Everything Sucks!

It looks like they are trying to capitalize on the nostalgia of Stranger Things. But that show works because the 80s is merely the setting not that the show is ABOUT the 80's. This doesn't feel like a show for me but I wish it well. I'm sure the 90's jokes will be funny.

It seems like someone just said "Let's make Freaks & Geeks for the 90s" without really having an idea other than that. It looked lazy and uninspired.

So the parents of the main HS couple fall for each other? That storyline anyways annoys me.

If it gets good reviews and buzz, I'll probably end up checking it out.

I liked the top trailer, it might appeal to the kids that are the same age as we were when freaks and geeks came out. Im pretty bored of high school settings myself, but its nice they've picked actors who look the right age. I'll probably put it on for a background lol one day.

I do NOT miss that internet connection sound. Kinda bizarre to see how quick technology has changed our lives.

Me and a friend just binged the entire season. Was really good. Whomever made the 2nd trailer should be ashamed. Was much better than the trailer. Give it a chance. Excellent soundtrack as well 🙂

Think that's one of the things for me. Because I grew up in the 90's then maybe it doesn't feel so retro or interesting to me. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of things I look back on in fondness from that time period, but those things I can remember clearly and I tend to re-watch stuff from that period which I liked anyway.

Watched the first two. Its watchable, but not much more than that for me. But I'll give it a proper chance before judging.

Does that include something like the Stranger Things? Or is that different because of the Sci-Fi elements?

Yeah, I saw a few of those. I prefer thematically mature content. Not interested in stereotypes of nerdy kids trying to get the hang of life. And I usually don't find their experiences as relatable to my own, of these types of shows I have seen. I'm sorry if I come across as a killjoy. If someone likes that stuff I don't mean to give offense.

That's fair. I guess one way I look at it is because kids/teens are so often poorly written on TV/Film then I think its nice to see them being given strong characters and having things represented from their POV. Plus I do have nostalgia for the 80s and for the Spielberg style kids adventures. You have to pick and choose mind😉

You guys didn't even watch the show and are being so harsh on it. It was great. It's very different from Stranger Things though they are somewhar similar. Everything Sucks! has a poc main character and the main female character realizes she's a lesbian. That alone makes it different from most shows. It's cute, the characters are all very likable and strong; the romance is interesting and adorable; there are some seriously stylish characters, etc. It's well worth a watch. I don't want to give too much away.

Yeah err, you might think the characters are strong and likeable but that doesn't mean they are. Based on those trailers and the show, what were you watching, a much more interesting thing to do is stand in a field during a storm and count the number of times you get hit by droplets of rain.

I have seen the first few episodes. Not real keen so far. I did have a lol at the dramatic duo. We totally had them at my school. And random music tributes/songs/dances in public for teenage reasons. And saturday detention 🙁

I can see why it would appeal to the kids who have not seen this done to death. I like the lead boy, he is a sweetie. Not bingeworthy for me. Stranger things had a very different appeal.
