We are killing our planet, water first, then bees and air. Water wars will come too. One day (if the ice caps melt) we may be surrounded by water no one can drink.
Sometimes I don't like us humans much.
Dont worry, the earth will always be here, us humans may not
😛 we are nothing but annoying ants on its face. We'll wipe ourselves out before turning this earth into useless space rocks.
I wonder how much of the ocean is nuclear contaminated now. We have desalination plants on the coast, converting ocean water to usable water. I dont know if they test for that kind of thing. The salt excess has not caused major problems yet, as far as I know. But it doesnt sound like the best solution for our fish.
People who can access the bores use them all day in the middle of summer. I approached my workplace over watering 8 acres of paddocks in the heat of the day and was told I was an idiot cos it all goes back into the ground
🙄 these people were dutch though and honestly I feel a lot of our water issues here are coming from migrants with no understanding of the heat or respect for droughts. Its damn selfish to have 40 minute showers and to water the garden daily. But they dont give a crap cos increasing water rates really have little affect on their income or way of life.
Wasnt there huge construction on the nile recently? Maybe thats why Cairo is ok.
Places near the ice caps have huge potential to sell off their water. Aussies have been looking into how to transport water since I was in high school. We have a huge river up north that could help the south out, if their is a global crisis, but transport is the issue.
It always make me sad that Mr C Y O'Connor killed himself after public shaming. His work in bringing water to the remote goldfields brought this state a lot of money. It offered water to create a town. It really really sucks that new ideas and the people behind them are mocked to that point. Nothing has changed in human behaviour since his time.
