I understand that she was grieving and all powerhyped and the such, but what I don't understand is why she went off the deep end. Yeah, she loved Tara, but when Buffy died she didn't do anything. I know she had planned to resurect her and all, but even she had to have known that might not have worked. And I know she was as powerhyped but if I were to lose my bestfriend to some big white light, I'd be looking for someone, anyone to blame and go psycho on them. Maybe Willow was just at her last straw and couldn't take anymore death so that pushed her all the way, but I think she over reacted a little, not that those episodes weren't good, I just think they were really dramatic.

Sorry but I've got to disagree on this one. I've heard people say about this before but I don't think she over reacted. I thought it was understandable.

Firstly, there was dark magic inside her which affected the way she acted. We saw this earlier when she went crazy, and although by Seeing Red it seemed cleared up, it was still nested inside her.

There were big differences between Buffy's and Tara's death. Buffy sacrficed herself to save the world, and Willow could accept that more than how Tara was unexpectadly shot. And she loved Tara, that makes it a lot harder for her.

And Willow didn't go all psycho apocalyptic when Tara was shot, she just wanted vengeance, which is understandable. It was only when she filled herself with dark magic that she lost all control of Willow completely.

Her actions might have been wrong, but I they're understandable.

Yup, and we're not trying to say it was right.. just trying to understand.. which I do as well... Well put.
[Agrees with everything Croft Storm just said...]

And it was also a different situation. Willow, Xander and Buffy had drifted apart as friends, all through the last seasons. And Willow many times says that the only good thing in her life was Tara, well not the only good thing, but the thing that made her live and be happy and so on. In a very different way than Buffy did.. I mean in some way Buffy is expected to die. That doesn't make it easier but Tara wasn't in the good vs. evil war like Buffy was.

And also, Willow had learned far more magic in this season. And the biggest reason she didn't go too far with that even before.. was because of Tara.

I think that love does things to you, makes you do things that you wouldnt normally think of, because love takes over you. When you lose someone that you really love, the pain is so immense that sometimes you just cant control it.

At least IMHO 🙂

Yup, I agree with that! I don't want to have to experience it (well, we all will, I just hope to delay it as long as possible). Just thinking about losing someone close to me hurts. But to have it happen in such an unexpected, random, pointless way and at that particular moment...well, I think I woulda been looking for some payback too. I'd be using everything in my power to capture and punish those responsible. With Willow, the dark magics just took that feeling and ran with it, thus the destroy the world thing...

Besides, we dont know how Willow would have reacted if the ressurection spell didnt work on Buffy. We saw her break down when she thought it didnt work but she saw buffy pretty soon after that. If she thought Buffy was gone forever, who knows what couldve happened.

She didnt go off the deep end til she found out she couldnt bring Tara back. At first she had the same type of reaction she did to Buffy dying.

Yes willow didn't react as badly when buffy die, but for many reasons.

One, buffy chose to die, she took her own life. Whereas tara was killed, and willow wanted revenge a lot of willows anger came from a thirst for revenge, not just grief. Although willow may have felt this thirst when buffy died there wasn't really anyone to seek revenge from.

Two, Willow clearly loved tara more than buffy, buffy was her best friend and she loved her but tara was the love of her life she'd have done absolutely anything for her.

Three, when buffy died willow had tara to keep her grounded, whereas without tara we know willow was inclined to go off the deep end anyway, tara stopped her from doing anything stupid or at least tried to. So when tara died willow had noone to keep her grounded, although buffy and xander tried they were still in effect poor substitutes for tara.

Four, willow hadn't used the magicks for months so when she did she was vunerable to them and they had a greater affect on her. its like if you dont drink for a few months then you can only drink half as much as you could before without getting drunk

I think as people have already said, Buffy gave up her life, Willow can accept that but Tara was murdered. Also I think Willow may have felt responsible for it as she brought Tara into the group.

I dont think she over reacted, it was the dark magicks taking over.

Plus its Dark Willow!!!!!! It was totally cool

At first dark Willow scared me, I mean Jonathan was right, she was just Willow, the sweet never hurt a fly type of person. But when you mess with the love of her life, you better watch out, we already saw a little bit of how angry she will get if you mess with Tara with Glory, but that was nothing compared to what Warren did.

As for her not acting the same way with Buffy, that was totally different, first cus Buffy did do it willingly, to save everyone. Second cus she was planning on bringing her back, and third cus she wasnt in love with Buffy there is always a different reaction when its someone you love that deeply. Yes, Buffy was her best friend and she did love her, but not the way she loved Tara, not anywhere near the same. Its totally different.

well willow went to the big end but it was not a over reaction when tara died the first thing to come to mind was magic since that was her connection her addiction before...i think it was a perfect way to show how willow reacted to tara being shot 🙁 and with buffy she wouldnt have acted the same since buffy did it willingly she jumped off.. and taras death was by a gun it was murder... and willow wasnt in love with buffy like she was with tara. plus she could bring buffy back since it was a magical death and not natural liek taras

I agree that between her love for Tara, and just how Tara died were a huuuge influence on how Willow reacted. Another thing I thought to bring up though, is the overall situation at the time of Tara vs. Buffy's deaths. I mean, we all saw that everyone reacted not so great when Buffy died, but that was it. By the end of season 6, Willow had all that emotional stress and what not, on top of her recent breakup/ reunion with Tara, the guilt for the events of Tabula Rasa, the guilt of bringing Buffy out of heaven, her struggle with her magic addiction, the loss of her father-like figure Giles, the drama surrounding Xander and Anya's failed marriage.... can you see where I'm going with this? Season 6 was a very heavy and emotional season for all the characters, and that, if nothing else, would have taken a very dramatic toll on Willow.

So overall, I don't think she "overreacted" persay, I think she did what made sense at the time. She was furious, hurt, and lashed out in the first way that came to mind (if you remember, she first just wanted to bring Tara back... she really only started to get super dark when her request was refused).

And of course, as M-A-R-K said, dark willow WAS really cool! 😉

I don't think she overeacted at all, we know she gets really upset when a loved one dies or leaves, look at when Ox left, anyway, those episodes rocked, i loved her dark. No she didn't overreact.

i loved dark willow and hell no did she overreact tara was her world and she had a right to act the way she did, great episodes muahahahahahahahahah evil warren die

Willow loved Tara a whole bunch and it obviously affected her in a great deal of pain and grief. I mean, the person you love being shot right before you...and their blood being splattered on your shirt, that has to hurt you inside.

I know that if somebody did something alike that to one of my best friends I'd go berserk and hurt them, not kill them...but hurt them. Everyone and anyone has feeling inside, they have action and reactions.

Willow reacted with magic, her strong ways, she was trying so hard to keep that magic hidden, beneath...not able to be brought out but then something as devastating...the reason why she pretty much stopped magic...when that reason/person died...there was no point, Warren was a dead-man is willow's eyes.

Willow felt pain, grieving, cutting, scathing pain.

evil willow rules, hummmm 🙂 yes i agree with you tabulaxrasa, love can make you do exterordianry things.....powerful shit... 🙂 lol

I really , really disagree with you on this i don't think it was to dramatic. Willow LOVED tara. Buffy on the other hand died for a cause tara didn't. Plus the magics were in willow and tara's death caused her pain with made her want vengence on warren. We all want venegence when someone we love dies and since the magics were the thing she knew she used them... i think it was perfect the way they did the ending in s.6 those episodes were great!!!
another thing she didn't over react like i said when someone dies grief over takes u and u can get angry or depressed or suicidle it's all part od life and death and again like i said they portraid that very well with willow.

eccept the whoel witch craft thing u know i don't think ppl would flay someone 🙂

muahahahahahahaahahaa well if i had the power i prob would....very protctive you see.... maybe small ( height and weight) but hurt someone i care about i turn 😀 muahahahahahahahaahhaah

I loved Dark Witch Willow. She's prolly my third favorite big bad? The top three are all real close... I love everything about vengeance, in fact, if I could have been one monster in Buffy or Angel, I probably would have been a vengeance demon. Oooh new topic idead ;-).
