Serenity sets down at the mudder colony of Canton where it turns out Jayne is a hero for having dropped a bunch of money there years ago that he and*his partner Stitch stole from the local magistrate. The drop was unintentional but Jayne doesn't turn down the attentions. Meanwhile, Kaylee and Simon dance, River rewrites Book's bible, and Inara beds the magistrate's son, a virgin.

Trivia
Adam Baldwin admitted to swiping the Jayne statue's head as a souvenir after filming the episode. Later on, additional shots were needed for the episode (scene where the crew first sees the statue) and the crack where the head was broken off and then reattached is visible.

My fourth episode and the one that made me a fan of the show. Up until this point I wasn't sure about the show even if Our Mrs. Reynolds had started to losen me up. Jaynestown will because of this always be among my favourite episodes.

"Bye now. Have good sex." Imagine that being said by Jayne and not Kaylee.

"You're like a trained ape, without the training."

Jayne ripping off the tape. Not so tough now. 😛

Simon's not doing so well posing as someone else. "His disguise ain't half as funny as yours." Jayne sure doesn't want to be recognized.

A statue of Jayne, with name and all. Simon swears. Not in mandarin but still.

River fixing the bible. 😀

"You don't fix faith. Faith fixes you." I can relate to River, wanting things to make sense.

And now there's a song. The fun never stops.
Jayne's more clueless than ever.

"We gotta go to the crappy town where I'm a hero."

River getting scared ot Books hair.
"The snow on the roof is too heavy. The ceiling will cave in. His brain are in terrible danger."
"River, honey, he's putting the hair away now.
It doesn't matter. It'll still be there. Waiting."

Jayne getting teared up by the fact that they had a riot because of him.

Simon manages to be a jerk to Kaylee again. He might be worse with women than I am.

Here comes trouble. Stitch wants payback.

Fess becomes a man. Way to go.

"Just keep walking preacher man."

"My way of being polite or however it's... well, it's the only way I have of showing you that I like you. I'm showing respect.
So, when we made love last night...
When we *what*?
You really are such an easy mark."

Inara seems to be such a wonderful person. Calm, respectful and nice. I think Mals desricption in the pilot fits well even if he didn't mean it as such. Ambassador. To use companion only make me think of Doctor Who.

[Robb Stark]

-I liked the opening. Firefly does a great job of the slow burn with their romances. Very well done, and Kaylee and Simon are awesome around each other.
-"I needed to find some tape." Jayne, every episode, great. Just great.
-Inara's a pilot? And she knows how to swordfight? It's cool, but um"¦where exactly did she pick these skills up?
-Jayne dresses up like a freaking Ninja Turtle wannabe.
-The mud handprint on the back"¦man"¦that would suck
-Making mud for next to nothing. Gotta say, these guys probably could have made some better choices along the way
-This might be the last mission Simon comes on. James Bond he's not.
-A Jayne Cobb statue. Awesome. I can just tell that Wash is going to have a field day for the rest of the episode.
-The reactions are just hilarious. Jayne getting super twitchy is great. "He looks kinda angry"¦" "Yeah, that's what I meant."
-So we've gone from Atherton Wing (love that name) to a slave owner (who I think was on Covert Affairs) for Inara. You know, for supposedly this elite"¦um"¦"companion", Inara doesn't have a great screening process. And besides, this Higgins guy kind of looks like a frog.
-"Fixing your bible". Love it. "Noah's Arc is a problem." Once again, love it.
-The Jayne song"¦it just keeps getting better. This is already the best episode of Firefly so far. I almost want to make this my answering machine.

By this point in the episode, I want to make it abundantly clear how hard I'm laughing. Seriously, this has just been hilarious. I don't think I can describe how funny this is.

-And frog-guy is back, and might be the most embarrassing dad of all time.
-Jayne in the bar is gold. "TO ME!!"
-Simon just hating Jayne never gets old. "She named a hamster after me". Great line.
-Mal butting in-between Kaylee and Simon reminds of every high school party I've ever been to.
-"You guys had a riot, on account of me?" I think Jayne just shed a tear.
-Now we have frog-guy giving some sort of Tarzan Cyclops a gun. My gut's telling me this isn't going to go well.
-"¦And"¦Simon screws it up.
-Inara thinking that Mal's the folk hero was cute. And then"¦ "Jayne?!" Again, awesome
-Jayne's"¦uh"¦ "speech" was awesome (am I overusing that word?)
-One minor thing, and I know they can't show it on network television, but if a guy took a slug shotgun blast at that range, he'd be blown in half. Still, hell of a knife throw from Jayne.
-Man, this episode did a 180. We went from fall-out-of-our-chairs funny to kinda sad.
-Haha, Fez comes through in the clutch. Big time.
-I liked that River just can't buy what the Bible is selling. She's not alone 🙄
-"It ain't about you Jayne. It's about what they need." Really cool line, and very apt. Very good way to wrap the episode.

-I really, really liked this episode. Best one so far. I thought, especially at the end, it showed some great depth to Jayne that we hadn't seen before. And the whoe idea of Jayne being a folk hero is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Awesome episode.
-"Did you know Jayne is a bonafide folk hero?" That might have been line of the year.

I loved when Kaylee sent Inara with "have good sex" in the same manner you would wish someone good luck; Simons reaction was great.

River "fixing" the Bible gave made me chuckle.

Didn't see Jayne being the town hero, but it was twist.

I wasn't crazy about this episode. I felt bad for the people of the mud town, believing in something that wasn't real, the young man dying for it even.

Alright, got me some ice cream and some Firefly. I have a feeling this one is going to be hilarious. Life is good.

-Simon and Kaylee's cussin' discussion made me giggle. And "Have good sex!"
-Yup, Jayne pretty much is an untrained ape.
-"I'll go, just stop describing me." 😀
-A Scottish dude in charge of mud making. Interesting planet.
-Bahahaha. Jayne has a statue!! "This must be what going mad feels like." Simon has some good ones. Love that they can't quit staring at it.
-Uh, I wonder what problem Inara is going to be dealing with...
-River "fixing" the Bible. I like her and Shepherd together. Good dynamic. "You don't fix faith, it fixes you." I like that.
-Song about Jayne. I'm dying. Everyone is just dumbfounded.
-River and Zoe freaked out by the fro. Heehee. Kind of what my hair looks like on humid days.
-Bald guy has a stick up his bum.
-Mr. Higgins also does. And he should be slapped. Poor Fes. Wow, the awkward.
-Aw, drunk Simon and Kaylee. <3
-River can't come out because of too much hair. HAHAHAHAHAHA
-Drunk Wash is awesome! And giggly.
-Ooo, Inara is goooood.
-Oh, good, crazy man with a gun that hates Jayne.
-Simon opened his mouth and inserted his foot. Oi.
-Nice how Inara imparts wisdom after doing her...uh, duty.
-And her finding out he's talking about Jayne. Love it.
-Oh, no no no, don't beat up the doctor!!!
-Ok, icky violence. 🙁
-I do believe Jayne has a lot of self-hate for all of his selfishness.
-10 points for Fes!!!!!!
-I totally get Simon's thoughts on why it's even more important to be proper. And they are so cute!!
-It would appear Jayne is developing a conscience...

All kinds of good metaphors thrown around in this episode. I liked it! And it's nice to see Jayne get some character development.

This was a very funny episode, but considering it was so funny the ending was completley different. I guess I shouldnt be surprised that there's more than one layer to Jayne, but seeing him care about something and being affected by it was very emotional. When he's telling the young guy to get up after he's been killed is heartbreaking, even more so because its the heartless Jayne whose begging him to do it.

I loved the scenes between River and Shepard, they were hillarious, especially the hair scene.

It was good how they had Inara's storyline mesh with the main storyline. It wasnt just her off with one of her clients and the rest of the crew doing their thing. She actually saved the day in the end without anyone even knowing.

It was a very good episode.

Trying to catch up here. Gonna post while I watch, hope you don't mind. So here comes some stream of consciousness:
-Shirtless Adam Baldwin...not bad.
-"You're like a trained ape...without the training"
-Big huge handprint on the back of Simon's jacket. I just love him. 🙂
-"I think they captured him though. Captured his essence". I adore Wash.
-Tug of war over the Bible LOL.
-The crew's reaction to the song is hilarious!
-What kind of weird hat is the singer wearing?
-Honestly I think anyone could watch this episode and enjoy it, even without seeing the rest of the series.
-I'm kind of glad that Whedon's characters don't drink a ton, because when they do its funny as hell.
-I love Inara- she always says the right thing.
-"I know your name jackass!"
-Oh wow poor Simon!
-"Just keep walkin' Preacher Man" gives me the giggles.
-"It ain't about you Jayne, it's about what they need". Echoes what Book tells River about faith.
