Eve in eden? (spoiler?)

Someone brought this up in conversation and I thought someone here may have an oppinion.

Could Eve be like the biblical figure of Eve? Could she be there to tempt and polute the gang from the inside causing unrest and chaos? (I could be rambling due to lack of sleep!)

Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?
 
I don't think they want to dare take in religion that far. I don't think the WB would allow that, would they?



Coincidence: before this Eve appeared on Angel, I used an Eve in a Buffy RPG, she did have biblical reference.
 
Yeah, I get the WB not wanting to use the religious refrence.

Could they have got round it somehow? I mean they could put a spin on it to protect themselves. Could they?

I thought it would be a very interesting thread to the bow.


Coincidences like yours always happen to me, but there is no way to say "Hey that was my idea," without sounding stupid.
 
I won't cause my Eve was/is like way different ... it's an Buffy S4 RPG, take a guess 😉

She comes off very human, in an article one of the writers was talking about her, and that perhaps she's a little too normal, and I think this is true. Either, they want to bring out some kind of evilness to her, OR they will keep her as a normal person. I think keeping her as human is the wise choice, it would suprise people, becuase we dont know who she is, or why she's there, so it would be a twist to see her human...
 
well, Joss did have an evil preacher killing girls....

but yeah, it's obvious Eve has to do with the bible thing... remember the apple in conviction?
 
Maybe Adam (from Buffy 4) will come back to life and get with Eve. (I wouldn't like to see their offspring, that'll make ya shudder!!!!)
 
I just assumed that that was what her name would mean...and then the apple thing...it's totally a play off the biblical thing...
 
The direct quote is "My name is Eve. And just so we get the whole irony thing out of the way..." And then she throws the apple. It was meant to play off the Bible. 😉
 
I thought that was the whole irony: Eve was thrown out of Eden and now she works for W&H.
 
I seriously doubt that they would try and say that Eve is the actual Eve from the Bible. I think there are and will be significant similarities though.
 
Eve/Lindsey Questions

Lindsey's back and Eve's got em.

This should be a revelation. Instead it creates more questions. Here's a few that immediately occured to me.

1. Are they good or evil? Eve sounded sincere when she told Fred, "I'm not the bad guy". Lindsey looked sincere when he appeared to reject Wolfram & Hart and go off looking for a better life. Last episode (Lineage) told us a new player was in the game, and they might be the good guys. Remember when Lindsey told Angel, "The way to beat Wolfram & Hart is not to play their game. Make them play yours".

2. Does Lindsey know everything Eve knows? Does this mean he knows about Connor? Will they play the "Connor" card?

3. Eve took over for Lilah. How did L & E swing that? When Eve gets caught, and you know she will, will this create the return of Lilah?

4. What's with those tats? Someone on another thread pointed out they are reminiscent of Spike's "Never Leave Me" scars. It's true. The basic grid is the same, only the symbols at the end of each line is different.

I always had a theory those symbols carved into Spike's chest in Never Leave Me were part of a ceremony used to give the Uber Vamp an increase in power. If that turns out to be true, will that mean Lindsey is now super-powered?

Also you'll notice the top part of that tatoo appears to be a scythe, or what Giles referred to as a glocklestop.

On the other hand perhaps the only mojo of the symbols is to hide Lindsey from the senior partners. You'll notice the same symbol is painted at least twice on the apartment wall.

5. What is their relationship with Sirk? Rutherford Sirk is the ex-watcher Wesley cold-clocked in Home, and the guy used by E & L to send Spike and Angel on the wild goose quest for the cup. E & L may be paving the road to Hell with good intentions, but Sirk is definitely evil in the Ethan Rayne vein

6. The subject of Watcher's keeps coming up. Is there an E & L/Watcher connection?

7. Do E & L have access to the cyborgs? Last week Emile the gunrunner was killed before he could tell Wesley the name of his contact. Could Lindsey have been that contact?

Well, from the conversation it looks like they are not jkust up to killing Angel, but are also against the senior partners. They are more or less a wild card who plans on destroying Wolfram and Hart from the looks of things. It also seems like they are trying to groom Spike as a champion in his own rights or at least make him to think he is one to eliminate Angel. Either way, it seems like they are evil with the tatoos that Lindsey is sporting, maybe it is sort of a cloaking spell to protect their plans from the senior partners.

Or Eve and Lindsey are trying to take out Wolfram and Hart and the senior partners to create their own evil empire to control
 
Come to think of it here's another question.

Eve didn't seem to want Fred to make Spike corporeal. She seemed to be behind Angel's talk with Fred concerning committing too many resource to making Spike corporeal. She expressed concern when Spike Knocked down the beaker.

We're supposed to assume E & L are responsible for the Spell-in-a-box sent to Spike at W&H to make him coporeal. Why would Eve want Spike coporeal now, when she didn't appear to want it last week?
 
Lyndsey's reappearance certainly does bring up more questions than it answers. The part about those symbols being some kind of cloaking spell makes sense - a little something to keep him off the senior partner's radar. And being that the same symbols are painted all over the walls, I guess the same spell probably keeps Eve's relationship with him a secret too.

It strikes me that, since he's been absent for so long, he must have had time to prepare a very carefully layed-out plan. I think the point about Eve looking concerned when Spike knocked over the beaker in Lineage could have been because she was worried he might learn to become corporeal himself ahead of schedual. There's no doubt in my mind that Lyndsey was the one who sent the amulet to Angel and the package to Spike.

Has anyone considered the possibility that this could be misdirection? When Spike turned corporeal it destabalised the whole universe, and the senior partners had to intervene. Perhaps now that their attention is focused on holding reality together it leaves something else vulnerable?

It's something else to think about anyway.
 
Symbols on Buffy/Angel always throw me off. They always look like they represent something important, but if they do, I can never figure out what it is.

For example, do you remember this bit from End of days?

Now look at that scythe-looking symbol on top of Lindsey's chest. Could that be a glottal stop?

Also look at the symbols on Lindsey's arm. Doesn't that look like backwards printing. Wouldn't you like to get a full-view look at that in a mirror?
 
Your glottal stop post actually got me curious enough to go out and find a pic of an actual glottal stop symbol:

I think you can certainly make a case for the tat on Lindsey's chest being a derivation of the glottal stop. Or, you know, maybe it's the ancient Sumarian heiroglyph for Acoustic Rock Lawyer with Regenerating Limb.
