Will you be watching? Who are your favourites so far?

I'm going to a friend's place for a eurovision night this year, and we've all pulled countries out of a hat, I've got San Marino and Czech Republic (Czechia). We're bringing/making food from our countries and dressing in their flag colours. I'm going to attempt a Czech dish and dress in blue and white from the San Marino flag.

I loved Eurovision growing up but it’s become overly political lately for me. However I do miss the parties and hope everyone enjoyed them this year!
I will be watching like every year! I am excited! I haven't watched the videos of the competitors on youtube yet.Need to have a look. But I am pumped for the finals.

I thought famous people weren't allowed to compete in Eurovision but the UK has Olly Alexander from Years and Years as their contestant this year.

Maybe it depends on level of fame, Blue did it a few years back.

He's not famous enough, and appearing on UK soaps isn't going to get him European votes!

I think we’re hosting this year, but I am thoroughly ignorant of the going on this year. Is it this weekend?

You are hosting it yes. No next Saturday, with the semis on Tuesday and Thursday.

I'm away this year so won't see it. If I was about I'd pass anyway due to the ridiculous hypocrisy. Which is sad because it's a fun night.

First semi final was last night, with the second tomorrow night.

Australia
Azerbaijan
Iceland
Moldova
Poland

All failed to qualify this year.

I actually watched it, was invited for a champagne and watch party, which was nice. The Finnish couple hosting were not proud over the Finnish contribution… what in the bleeping heck was that 😂

Finland are known for not doing a single ballad. I think it does go a little over the top this year though.
However they're on course for being in the top 10, or beating the uk!

Australia has only ever sent its most famous.
But they are probably only most famous here.
Glad we didn't get far this year. We shouldn't have. Ordinary performance.

Looking at the rules, there doesn't appear to be anything saying you cannot send existing stars. I believe we sent this guy called Cliff Richard in the 60s. I think he is kind of famous. 🙂

Celine Dion was in it too. I think San Marino had some American rapper person one year too, he was quite famous but not famous enough for me to remember his name!

Both of my countries got knocked out in the semi finals, so I'll have to decide who to support instead.

We've redrawn the countries for those of us that had ones knocked out, I'm now supporting Germany. Haven't heard much about their entry, so I don't have high hopes about winning.

So late this year, thought it usually started at 7pm. Probably so the Finnish entry is post watershed!

Do you ever get the feeling that some countries have decided they have no chance of winning anyway, so decide to just go nuts with their entry?
