Expect the unexpected

True. I used to try to not expect anything, so I wouldn't be disappointed later.. But then someone told me that I should expect things, and be happy about them for as long as possible, 'cause then if it didn't turn out to be true, at least I had been happy there for a while... And all that stuff.

Ok I see what you're saying. But can you really decide to stop expecting something? Well in theory yeah you can. I'd still not call it all circle as much as a back and forth thing, uh... 😀

Well its kinda not up to you TO decide, the parameters of the opening gambit, expected the UNexpected, has decided that for you.........
ok granted its an A leads to B which leads back to A and so on....

very true, Epo...but what if you have negative expectations (which i'm dealing with right now)? you could be happy that the results are not what you expected, but you could become even more bummed, because the results were EXACTLY what you expected.

but if they are unexpected expectations, because they are unexpected they can't let you down...can they?

Yes or I could just not use the word and say **** whoever came up with the word and just feel the feeling instead, are we then still talking about expectations. Argh we Are doing philosophy!

"MY BRAIN HURTS!" - Pointy Python Gumby

Betcha didn't expect that 🙂

oh, Mr. P...don't get our Al started again!!
my head hurts too!

Yeah but what if you consider this from the majority of people.... like something could be expected by you for some reason but unexpected by other ppl.. therefore the thing is still unexpected and you expect ppl to find it unexpected when yourself expect it.... so what is happening is partly expected but unexpected for most ppl.... what does it make it then?

i didnt read all this cos i got way to confused so sorry if someone has already said this but i dont expect anything. that way everythings unexpected and therefore everythings expected.

that makes sense in my twisted head. i think. hmm. yeah.

ahh, but if you expect the unexpected, doesnt matter if its 1 person, 100 people or a million, as long as they expect the 'unexpected', they turn that unexpected into expected as they are expecting it, thus they should disregard it, as it is expected, meaning that now, the expected is ignored, giving it its unexpected status, thus bringing it back into the parameters of what one should expect, making it expected again.
In truth, you you can never expect the unexpected, because the second you expect it, it becomes expected, BUT the second you DO expect it, you must disregard it because you are told to expect the UNexpected.

Yeah and then you first expected something bad, then got the bad thing. Better to expect something ok or good, and then try to make things good.. Then you have a bigger chance of actually getting unexpected good stuff. I believe. Hm.

I guess the key is to not try to assume too much at all. Just keep cool and expect everything to turn out for the best. Hah. I could so never to that...

If you expect the unexpected than you unexpect the expected than you'd end up being the most paranoid person in the world. You might as well by 12 copies of Catcher in the Rye and live alone, with your own newspaper, that only 8 people receive, about how the government is evil and everything you've ever read in a newspaper is alive and aliens do exist.

I just think its a funny expression. 😀

OK, that makes as much sense as Chewbacca growing up on Endor(thanx for that SP, use it alot!!)
Being told to expect the unexpected does not mean you start getting all paranoidy and weird...and i don't even wanna touch 'unexpect the expected'......
