Evil Cordy

I'm a little confused regarding the entire thing. Am I to understand that Joss had wanted Cordelia to go evil in season four as a character decision, and not because she's possessed? If so, that's a retarded idea. I keep hearing that Joss didn't like Charisma and never wanted to keep Cordelia. If that's true, I would have to say he's a douche bag for that. And also, if he was going to have Cordy go evil because she wanted to, then I'm GLAD she went and got pregnant.

Anyway, regarding evil Cordy. I liked her. She was an EXCELLENT Big Bad, and I thouht Charisma did a very good job. I liked Lilah but thought her deah was cool. And there's NOTHING wrong with a "shock factor" being used now and then.

While watching season four, I did miss the old Cordy very much. But I was okay because I figured once she wasn't evil she'd be in season five, and be her old self again. I was very upset with the way they treated the character after Jasmine was born, though.

And I honestly don't understand everyone saying how Cordy being possessed ruined her character. SHE. WAS. POSSESSED. Meaning that everything Evil Cordy does in season four is not an action of Cordy, but of the thing inside her. They didn't need to redeem her character because she doesn't need redemption, she didn't kill those people. She wasn't in control of herself, she was trapped in her own body. That's how I understood it anyway...season 4 Cordy is someone else so technically the character was not "ruined" within that season.

I did think it was an incredibly stupid and foolish move to write her out of the show completely after the fourth season, and they treated her memory like shit. Until the 100th episode she was hardly ever mentioned, as though no one cared about her. That pissed me off.

I liked evil Cordelia, what I didn't like was that was given as little airtime as the season long Big Bads on Buffy are given, she should have been given the same amount she always had instead of a few scenes here and there....I just wish she wouldn't have been killed off, her conflict with them taking over Wolfram & Hart would have been worth more than one episode.....

As for Cordelia's "motivation", maybe she'd still be possessed but Jasmine would just be controlling her and would not have been "delivered"...and eventually Cordy herself would have had the power to make people worship her?

I have heard that Charisma wasn't well loved among some of the crew, not sure why because I thought she did an awesome job with Cordelia. I missed her character it added that light comedy Angel needed.

What did you guys think when Cordelia became evil? Did you like the idea or did you hate it? I would have liked the writers of Angel to have gone along with the original story of her becoming evil which didn't involve the pregnancy but Charisma became pregnant so it was impossible. It would have also been cool to have Cordelia and Angel have a big fight at the end of the season.

I think I would have been ok with evil-Cordelia-without-being-pregnant. I suppose they could have still done a possession thing without a pregnancy. I'm sure just about any storyline without a pregnancy would have been better... but she got pregnant to it had to be written into the story. 🙁

I do feel that Evil Cordy spent way too much time locked up in her room. They should have made it so that she was involved with the gang more instead of having Connor eavesdrop for her. That being said, I still liked the character.

I assume that Charisma was probably told by a doctor to keep the physical activity to a minimum that's why she was always sitting or lying down.

I didn't get it til then either. :wtf: I had to re-watch that episode several times.

I love the character but when I think about the fact that it wasn't really Cordy for a whole season, it kinda bothers me.

They never did make it very clear at what point Jasmine took control of Cordelia's body. That irritated me.

Wondering... does anyone know what they would've done had Charisma not become pregnant? I mean, I get the whole high-brought-low, showdown-with-Angel business, but what would've been her motivation? Why would a non-possessed Cordy go evil? And, how would that have effected Connor's storyline (if at all)? What about the Jasmine stuff? Or would Cordy become a hippie cult leader on her own?

I haven't heard what he had planned, had she not become pregnant. I would love to know the answer to this though.

I agree and I feel the same way about Angel. They said the soul leaves and a demon takes over the body when someone is turned into a vampire so it technically wasn't him who killed people, including Jenny, it was a demon controlling his body. :: vampire but that's probably best left for a different thread.

I thought they did it because Charisma said she was tired of playing the same character after 7 years and wanted to do something different after her maternity leave ended.
