He was supposed to be the Higher Power manipulating Cordy (but not possessing her) the pregnancy/Jasmine thing was a last minute rewrite to accommodate Charisma's pregnancy & Glenn's death. That's more-or-less what David Fury says anyway.

Drogyn was a last minute stand-in for Giles because Joss couldn't get the studio to sign off on flying Tony Head to LA from England, and putting him up for a week in a hotel, just to shoot eight minutes of screen time.

I was thinking the same thing! I always wanted Xander to show up on Angel, and AS5 would've been the perfect opportunity. Or at least he could've showed up like Andrew did. I loved Andrew, but I think Xander would've been much more interesting.

No question. Andrew didn't even know Angel, Xander had a huge history with the big guy.

Interesting. My interpretation was always that Angel and Buffy grew apart. This isn't surprising.

Oh, I don't know if he would've necessarily been "Giles the Keeper of the Deeper Well," it's quite possible Giles would have just met with them there.

I do feel a bit cheated, because Giles was really the only one with good reason to hate Angel, so their chemistry was so captivating. Forget Angelus, Angel put Giles' surrogate daughter in constant danger and turmoil
