Episode 'She' question

I was just running through the transcript for 'She' and noticed the lines where Angel was acting like a tour guide.

He was talking about a painting of Monet which had a poet Baudelaire. He then began to talk about the poets poem Le Vampire and that it may have been inspired by a real vampire. He also says Baudelaire was a little taller and a lot drunker.

Does this indicate to anyone else that Angelus was the inspiration for the poem or is it just my imagination

In any case, it sounds like Angelus and Beaudelaire were more than acquaintances.

That it does, it is possible that Darla was the actual inspiration because the poem says 'Thou who abruptly as a knife didst come into my heart.' It sounds to me like the poet was talking about someone he loved but then I am not a poet or indeed a good critic so if somebody else has another intrepretation I would be glad to hear it. I believe Darla and Angel were still together around the 1860s- Angelus sired Drusilla in 1860 in London so at that time they were still together
 
That's an interesting thought 🙂 I didn't really think about it - just assumed he knew the guy 😉

I really like that scene! At least we know that when Angel eventually becomes mortal he could be employed in the art world!

I don't think Angel was cursed until 1890 or thereabouts, and he and Darla were still together for at least 10 years after that.

As to which one of them might have inspired the poem, was it entitled "Le Vampire" or "La Vampire"? Reaching back to 7th grade French, that should at least give us the gender of the subject.
 
I didn't think about it at all, but if Dru was there already, maybe the guy had been talking about her instead of Darla. Definitly not Angel, it was a love poem allright! Wasn't Spike also with them those days?
