Ever watched a TV series and thought it too long?

There's evidence that Paramount considered NextGen Star Trek (TNG, VOY, ENT) as one continuous show. If so, yes. Voyager's scenario couldn't support or inspire seven seasons. Enterprise needed a year or two off to rethink the show. I can't say I'm a fan of Doctor Who's "30 episodes over the course of five years, say, where did the time go, REGENERATE!" but you just can't go 15 years with the same premise.

Scrubs S8 was made solely to avoid putting the production team out of work during a recession. It has it's moments, it confirms that JD's vision of the future mostly happens, but it's not something I would watch again.
 
The Walking Dead and Supernatural are two of the biggest culprits. Shows like The Simpsons are not meant to have an actual ending, but TWD and Supernatural should have both ended much earlier. Supernatural had the perfect end point in S5.
 
Series go on longer than they should because the audience likes the characters and wants to see more of them. And this means the network can make more money from them. So, they make more. And then you end up with a series that's gone past their original plan and totally lose the plot, damaging the show in the process. There comes a time when really enough is enough; this rarely happens before it's too late.

That's the Husbands of River Song Christmas episode, right? Yeah I think Series 9 was the last good season of the modern show.
 
Star Trek: Voyager; waste of an idea and only two decent characters. Plus what they did to the Borg was a travesty.
ST: Enterprise (as in 'should never have existed)
Smallville; should've finished with Clark leaving for Metropolis. Much less 'freak of the week' and more character building stuff.

All of the Berlanti-verse (Arrow, The Flash, LoT, Batwamyn, Supergrrl). Actually, just delete it all, the DC brand is damaged enough as is.

Exactly! Picard is crapping himself and having an existential crisis and meanwhile Janeway is like 'Meh, whatever, I'll use my science vessel and a shuttle craft to defeat the Borg Queen.'

Mind you, everything Star Trek introduced they eventually managed to ruin; and that's before Discovery and NuTrek.

The title is deceptive and honestly outdated. The strength of the show is in the supporting cast, who have gradually been swapped out over the years. Meredith was never the most interesting character.

Walking Dead is the one I will never be able to understand. So many great storylines from the comic series were absolutely gutted or destroyed in favor of television-only nonsense. The show should’ve ended when Carl died. Instead we get spin offs about how Daryl (most overblown character in the show) is off in Europe or some nonsense.

Okay, I had assumed that the title derived solely from the medical textbook, not that it was a play on words.
Supernatural was about 10 seasons too long. Season 5 was a great ending. I recently tried starting at 13 to finish the series (I have all on DVD, last season on Bluray) and have watched 6-12 in binge spurts. I skipped most of 11 and 12. It’s just more and more of the same…

Nooo, supernatural had some not so good seasons but it was great. You need to finish watching it.

I had originally given up on Supernatural during season 12, when I realized I was paying so little attention that I couldn't remember an episode 30 minutes after watching it. So I decided to grunt through and watch it all.

Finished the other day and... Nope. it needed to end with season 5. There are certainly good episodes in later seasons, but most of them become too gimicky, plots are too overblown, and the final season was horrid.
 
I think many of us would agree that Supernatural went on for way, way, wayyyyy too long. And this is coming from someone who is a HUGE fan of the series, watched it religiously on air and have all the seasons on DVD.

In my humble opinion, it should have ended with S5. All that said, the ending was perfect.

No, you don't need to finish watching it.

I forget what season I peaced out on, but I haven't seen the ending. No desire to see the ending. Dont really care. Just wash your hands and move on. Every season was just rinse and repeat.

Despite some people trying to get me to watch the ending and get me to join another forum to discuss a show I dont care about at all, I shan't be doing that. Unless really bored. And don't even get me started on that cash-grab prequel.

That sequence where Picard takes command of the Fleet was perfection. Still gives me chills.

Poor Deanna. Cochrane kept trying to feel her up, plus she'd never heard of Tequila. When she finally hit the floor, I was dead. 😄

And I have to say, the Borg Queen was just amazing. Too bad Voyager ruined her AND the Borg.

The problem with Voyager was they were encountering the Borg too often. And if that had gone the way it should, the show would have been much shorter. The Borg needed to be much less common, like in TNG.
