Plot:
The Alliance has placed a bounty on River Tam's head and a bounty Hunter named Jubal Early sets out to claim the bounty and tracks down the Serenity crew. Jubal sneaks on-board the Serenity while the crew is asleep to capture River and Simon and return them to the Alliance, so he can be paid for their capture and only River can stop him.
Trivia:
The bounty hunter, Jubal Early, was named after a confederate general who attempted (and failed) to invade Washington, D.C. in 1864. Joss Whedon named the character as such after hearing that Nathan Fillion is related to the general, who died in 1894. Jubal Early is also the name of a ferry between the Maryland and Virginia sides of the Potomac River.
The boots that Jubal Early wears are made by New Rock, a Spanish brand that specializes in metal-plated leather goth boots.
Jubal Anderson Early (November 3, 1816 - March 2, 1894) was a lawyer and Confederate general in the Civil War. Early was promoted to brigadier general after the First Battle of Bull Run. He was present at the Battle of Malvern Hill, the Battle of Cedar Mountain, the Second Battle of Bull Run, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, the Shenandoah Valley, the Battle of the Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, the battle for Richmond and Petersburg, and Waynesboro. He was at almost every significant battle of the civil war. The fact that he survived so many engagements is remarkable.

My take:
-I like the opening with Simon and Kaylee. They're always sweet together. River always, always keeps me guessing though. One moment she's happy and smiling, the next she looks like the world's ending.
-"You mean like masturbating?" Right up until the end, Jayne delivers
-So now we know about River. She CAN read minds, or at least "see" what people are thinking. That explains quite a bit. Maybe attune to people's feelings? And with Wash and Zoe? Hmm...
-Seeing how Mal and Inara feel about one another and what they want to say to one another through River's eyes was neat.
-Wash's dinosaurs are back!
-It's about damn time Kaylee is telling them about River going Jason Bourne on those soldiers. That probably should have been done earlier. River's eavesdropping? Nuts.
-Jumping through space? Boba Fett has nothing on this guy!
-I love how the crew can have this deep, powerful conversation and Jayne just makes it hilarious at the same time. "If wishes were horses we'd all be eating steak!"
-Alright, my mid-episode prediction is that River just kicks the crap out of this this bounty hunter (and...red leather? Seriously?). Mal finding him was awesome.
-These bad guys that think they're deep drive me nuts. They try and act all high and superior but really, they're just thugs. Some are dressed up nicer, but in the end, they're just bad guys.
-"That's not a Shepherd". Interesting...
-River reading the bounty hunter's mind was both really cool and really creepy.
-Jayne's brief moment of glory with the gun sheet was awesome.
-Man, floating off into space? That'd be a horrible way to die. You'd just go on and on and on...
-Another great episode. One of the best of the series. It was nice to finally get some real insight into what exactly River can do (even though they still left a lot open). The bad guy bugged me, but in a fun way. He grew on me as the episode went on. Him and Simon together were pretty funny. And of course, River just owned that episode. I can't wait for the movie!
