the Night that there are just a “handful left”. And those 30 or so new slayers could easily have fit into the Hyperion… it’s a huge hotel!

No, yeah, this is a much better “season five” than what we got. For giggles, we can still have Fred sent the sarcophagus from Knox, only it was sent to the hotel, and it was Kennedy who accidentally opens the sarcophagus and becomes Illyria. I could imagine Iyari in that blue getup and she would become instantly a much more interesting character!

Headcanon confirmed ✅

Yeah, I assume if it were the last episode, it would be a grander final battle than a Clegane Punch. Or a little more, consequences of the last few weeks. Given the payoff for Season 4, and frankly, the mixed reaction for "Chosen," it would not have been a great finale.
