I'm an English major, this is awesome. I'm a bad English major though so I would never dominate a story discussion.

Love this & posted it on my cousin's (the English professor who uses Firefly in one of his class discussion) FB wall. I am an almost-English major. Sophmore year of college (that's 2 year of university for my international friends) I was making a decision between French, English, and Speech Pathology. I chose the last one. Definitely more practical, but I sometimes still wonder what could have been.

OK, as a speech pathologist I love this one: "When you were a child you wrote secret notes...using the phonetic alphabet".

Sometimes I wonder what it would've been like to be a history major. High school hadn't killed my love of history like it had English.
 
This is why I need to go back and get my masters in english lit as planned. This is great.

I majored in both English and history. And I loved it. History has been my passion my whole life.

Although, jobs aint exactly forthcoming 😉
 
A disturbing amount of these apply to me (NOT the Harold Bloom one, though. I loathe that man), but I'm a political science major. Is the universe telling me I should consider switching?
 
Not an English major (like history, it seems incredibly pointless, unless you want to teach. *would rather mutilate self than teach* 😛 ), but I'm incredibly OCD when it comes to the English Language, so this is kinda hilarious. 😉

I hate that this is the case. It is for English, too, honestly, unless you go into technical writing. You'd think people who understand the flows of history would be in high demand, if only to keep us from making them again.

Well, with English you can go into journalism and such, which is good. With history, maybe you could be a sociologist? Or an anthropologist. 🙂 The jobs certainly aren't flying at you though!
 
My Mom is an English Major lets just say I always get good grades on reports. 😀
Because she did major in English Lit a lot of that has rubbed of on me. She inspired my love to read all types of books. I have 3 book cases in my room and 1 in my closet full, if not over flowing.
