Buzzfeed has ranked every Buffy couple... Thoughts? Personally I agree with most of it, but i'm a Bangel girl 😀

Who was your fave couple?
I cant post the thread because i'm new, but google: ranking the greatest couples from buffy the vampire slayer buzzfeed

It should be the first link to pop up!

Things are in generally the right sort of places for me. Maybe I'd shuffle one or two things around. I'd probably have named about four or five relationships as joint top, to be honest - I'm not good with the whole being decisive thing.

One point I'd disagree on is implying nobody cared about Olivia: I did! Mostly just in a "gee, I wish I was Giles right now" sort of way, but still. :redface2:

Welcome to the board, by the way.

Giles and Jenny as number one? Huh, that's interesting, I've never seen that one before. I always did think they were very sweet while together (stuttery Giles!) and are underlooked when it comes to some of the more popular shippings in the Buffyverse.

When they posted that episode ranking a few month ago I disagreed with absolutely everything, and now...well for the most part this list is okay. A few things I'd change around, rank Killow higher, rank Xanya bellow Spuffy and Spike/Dru, have Faith and Wood lower, same with Oz and Veruca. Manly switch a few other minor things around.

For the most part I agree with the top, maybe not in that order, but Twillow, Bangel and Giles/Jenny deserve the top spot.

It was an entertaining read, and I agreed for the most part. I would have put Tillow and Xanya (who I thought really lacked substance, and acted more as a framework to give Xander something to do) quite a bit lower. Bangel would have ranked number one and Spuffy probably number two, though I'd have to think about it a bit more. I would have liked to have seen the AtS characters on there as well, but get why they weren't included.

Not too bad of a list. Surprised they included Faith's one nighters. I'm a big fan of Oz and Willow, they are so adorable, I'd rank them above Xanya, which I don't really care about. Giles and Jenny are sweet and cute but I'm a Bangel fan so I'd put them #1.

19. Buffy and Parker

There's no tip toeing around it: Parker was an ass. The whole one night stand thing made him totally unlikeable, and anyone who doesn't call our Buffy back has to be ranked last.
18. Spike and Harmony
Spike and Harmony

Do I really need to explain why this was bad?

17. Willow and Kennedy

Kennedy just can't compare to Willow's past lovers. Plus, you know, she was kind of a brat.
16. Joyce and Ted

Joyce deserved to be happy, just not with an evil robot.

15. Giles and Olivia

It's adorable when Giles has a lady in his life, but did anyone really care about Olivia? Anyone?

14. Xander and Faith

This was a short lived romance (no offense Xander), and while it didn't really go anywhere, Faith was Xander's first, so that has to count for something.

13. Oz and Veruca

The only reason Oz was ever interested in this little home wrecker was because she made his werewolf senses tingle. Veruca caused Willow a lot of heartache which is NOT OKAY.

12. Faith and Principal Wood

We didn't really get to see this progress, but it was a believable coupling that had the potential to be something bigger.

11. Willow and Xander

This was easily one of the greatest friendships of the series, but it was better kept that way. Even though it was more of an affair than a relationship, it still never really worked. Interestingly enough, vamp Willow and Xander were happy together, so there's that.

10. Buffy and Riley

Riley doesn't deserve the hate he gets. No, really, for the most part he was a decent, kind, boyfriend. He also had a heartbeat which always helps. Admittedly, their relationship wasn't that spicy or challenging, so as a couple they weren't that exciting.

9. Giles and Joyce

What could be better than seeing Ripper and Buffy's mum make out on the hood of a police car? Nothing, in case you were wondering. It was a great match, and Buffy's horror towards it all made it even better.

8. Xander and Cordelia

Xander was able to crack Cordy's frozen heart and their relationship really helped her develop as a character. With all of that sexual tension it was a likeable pairing, but Xander repeatedly kissing Willow kinda' ended the whole thing. It happens.

7. Willow and Oz

A couple so adorable it physically hurts. Even though their love was enough to survive a few affairs (Xander and Veruca, i'm looking at you), Oz ultimately had to leave to find out how to control his lycanthropy. It was heartache all round, but it was beautiful while it lasted.

6. Spike and Drusilla

The passion and bat-shit craziness of these two made them incredible together. Even though their relationship was only spectacular in the early seasons, there was no denying the chemistry. When Spike was a straight up villian, this couple was downright impressive.

5. Buffy and Spike

Sorry Spuffy shippers, but let's be honest, Buffy never truly loved Spike and he knew that. His love for her, however, was admirable. Seriously, how many people would try and restore their soul out of love? While this relationship didn't provide much stability, it did produce a huge amount of passion. Their bedroom scenes could make Sasha Grey blush. At the end of the day it was exciting and fun to watch, but Buffy's heart wasn't completely in it.

4. Xander and Anya

Sure they had their ups and downs, but the love was there. They made each other happy, which isn't an easy thing to do when you live on a Hellmouth. It's still genuinely heartbreaking knowing that, after Anya's death, these two never got to be together again. All the emotions.

3. Willow and Tara

Seriously, why does Joss like killing off his characters so much? These two were truly magical together (sorry, not sorry for that one), and this relationship stands as Willow's greatest. Tara's death was enough for Willow to almost destroy the world. That sounds like true love to me

2. Buffy and Angel

This was meant to be from the beginning. Even Sarah Michelle Gellar ships these two. This is the one man Buffy never really got over, and their love both tested and overjoyed her. Yes Angelus caused an intense amount of pain, but technically Angel and Angelus are two different people, which is important to note here. And even after the Angelus saga Buffy still loved him. Although they could never really be together, they're soul mates, and deep down they both know that.

1. Giles and Jenny

It was as if you could feel your heart being ripped out of your chest when Jenny died. These two worked so well as a couple and that's why her death was so unbearable. Compared to these other great romances this had the least drama, and it made sense. It had so much potential and it was such a tragedy that it was cut short. Who didn't want Giles to be happy? Jenny did that for him. Ugh, the heartache

Mostly agree, much better list than the one done by someone else on there listing the episodes.

I'd have swapped Giles and Jenny with Willow and Tara.
Spike and Buffy would be lower.
Spike and Harmony would be higher - always found that amusing.
They didn't include them but I'd have put Buffy and Scott/Owen higher than Parker!
Kennedy and Willow would be higher, it's stupid they're below Oz and Veruca

Well, at least this time the poster appears to have actually watched the show.

Hmn, interesting list.

Nothing jumping out at me as completely wrong. Overall I do like Giles/Jenny an awful lot.

-Think Spike Harmony should've been higher. they were fun.
-Faith/Prinipal Wood...lower, way lower.
-Willow/Kennedy shouldn't have been so low, techinally they laster about 3 years, that should count for something.
-Good to see Spike/Drusilla so high, thet were a unique vampire couple, and at least Dru loved him back.
-The poster got Spuffy about right...except for the sex scenes being hot, I thought the majority of them we either sad or unintentionally hilarious.

I agree, I think people who enjoyed those scenes must have a weird notion of 'passion'
I find the list interesting too. I personally think Tillow was the greatest ship in Buffy, at least after only one watch. It started out slow, but I found them to be the most believable ship as well as the ship with the most natural chemistry. Besides that, they were interesting as well as groundbreaking together.

I'd move Xanya out of the top five and below Spuffy and Spike/Druscilla. Giles and Olivia shouldn't even be on the list. I had to stop and think a bit to even remember who Olivia was: that's how I know it's not even worth mentioning. Her total screen time was almost certainly under 3-4 minutes. We know nothing about this ship.

Number one made me clap. It came out of left field xD

Has anyone made a list of greatest Buffyverse characters? It's normally just BtVS.
