Eskimo Limon

When I was growing up, this film and all it's sequels were really a cult film. I was propably way too young for those movies when first watching them, but since my Dad liked them so much (and he never was much for sheltering us from stuff anyway from a certain age on) we were also allowed to wath them.
Now, here in Maastricht, I'm kinda really shocked, because no one around here seems to know these movies. I know they were at least pretty popular in Germany (under the name 'Eis am Stiel'), but even most of the other Germans don't know them. Internationally, it looks even worse.
All my life I really thought these movies were widely popular, but now it seems as if everybody has forgotten them already? Am I the only one who still enjoys watching them, or even knows them?
These movies are kinda like the American Pie of the late 70's/80's, only they are way more awesome. They are set in the late 50's/early 60's in Tel-Aviv and display the teenage lifestyle.

For some visualization (since maybe the movies have different names in other countries....the Russian translation means 'Hot Bubble Gum') I looked for some trailers online. The ones I found were all German, I hope that's okay, but these were really the only ones I could find.

I know them and I have at least seen the first two or three once. But I can't say I remember that much. :/

Though Eskimo Limon didn't ring any bell as soon as I saw Eis am Stiel (I totally just wrote Stiefel, oh boy. That would make for an entirely different movie) I knew what you were talking about.

^ Even though I've never seen any of the "Eskimo Limon" (aka "Lemon Popsicle") series, I am familiar with them and their creator, Boaz Davidson, as his american re-make of the original "Eskimo..." is one of my favorite 1980's movies....."The Last American Virgin" :: tu ::

The Last American Virgin (1982)

It's said that Boaz re-made the film almost exactly like the original, but with american actors obviously, and with an excellent 1980's music soundtrack. Unlike the original Boaz films, however, he never made any sequels to it as it didn't do very much box-office here, sadly, and that's a shame. It really is a good little movie, with an ending that is just heartbreaking.

Because of that movie, I've always been wanting to watch the original "Eskimo...." series. Is it any good, Kristine?

I definitely think so! I really dig the whole 50's setting, which they nicely display with music, dresses, cars and everything from that era, it's so awesome!
There's these moments in the movie where you just think 'oh god...really?!?', some scenes are pretty graphic but honestly I don't think it's any worse than teen movies these days!

I know some sites where you an watch the movie, but unfortunately they all just have the German dubbing. Which really speaks for the german popularity of the movie.
Btw, I discovered why they seem to be a lot more popukar in Germany than in, let's say, the States. Apparently, the films were made by Israel with the help of Germany, and many of the girls that appeared over the cours of the series were German.
