Equal Opportunity 'Shippers

I used to be more of a Bangel when I first started watching the show, but honestly I wasn't really either or. After rewatching Buffy and beginning AtS, I was torn between the two. I loved them both. Then after I progressed through AtS, I fell in love with Cordelia and her interactions with Angel. I started liking Bangel less and less each day, and now I don't like it at all. But I still appreciate the relationship they had.

I know some people might send me to the dungeon for this, but the similarities between Buffy/Angel and Edward/Bella stick out to me like a lighthouse on a clear, moonless night! There, I said it 🙂p)! The whole broodiness (Angel & Edward) and selfishness (Buffy & Bella) when they're together is frustrating, and it grew old on me very quickly. Lol, I think Cordelia and Wesley acted out their same old, same old interactions very nicely. Spuffy on the other hand always had me on edge, I always wanted more. But, I don't want to turn this thread into a shipping war! So, yeah I'm a Spuffy but I still have a great appreciation for Bangel. They have history, you can never change that. 🙂

*Timidly takes a few baby steps in* *Looks around nervously* *Smiles wide with her "positive energy", embraces her inner Cordy, and LEAPS in... Landing on her behind. In a graceful way.*

Hm, I'm not sure if this really the place for me considering that I'm definitely more Spuffy than Bangel in the grand scheme of things, but what the hay, I'm in a cheerful, 'shippy mood, so why not... *Prepares sing-song voice* share the love?

*Coughs lightly* Sorry... Didn't mean to blow out anyone's eardrums...

Anyway! I'm not exactly a bangel lover, anyone who knows me knows that. But I do think that I have a good level of respect and understanding towards all 'ships, so I love the idea of being a bit more open and diverse with it. 🙂

It's interesting how huge Spuffy/Bangel are- Especially in comparison to all of the other 'ships in the 'verse. 😉 Personally, I'm a huge 'shipper, and there are very few 'ships that I dislike.

*Reads through thread* Hum. This is a great thread. And I almost feel as though I'm at a Support Group Meeting (Which is a good thing, hon. 😉 ).

"Hi. I'm Wishing. And I like both Bangel and Spuffy." "Hi, Wishing." 😛

LMAO!!!!!!! (NO SARCASM!)
I'm more of a Bangel myself, but there are so many beautiful elements of Spuffy that I can't ignore. Seriously breathtaking and touching portrayals of love, moments that make me happy and sad and nostalgic all at once. It's strange though, because even appreciating Spuffy cannot make me feel that Buffy truly loved Spike. To me, it was almost entirely one-sided. I guess I can just appreciate that Spike loved her enough for both of them, and maybe that's what keeps me from being a "Spuffy" outright.

I see your point, but I think Buffy did in the end. I think people still question it though because she really never made her feelings for Spike crystal clear until the final hour. She always did with Angel, even before they were together.
I've never had any problem whatsoever in accepting the relationship between Buffy and Angel during the first three seasons of the show, or even the fact that Buffy did and almost certainly will always love Angel, and I think that I share that feeling with most Spuffies. Where we differ from the majority of Bangels is that we can accept the fact that just because she loves Angel, there's no reason whatsoever for that to mean that she couldn't love someone else just as much or even more.

Here here!
TO be REALLY, dead, humongously honest... I don't really like a ship MORE than others. I do dislike some of them though. But overall, I loved watching Briley as much as Spuffy, Cangel, Wilah, Fresley ect... They all have something special and different.

With me, it's not that I like both ships equally, I just don't care enough about Buffy as a character to give a damn, and I think that Spike and Angel are much better off without her.

I think that all of her lovers were better when she wasn't around.

I concur that she could love someone else just as much or even more, I'm just not convinced yet that she does (WRT Spuffy). But I'm only in the middle of season 4 in my re-watch, so I'm willing to reserve judgement 'til the end.

Is it just me, or do you feel like there's more understanding towards the other ship years after the show ended than when the show was still on, too?
I remember real wars back than, something dangerous. I really felt like there could be world war III for ship issues. Today it's like: "ah, you like that ship? I love the other ship, but I do like some moments that your ship gives. They seem to really mean to each other, it's actually nice!" Instead of: "that ship sucks, they hate each other, they better live on far islands from each other, because they're disgusting!" of before.

I'm not saying that the evidence of Buffy's love isn't there. Rebuttals certainly can (and have, and will continue to) be made that she loved him. I just can't see it. I've tried, and it's like forcing something in where it doesn't belong. It's not so much that I'm consumed with the idea of Bangel love that I cannot accept any other (because I'm not, I'm open to the fact that some day Buffy may love again). I suppose I need to watch S7 for the hundredth time and really be honest with myself and figure out what, exactly, is stopping me from believing Buffy.

That's ok. I respect that, if you can't see it. But, maybe the 100th time will be the charm 🙂
