Don't know if this has been posted

This week's Entertainment Weekly has a sneek peek at "The New Buffy". By all indications, it's a first look at the Buffy Season 8 motion comic which debut on iTunes on July 19th.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8 Motion Comic
While Joss Whedon's Dark Horse comic-book series 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' is about to end - the five-issue finale begins in September - a special animated series (i.e., motion comic) kicks off this week, giving life to the first 19 issues. (It's based on the comic book based on the live-action TV show based on the 1992 movie. Got that?) Anyway, fans can now watch Buffy really tussle with the forces of evil. The first episode debuts on iTunes July 19,2010 (Fox Home Entertainment); DVD out this Fall.

*GASP* A Willow and Kennedy banner? I have NEVER seen one before.
I am stoked about this! Only thing is -- I haven't ventured into season 8 yet, because I'm getting my husband thru the first 7 first so we can go there together... and I've been okay with waiting since it's only been in comic form, but now... I'm going to implode. D:
I can't wait... but I have to.

I told my hubby about this and both of us are super excited! I can't wait to see what's been happening in Season 8! 😀

lol have you converted him to a crazed-fan now :D :D
Never been that big of a fan of motion comics since they just add little movements here or there. Now if they got the original cast to do voice overs....

the new buffy?

hi everyone!

man the wait for the next issue sure is driving me crazy. haven't lurked around here in a while.

not sure if anyone has brought this up already but while looking for the first look of ryan reynolds as green lantern i noticed a little interesting blurb on the cover of entertainment weekly:

"the new buffy".

just saw...excuse me but i have to run out and see if this issue is out on the stands.

awww...not exactly what i was hoping for but any buffy is good buffy.

last night i went out to dinner and i actually overheard some girls at a table sitting next to mine comparing twilight, buffy and true blood. i like that...even after all these years...

Wow... I honestly don't know what to think of this... I know a month or two ago I was saying that I would love a motion comic, but I never took into account the voice actors. Now, after seeing the trailer, I'm kinda... disappointed? The voice acting kinda sucked. Buffy's voice was just weird, and the narrator (which, obviously, probs won't play a part) was also really weird. Of course, I'm kinda jumping the gun here too. I'm obviously buying the first episode and we'll see where it goes from there.

Also, I'm kinda confused as to where they're going to stop? Let's assume they're going to release each issue every week. We have 35 issues now, and #36 starts back up in September (is that right?)... Ok, nevermind, I just counted the weeks on my [Buffy] calender and it looks like the times for comic release and motion comic release will match up fairly well.

One more problem I see: In the trailer, it only showed scenes up to issue 15. Does this mean they're gonna take a break after 15 are released? I sure hope not.

And now I've wrote entirely too much. See ya 🙂

I just downloaded the free trailer off of iTunes and it looks amazing. I am so jazzed right now I can hardly type. I think this is going to be huge for the Buffy series and could really be the spark that the series needs for an animated TV series or an animated feature film.
Excuse me while I sit here and geek out in my office for a while...
