Because I have such a strong passion for Buffy, I at one point, was DETERMINED to make other people like it, LOL. I would force people to watch it, just so they could see for themselves how amazing Buffy truly is, despite it's "childish" name.

I actually got a lot of people into it. One girl from my old job became a Buffy ADDICT. She would call out of work because she was up all night watching every episode because she couldn't stop. Then she moved onto Angel and did some more calling out of work hah.

Anyone else ever force people to watch, and get them addicted??

My aunt got me addicted after forcing me to watch OMWF, which yea, is season 6, but I love musicals so it was the only way to get me hooked.

I sorta forced my boyfriend to watch it, but he loves it now too. Not as much as me of course!

No. I did not track down all members of Take That, nor did I drug them and tie them up. And they are not in my living room right now watching "The Body" and yelling that they don't care. I most certainly didn't do any of this. Honest.

Take That karma!!
I forced my husband to watch with me when we first got married. At first, he made fun of me for liking the show, but one night I bought Season 1 and forced him to watch with me. I threatened no sex for a month if he didn't. LMFAO!!
It worked out in my favor, though, 'cause he ended up LOVING the show.

Bwah ha ha! Had to give you karma for that.

Omg how cruel! never ever ever make no sex an ultimatum! of course you'll win! 😛

As for me, I forced my cousin to watch it. He's on s4 now i believe, and he is totally loving it. He used to tease me all the time too. and now i'm the one doing the teasing! muahahaha

I've very strongly insisted people watch 😉...but can't say I've ever forced anyone to. Though I kinda want to do that to most of the people in my life, lol! I'm just afraid that if I force them to watch they'll be turned off by the show.

But the gentle-yet-persistent hinting does work sometimes! 😀 One of my friends finally caved a couple weeks ago and started watching on Netflix, and is now almost done with Season 2. It's such a great feeling to see a newbie's mind get blown by Surprise/Innocence, lol. 😀

Lol, "strongly insisted." I love it! :D
For Christmas this year, I had the people closest to me watch Buffy. Mom watched The Body, Dad watched Hush, my friend who already saw it watched OMWF, my friends who didn't started from the beginning (and three of the 4 are going to continue when they have the time)....

That's a pretty awesome idea! :)
Yep well kind of I forced my mom to watch one day when it was morning and we weren't doing anything. I just popped in the Buffy dvd's and was like watch these many please. She ended up loving it especially Spike. The only problem is Buffy seemed to be her least favorite. By the time she was done with Buffy she was more than happy to watch Angel and she really liked that one because she likes Cordy, Wes and Lorne a lot. Then again she loves them all she was like I love Willow!

So now I like to look at it as not so much force but opening her up to the great show.
I do that with a lot of my shows though I can't help myself.

I made my sister watch. I make her watch all the TV shows I like, lol. But she loved it in the end (and became a Spike and Spuffy fan, woo!)

My other sister was very adamantly against watching the series, so when it used to air on FX at 4pm, I'd go into the living room and put it on. Then when she'd get in from school at around that time and collapse on the sofa... Buffy would be on the TV and she'd be forced to watch. 😀

She was against it for a few episodes but as soon as she saw OMWF and Spike's cheekbones of sexiness in that scene in Rest in Peace (when he goes "mmmmm" and looks round at Buffy. Know which part I mean?) - well, after that she was hooked. 😀 Loves it now.

LOL the "mmmmmm" part. I know it well. :D
Several people. Some liked it in the end, with others it completely backfired.

My best victory was probably this guy who was sort of interested in the show after I showed him some episodes (the first one being The Wish), but not too invested because at that point he was so wrapped up with his girlfriend that as long as she didn't want to watch it, he wouldn't have the time for it either. Well, I guess you can already see where I'm going with this...
I just got HER very interested in the show (the key was going for hot Spuffy scenes in s6 first, and Spike in general, basically), and soon she just wanted more and more and more and I got them both to watch through the entire show twice with me 😀

Worst failure was another friend who was really really bored with the show, but still sorta tolerated us (itsxpaperdoll, if anyone remembers her, said couple, and me) to watch it in his room (cos he was the only one of us with a TV at that time, which is just so much better than watching DVDs on a laptop). One of the reasons why he let us watch is (I think) because I was sleeping with him at that time. Well...one night we were watching Buffy and I went to my room to get something. He followed me and wanted to make out and stuff, but I blocked him and said I really want to go back to watch Buffy. Uhm, yeah, ever since I think he really loathes the show...oops.

I want, want, want people to watch my fav shows very much, but I never force them. Some people decided to sit down and watch some episodes with me and most of them enjoyed it. But no one *loved* it. And another reason I don't force people is, I'm afraid they won't like it and I'll be upset. 😱 At least, my sis watches every DVD I have because she doesn't have to pay for anything. 😛

I got my best friends to watch it, I hadn't long been into it, but they loved it too, luckily. We used to sing songs from OMWF in class. 😀

Well, not exactly, force, lol, but yeah. 😀

I got my mom back into it and recently, my cousin. She became addicted quickly and bothers me so much to watch it that it actually gets annoying, lol.

Once I made my friend watch one episode with me.

After watching, she was like 'You actually like this stuff?'

I wanted to kick her out of my house. After that, I've learned my lection. Some people are just not awesome as we are.

I've never forced anyone to watch Buffy or Angel, I always watched that with one of my sister's and it was like our thing. People around me seemed so down on it that I couldn't be bothered.

I have however forced people to watch Dollhouse 😀 All with good results.
When I made my sis watch it I said something like "Okay, this is Topher. If you don't like him... we can't be friends anymore" (she loves him more than I do now, he's her favorite so that all worked out 🙂)

I make my mom and brother watch all my shows they've seen all of buffy and angel and charmed. My mom didn't like dollhouse so she has only seen some of it and she hasn't seen all of firefly. But she loves buffy and angel, she's in love with him lol. The only one of my shows they refuse to watch is one tree hill lol

My mom was the opposite she loves one tree hill I am beginning to think she loves it more than me these days. I picked on Lucas and she would be like just stop that lol.
I didn't force this... but a guy I used to go to school with asked on facebook what he should watch on netflix and I said Buffy and he asked how many seasons and I said 7 and he said he will definitely watch! I'm so excited!

Yayyy I so love Buffy virgins, so exciting. They don't know the amazing ride their in for!! 🙂

When I was a young one and watching Buffy as it aired I forced my two best friends to watch it. In so far as they were staying over in my place for a sleep over and it was all I'd allow us to watch. At first they were apprehensive as they were 9 at the time but soon they became hooked. Buffy used to air on a Friday and after that first watching they came over every Friday to watch it and we would have little Buffy quizzes after.

Our teacher was constantly asking who were Spike and Angel because we had I  Angel and I  spike written on every available space of our journals and notepads. We would enact scenes of Buffy in the yard every day without fail and after 'The Prom' aired we campaigned to have a prom for our class which for a bunch of eleven year olds is odd enough but in Ireland in the 90s it was just laughable and laugh they did.

It's pretty embarrassing stuff but we even sang "Virgin State of Mind" in front of our entire class for a talent show. Suffice to say we got in big trouble for that and everyone laughed. People thought we were so weird but we didn't care. We had the time of our lives and I think back so fondly on that time.

Two years ago I forced..ahem I mean introduced 😉 my flatmate to the world of BTVS and she's now as big a fan as I am and is a member of these here boards too.

To conclude, forcing (or as I like to think of it gentle persuasion) is definitely a good thing and I shall continue to convert the non-believers. I encourage more of it, but only to those who show potential guys. Selective forcing it is!😎😎😎

hhahaha to your second paragraph
My fabulous ex-boyfriend (I say fabulous because we're still best friends and really love each other) LOVES all things Joss ever since I begged him to watch Buffy with me. He loves Buffy, Angel, Firefly, and Dr. Horrible. Neither of us have had the chance to watch Dollhouse. (I know I know... be angry at me), but I definitely started the Joss love rolling for him. He actually just came over a couple of days ago and we watched some eppies together. It was fun times. We're doing it again next week lol
