This is actually awesome. Former members of Evanescence Ben Moody, John LeCompt and Rocky Gray have formed a new band which is essentially Evanescence without the name because Amy lee still owns the rights to that name. Teamed up with Marty O'Brian and Carly Smithson from America Idol. The band is called The Fallen, and you should check them out at Fallen on June 22nd

That is so cool! I'm actually really excited about this. Evanescence was never one of my favorite bands, but I always enjoyed them and what makes this even better is Carly Smithson because I really liked her and she has a nice sound. =]

Evanescence haven't broke up. It's the past band members that have been either forced out or fired by Amy Lee because she is a total bitca, a good looking bitca with an amazing voice but still a bitca. The guys just decided they wanted to stay a band after some discussion so decided they are to do this. The first track is available for free download at Fallen in about 4 or 5 hours time I think.

Im curious to see how The Fallen will do, I hope they do well though as I thought Ben Moody was the true talent behind Evanescence, I lost a lot of faith in them after more members got fired/left due to Amy Lee. Secondly The Open Door was boring compared to Fallen, it showed that Ben Moody really did give Evanescence its success. I really hope The Fallen do even better, I'd like to see a new rock/metal band with a female lead vocal do well against other bands like Within Temptation and Epica.

Does anyone have it yet? It doesn't show available until 3pm Eastern time but I'm not sure if that applies to everyone...?

I think Evanescence went down hill with the album Fallen.
The orginal stuff (The Evanescence EP, Sound Asleep EP and Origin) were amazing pieces of work, and I like Fallen, don't get me wrong, but just wasn't the same.
I am interested to hear this band. Everyone knows that lyrically Moody was the major talent behind the band, as you can tell by listening to The Open Door. Which, although had a couple of good songs on it, was mostly filler.

They're not too bad. Based on this one song, their lyrics don't cut to the soul like Evanescence but they have the potential to be very good very soon.

They've only been together a week but The Fallen - the new project of ex-Evanescence guitarists Ben Moody and John LeCompt, drummer Rocky Gray and former American Idol contestant Carly Smithson - have been forced to change their name after being issued with a cease and desist order from a Philadelphia-based band also called The Fallen.

"We are truly sorry for the confusion that stemmed last week from an unexpected announcement from The Fallen," said the Philadelphia-based band in an official statement. "The band will continue to bring their music to the fans and perform as The Fallen."

Meanwhile Ben Moody's mob have now renamed themselves We Are The Fallen.

Kerrang Article!

Oh dear it looks like these guys have already got to change their name and its not because of Amy Lee either.

Too bad I already have a band called We Are the Fallen. I guess these guys will have to change their name to We Are Truly the Fallen (Or Are We?)

I heard a rumour but didn't want to believe, I know Amy seems to have gotten past the whole I need rock music to live, but it is a shame, her voice is just awesome.

The comments on the first article are hilarious: "Nobody will ever be as good as Evanescence or replace them as the best female-fronted band evar!" Um, excuse me? What about, oh say Nightwish, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil. . . . They were here first. Evanescence is the watered-down version of them. Especially Open Door
