Are you trying to do more exercise this year, join us in supporting each other in our exercise goals.

Well, I did say I wanted to do yoga and pilates. Let's see how long that lasts...

I really do need to do something to increase my flexibility though, as it's the area where I'm most lacking in fitness. And I did buy some yoga DVDs for 50p.

I could never make it in a gym, I would be just too bored. But since I joined the Latin dance circuit, I have gotten a bit more fit and lost seven pounds. Now that my Border Collie is 16 years old, he can't walk as far as he used to, so dancing is a good substitute for the 6 km walks we used to do.

It was cool enough today to get on the rowing machine, so I am very happy I got to do that. Its so lovely with the little pond waterfall going next to me.
And then I jump up on the edge of the pond for my weights. They are only 2kilo dumbbells but seem plenty challenging enough for me. Its so fun watching the fish 😀 Stepping up onto the pond has been excellent for my hip strength. I'm now walking completely differently and can feel the balls of my feet again 😀 So I want to keep doing this to remind my muscles how to walk even when my brain forgets.

I do want to get into a regular routine of going for more walks. Not only good from an exercise perspective, but good for your mental health to just switch off for 30 minutes (or more), get some fresh air.

And back into my weights. Like you @November I've got something light (2.5kg) but it's about what exercises you do and of course, how often you do them.

I walk with much better posture if I get on the rowing machine before walkies. It seems to untwist me, so that when I do go out walking, Im using the right muscles instead of just trying to balance on whatever is working today. But there is not enough time to get on the rowing machine before it heats up too much for walkies. Im looking forward to summer being over.

Fatigue is a massive issue for me too right now. I do the walk, see the horses, water the garden and whatever other chores I have to do and I am completely wiped out. Getting fitter does not seem to be happening, just crash for hours after anything I do.

Does playing pool count as exercise? If so then I got about an hours exercise today, but still lost every game bar one when the white was potted immediately after the black.

Woot! If it does, I can count every night at the pub as exercise 😀

I'm surprised I havent put on weight in the last week. Drinking alcohol, eating pizza, snacks, sausages, a kilo of potatoes, bacon, entire blocks of chocolate... I blew up a bit last night but it didnt show any weight on the scales. I was really stiff and sore yesterday, the few days of horse work has been actual work for my body, I can definitely feel it. I dont want to lose any muscle I have built, but dont have any horses to look after this week!

After a four year hiatus I am getting back into yoga. It is a humbling experience. A lot of ”but I used to be able to…”

I said I hoped to start yoga this year. Or pilates. It is now half way through March...
Hell yeah! I’m actually doing pretty good with my exercise goals. I’ve been doing Pilates and yoga most everyday and trying to do come sort of cardio three times a week. I can’t go it for long because I’m so out of shape, but it’s better than nothing and I know I’ll build strength with time. Now that it’s warming up here, it’s more pleasant to exercise outside which I prefer. I will either jog, walk, bike or hike. Once it gets hot though, around mid May, I won't be able to exercise comfortably outside anymore, so the plan is to join the YMCA again and swim twice weekly.

Migraine wiped out a lot of my progress again. Can barely lift the 2kilo dumbbells so back to just using one at a time. Rowing is out. Walkies have been as long as I can manage. Stretching is good and nice but now the airtrack is deflated cos its cooler haha. Vacuuming is a workout this week!

It turns out that wearing ankle weights around the house doesn't just build muscles in your legs, it also improves your glutes. Which I did not know.

Yes, they give you a firmer butt. 😀

Still dancing three nights a week and staying in reasonable shape. The dog is actually beginning to take longer walks, so it looks like this is the shape I am going to be in for a while.

Going to try to get 10,000 steps in a day again. I'll do it occasionally but not everyday.

I went for a short walk before work this morning so I've started at least.
