Everyone hates Eve, right?

Wrong... There's at least one fan who has a warm spot in his heart for Eve. That would be me.

I can't help thinking in the continuing pantheon of the corrupted sinners of ATS, Eve is going to turn out to be the most pitiful cry out for redemption and forgiveness.

Do you remember how in the early episodes Eve kept on talking about going to university in Southern California. I've invented this little story for myself where Eve was an innocent in school who met a charming corrupter of women named Lindsey MacDonald. After university, Lindsey got Eve a job at the law firm he was working at - Wolfram & Hart.

I keep remembering Eve saying to Fred, "I'm not the bad guy here." I think Eve honestly wants to think of herself as a good person.

Another thing that keeps going through my brain is how Joss loves ironic names. Biblically speaking "Eve" was the corrupter of man. How ironic will it be if Eve turns out to be herself the most pitifully corrupted. Also Joss is very pro-woman. I think he is going to turn out to be very pro-Eve.

Ok at this point I have to make a comment that is rated PG. I'll put it in spoilers so the younger members can avoid it. It has to be said.

Did you get the feeling in A Hole in the World, when Angel and his crew busted into Lindsey's secret room, that Eve had been masturbating? In that particular situation, isn't that sad, and kind of humilating being burst in on like that? How the mighty have fallen.

Eve finds herself in a most pitiful situation right now; alone, scared, holed up in a seedy motel room, robbed of the pride so evident in the early episodes, hated by people she appeared to have secret respect for.

Eve-haters will say, "looks good on her after what she's done", but hang on a sec. Faith, Angel and Spike have killed people. We've forgiven them. Why can't Eve climb aboard the forgiveness train. Isn't ATS all about the need for redemption and forgiveness.

One thing, before anyone dares to make the blatantly incorrect comment I see coming, I'm going to reply to it right now. You're wrong. Sarah Thompson is a good actress.

Hmm, some interesting theories, especially that one.....

I don't like the Eve, as in, I don't think she and I woud be buddies, but I like her character being there, I think she serves a purpose.... I just wish that they would develope her character a little better.

I think that a lot of people don't like her character (I don't really think we're supposed to) and they then go ahead and say that they don;t like her being there at all. I think there's a purpose to her presence, they'll show it to us eventually.

As for Sarah Thompson not being a good actress, I don't like Eve... I'm not supposed to, that shows that Sarah is doing her job, and that she's doing well.

She already is, IMO, never did I see a character sink so low.

Musn't forget to mention Andrew the Cruel. I think that if Angel would've gone on, Eve would've be dealt with in terms of a redemption, but now it doesn't look that way.

I have only seen her in this role, which IMO, she has done pretty well, so I'm not yet a fan of her, but she isn't any bad.

I have nothing against Eve's acting ability. I really don't care much about her. I mean, if she left Angel next week, I wouldn't care, but on the other hand it's not like I hate her character.

I just don't like her, i never really liked Riley and wished he would just leave and i was thankful when he did leave! Eve seems... annoying to me and she and i just don't click like the other characters do... it's just one of those things...

Yes! I pro-Eve thread. I agree with what you said nerd4hire, I think she's just a troubled young girl that got mixed in the wrong crowd. I really hope they set her on the road to redemption by the end of this season. We need to assemble all the Eve lovers ... there has to be more of us out there somewhere. 😉

Man, if you haven't been noticing a strong Joss Whedon influence in Angel Season 5 so far, you haven't been watching the same season I have.

I just watched the episode again. I continue to suggest there is good reason to suspect what I suggested.

Having not seen the episodes (UKer) I can only elaborate on this. As Andrew says, a lot of Buffy's friends have killed someone. Willow, Xander, Spike, Angel, Giles, Anya to name all I can remember.

I am not a fan of Eve, but I did truely feel sorry for her in this episode, and I may yet come to like her depending on what happens with her charcter later on. I do agree Sarah Thompson is a good actress.

I am very fascinated by Eve...

Sarah Thompson is just fine. Small, fragile and beautiful. She is almost portraying her character perfectly.

Eve is cute and sweet but at the same time coniving and kinda evil I guess. But the latest development seems to have altered her character a bit and made it even better. All humiliated and scared...kinda pathetic...but in a sweet way. This girl just need some love...

Perhaps U have to be a guy to like her...She activates that primate savior instincts. She needs to be saved and U want to hold her. But she disappoints U occationally. The same feeling Faith brought up. Well at least in my head...

I still haven't figured out why she's gone bad though. I doubt it would be in any sane human's best interest to support evil. I just think she got under a bad spell from Lindsey. I bet she will get her redemption in the end.

It has been great with some new blood in the serie. Both Spike and Eve have made it more interesting. I think some of the regular characters was becoming a bit predictabel and boring. I got a bit tired of Fred and I'm looking forward to see the new "evil - Fred". It is about time Amy gets to show some other qualities...

Btw; I think Lorne and Harmony should pick a fight with some demons their own size 🙂

Hey, if Leviathan's theory turns out to be correct it would suggest an interesting phenomena, don't you think?

I mean, I notice the modern female psyche doesn't have any problem getting behind a female bitch character if she has her own personal power and independence. Witness all the female fans of characters like Faith, Lilah, or even early Cordelia.

Eve's bitchiness however is portrayed as weakness - a vulnerability. Guys don't have a problem with that. Women however, say "Bollocks to that idea".

Offering an excuse for Ash, I'm pretty sure he was just merrily typing away, and Xander slipped in there without him really thinking about it. The basic premise of his statement is true, though. There are a lot of killers in the Buffyverse in need of redemption.

Xander is however indirectly responsible for the death of Angel is season two of Buffy, so he's still EVIL 😉

Interesting question. Is it murder if you kill a vampire? What if you add a soul? Murder implies death right? Angel keeps telling us he's already dead. What does that mean anyway?

So even if Xander had killed Angel, would Xander have been a killer? Can you kill something that's already dead? Would Xander have required redemption?

Also even if killing Angel was murder, you'd have a tough time making a criminal case for Xander's part in it.

Here are my thoughts on Eve and I'm probably completely wrong on this.
Eve doesn't seem good to me. She doesn't seem evil. She doesn't even seem human.
I think Eve is more powerful than Linsey, but that she is also pretty clueless about the world on some level. Maybe she is some type of primordial power that was made human (similar but not the same as Dawn). She is the liasion to the Senior Partners.
That is important and it implies that Eve has some type of special power or knowledge.
Linsey needed tatoos and spells to hide from the Senior Partners, Eve is just camped out in her apartment. She knew about Linsey and was able to betray the Senior Partners without them plucking his location or her disloyalty from her brain. Also, everytime Angel's group asks Eve for an answer she is able to give it to them. An ordinary girl who joined W&H (Lilah for instance) wouldn't have that ablity. Eve is strange. I kind of like her and hope that we find out more about her soon.

I dont agree...I think she is very human indeed. The senior partners know she has betraid them and she is very frightend. She stays at Lindsey's appartment, not her own. Lindsey's got the cloacking symbols on the walls, which U notice when the hill-billy bunch enters the appartment just after Eve's playtime (good one hehe).
