Episode Summaries- Writers Read!

Hey,

This topic will be updated as new episodes are added.

First off I think there may only be 12-15ish episodes because of the lateness of starting but they will be longer then normal to make up for it.

I want all writers to post how many episodes they could do:
a) Individually
b) In collaboration

And which you prefer to do. At the moment I only have a rough idea for the first episode so if you feel like you have an idea for an episode.

I will post episodes below but in brief and if you want to do the episode you must request to do it. When I get back to you on that you must right at least a one-sided treatment (summary) of the episode at hand. Seperate it into teaser and four acts and a bit of backstory.

I will then check it and ask you to write it or suggest any changes. You will then write it, myself and Faith will check it and make any changes. It will then be put to all the writers to make sure its top notch.

Episodes:

8.01- "Welcome to Life" (tentative title)
Buffy, Dawn, Willow, Xander, Giles, Kennedy, Faith and Andrew all travel to England where they will stay with Giles. They then try to set up a new life after their life in Sunnydale.

I know thats brief but thats probably as long as they will ever be, it is up to the writer to decide how the episode will go, but it must fit in with the rest of the series.

By the way Faith is just temporary, she will go off somewhere at some time.
 
Faith will leave soon? Aw

I can probably write maybe 5-8 episodes. In collaberation? Expound on that plz 🙂

I don't know if I want to do 8.01, since I hate writing premires. Always slow IMHO
 
Does collaboration mean with other writers?

I'll do about 3-6 but if I'm working with other writers on an episode I would maybe be able to do a couple more.

I've got exams at the end of March so I won't be able to do much then but I should have way more time during April onwards.
 
I have exams May/June as well, we're all busy so I dont expect your whole time to be spent on it.

Yes collaboration does mean working with someone else. The ways of doing it vary and its up to writers. Some do scene by scene, some do 1/2 and 1/2, some write different acts, some have someone who reads the lines and the other writes etc.
 
OT: Hey saw you at W&G boards Ash 😉

Anyway, I could probably do some collaboration. I don't have any exams, exam-free. 🙂
 
I'll write the first episode, but im having trouble mapping out the episode so I need help. Can be a group effort.

Basically everyone (excluding the Potentials and Wood) arrive in London Heathrow and prepare to stop at Giles' until they find their own place.

The rest of the episode will just be them adjusting to the new country and life, maybe hints of what is to come. Any ideas on elaborating would be helpful.
 
You need a minor MOTW IMHO. So maybe......I was going to say everyone can't see eachother showing how they are adjusting but it would be like 7.2.
 
Maybe Buffy could go out patrolling ang get lost or something, as a general side point. But as far as a MOTW, maybe some demon has taken over Giles' home during the absence and refuses to leave, not just a ghost or something, something corporeal.
 
Maybe the demon could have some special power? Like the ability to body-shift the group? Like, say Willow and Buffy traded bodies and Xander and Dawn switched bodies. But the catch is, they can get into the person they're in's thoughts. So maybe a Scoobie has a secret and whoever was in their body could recieve that and wackiness ensues.

I know, it sucks. Just trying to help. 😉
 
Ill take the idea into account for possibly another episode Rocket. Maybe once they've all announced where they're going they have these hidden secrets and anxieties and feelings and stuff and the demon causes them to switch bodies, thus learning said secrets etc.

Here?s what I've got so far for 8.01:

Teaser:
Buffy is patrolling, normal kind of things. Dark, gloomy and Buffy is talking to herself. Suddenly a vampire appears and Buffy tries to chase after it but looses it, and ends up lost in the middle of a wood.

Act One: At Giles' there are boxes everywhere, people all over the place. Buffy comes back, early in the morning after having spent the night trying to figure out how to get home. Giles tells her she showed her around the graveyards before and she?s says she knows but somehow she got lost.

Later, Xander, Willow, Kennedy, Dawn and Buffy all move into a house. It used to belong to a member of the council that died in the explosion, Giles knew it would be alright for them to take it. Anyway, they all try to set up the home but have the usual who?s having what where and how much kind of new-house arguments. Buffy, having enough, decides to go patrolling.

Act Two:
On the way patrolling she meets a cute guy who she starts chatting to. She looses track of time and it is suddenly much later, she says she must leave but doesn?t say why. He asks to meet her but she says she doesn?t know her new number. He gives her his.

Later, in the graveyard Buffy is attacked by a demon, which she kills without much effort. She then starts to explore, remembering what Giles told her about the graveyard. She notices something that wasn?t there last time she went, a huge mausoleum. She goes to it but finds it bare and empty and leaves.

The next day Buffy tells Giles about the mausoleum while talking about her patrolling. He insists there isn?t a mos. there and they go to see but as Giles said there is no mausoleum. Giles tries to research it but as his books are "somewhere" (as in amongst boxes) and there is no internet connection they have to go on his knowledge. Unfortunately he does not know what it is. He says Buffy must patrol tonight to try and find out.

Act Three:
Buffy is patrol, sceptical of it all. She stumbles upon the guy she saw a few days ago. She tries to get rid of him to protect him but he says he is visiting his mother's grave, she died exactly three years to the minute near enough. After brief bonding about dead mothers he goes to the grave, which Buffy doesn?t want him to.

Buffy continues to patrol and meets the demon that is doing this, a hideous creature. he does the usual massive evil plan explanation, she?s weak explanation etc. Buffy tired of this says some kind of joke and he gets angry and mentions the Slayers she created, and how they will wreck the world. Buffy wants to find out about it but he shifts the area, which is his skill. She finds herself lost and the demon gone. After cursing she tries to find her way out, and when she comes to the edge of the graveyard she walks through and warps back to where the demon teleported her.

The next day everyone notes that Buffy hasn't returned and decides that they should go find her. At the graveyard they walk around but cant find her. Buffy (still in night) can see them though and tries to talk to them but cant. The demon returns to taunt Buffy. She gets angry and tries to stake it but as she does the dimension changes again.

The demon lingers around the real dimension unseen to everyone, except Dawn. Her connection with Buffy (the made out of Buffy's blood thing) has allowed her to see the demon because Buffy is stuck in his dimension (Ill think of a better explanation later). She tries to get the demon to bring Buffy back but of course he refuses. Dawn tries to get Willow to do "some sort of spell" which she agrees but as she cant see the demon she finds it hard. The demon has enough and takes them to a dimension without magic.

Act Four:

The gang are in the magicless dimension and cant seem to find a way to escape, however in this dimension the demon is bound to it because he cannot use magic. The gang kill it and this shifts all the dimensions back but as Buffy is still in night the day is reversed, it was the original demon-made dimension.

The gang briefly talk about the demon and finally sort out rooms and stuff, even though the house is still messy. Buffy later resides in Willow about the guy but says she is unsure of him, but he is "very cute".

Right these dimensions will not be like the ones Anya made, they will co-exist with the real one but think of it as an extra layer. It will be all pretty much the same but the graveyard will shift around.

Anyway, I sort of had a random idea and ran with it. Tell me what you think, be it yay or nay. But if nay say why, don?t just say "It's crap"
 
Not being one of your writers, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to comment, but I see something that seems to be an obvious flaw, so I have to speak up.

I like the basic story, but it's kind of "Sunnydale in England" right now. This distracts from the whole "Where do we go from here?" thing you need to connect to what's going to come in the Season.

How will they take over the Watcher's council and wind up in different areas of the world? You're going to stay with the plot details outlined in Angel 5, right?

Here's a suggestion. Add backstory to your plot. Rather than have them move into Giles' house, they could move into a Watcher's mansion. The remaining Watcher's wouldn't like that. In the background, the battle for control of the Watcher's council and it's assets could be happening. Maybe Giles could even make contact with the coven. At some point it could come to some kind of political showdown between, the new watchers and the old watchers.

Also if they're in a Watcher mansion, Buffy doesn't have to go out patroling a la Sunnydale. The mansion could have a cemetary connected to it, as I understand some English estates do. Maybe she's just lying in bed at the mansion feeling restless, or some kind of voice is whispering to her, or whatever, and she decides to go for a walk in the cemetary, because that's the kind of thing Buffy does. She investigates.

You see what I mean though, right? Keep your original story, but add backstory with a sub-plot. If necessary make it a 2 parter. In this way you establish what they're doing in England, and what their plans are.

Its fine, while the writers comments may be more important and stuff I still take interest in other peoples questions.

This is just the opening episode, helps set up where they are and stuff. Buffy has never really had large season openers that has set up the rest of the season.

We are going to, and they will decide upon it later but not at present. They still think they're going to stay together. The Watchers Council, as Giles is one of the few remaining members of the WC (not sure on how many, the robot Roger W-P may have been lying) he will obtain most of the stuff.

It didnt make sense but they stayed in Giles' when they first moved to England then moved out. Why would watchers have mansions? If the watchers wanted control over this mansion wouldnt they a) have taken in since the WC was destroyed and b) take it? The coven is a good diea. Like the idea of new/old watcher conflict.

Some houses do have graveyards but not many, most people find it creepy. I think Buffy would still patrol until she runs into other slayers and realises she doesnt have to any more. Or at least explore the area.

Two-parter is an interesting idea, as is the conflict between new/old watchers council. The above was just an outline of the story, things like why they are living in England would be explained in the story.
 
i think in the first episode Buffy and everyone on the school bus should go to see angel who puts them up and then arranges flights for them and gives them loads of money and then they go to Cleveland where the other hellmouth is, setup a headquarters, like the watchers council and then they should assign everyone to different areas of the world- its only a very very basic idea but i think it should involve cleveland because it has been mentioned in both season three, when anya grants cordys wish and the world changes and in this world buffy lives in clevelnd and also giles said it t the end of season 7.
