Ethen Rayne. What do you think of him? Do you like him?

I thought Ethen was a very interesting character, in fact, imo he was interesting enough to have made a good sized arc about him and Ripper, maybe not a season long arc but maybe a good 6 or 7 episodes. His backstory and history with and Giles was never explored enough and the glimpses we got especially in The Dark Ages and A New Man were among the best in the seasons they were in. He's like other characters like Kate, Wood and Maggie Walsh in that he was very underused and had so much potential, its a shame he never got more screen time.

Haha, funny, I'm fourth to vote, and so far every episode got exactly one vote.
Well I voted for The Dark Ages because there he's just SO evil. I can't explain how, but somehow in that episode he's different from what he's like in the other ones. Maybe because we see him as more of just a guy than somebody completely evil. I mean, in Halloween and Band Candy he had grand plans and managed to through the whole of Sunnydale into chaos. Here, he himself was looking for help.
 
Was hard choice for me, but i went with bar candy at end. He is my favorite guest star 🙂
 
I liked "A New Man" best because it gave a certain insight into the old Ripper/Ethan friendship, and who can forget the look on Giles' face when Ethan said, "I put a pellet in your drink while you were in the bathroom. You'll be dead in 10 minutes."
 
My fave was A New Man too, the first scene with EthAn in it, in the crypt sayin ''i wouldnt say that Ripper old Mate..Oh bugger i thought youd gone''
was classic. And i loved their little conversation over a pint, gettin drunk.
 
Well seeing as I must pick a favorite I pick 'The dark ages'.

I love seeing the dark side of Giles it's delightful, behind the Glasses and Tweed is good old ripper.

I love that Giles has dark traits inside and that Ethan is the glass we get to look at them through, although strangely we see Giles at his darkest when Ethan is not around, i'm of course talking about the end of season 5, which I wont go into as i'd hate to spoil it for any who haven't seen it, but if you have seen it, if Giles can do that, what in hell did 'Ripper' get up to?

I've spent many an hour wondering what Rupert got up to in his 'Ripper' days, I imagine that he must have done some horrid things to earn the name 'ripper'.

Also I always wanted to see Giles talk to Willow about her magic addiction on a more personal level, Giles knows what it's like to lose control and go too far with magic.

I feel that 'Ripper' wasn't explored enough, if we ever get the 'Ripper' spin-off then maybe that will change.

Actually, I always just thought that "Ripper" was just a word play on the name "Rupert."
I liked him best in "A New Man" he made me laugh 😛
I like the scenes in the motel room with Giles at the end.
 
My favourite episode with Ethan is Band Candy but wasn´t the question so I voted for A new man. It´s very hard not to love him in that episode. Favourite parts already mentioned.
 
I voted for A New Man. I loved Ethan in this episode, he's sooo funny and you really get the feeling that these two guys have a history together.
 
the drinking scene in A New Man is so funny, i love when he fakes poisoning Giles and his laugh is really weird and yet cute. I love Ethan... hmmm Band Candy is close tho... his tattooing Buffy is funny.
 
I loved him in A New Man. He wasn't in it that much, but he was great.

Ethan: I've really got to learn to leave town after the damage is done. It's the stay and gloat that gets me everytime.

I wish we'd seen him after season 4.
