Before "Expendables 3" was even released, there was talk about a fourth movie in the series, "ExpendaBELLES," consisting of an all woman team. Assuming that Sarah, as one of the relatively few women who might qualify as an action star, were offered a part, do you think that she would take it? And, if she did, would that influence your decision whether or not to watch the movie?

I would watch that, as it is a deliberate reference to her being Buffy, and not her 'selling out'... those films have a spoofy type feel to me, which I don't mind, not that I've seen them.

I think it would be entertaining, and I'd love to see the intertextual references

I don't really think she should take the role if they offered it to her. I have only seen the first Expendables movie, but I feel like they're just trying to cash in on big names. But maybe she would take it anyway. I probably would, because I'm sure the pay check is gigantic.
On the other hand, an all female action film would be pretty cool, if it was done right. But I don't know if I'd actually watch it. Depends on how the trailers look, I guess.

Nice idea, but sounds like a bit of unlikely gossip more than an idea.

So who would even be in it anyway?

Any thoughts about who you'd like to see?

Maybe discount any actresses who couldn't beleivably pull off the action stuff (so no Jessica Alba, Pamela Anderson or Keira Knightly thanks...😛)

What about...

Sarah Michelle Gellar (obviously)
Linda Hamilton
Lucy Lawless
Summer Glau
Gina Torres
Lucy Liu
Angelina Jolie
Rachel Nichols (only thing I could stand about the first G,I Joe movie)
Eliza Dushku (come on, who does action better?)

Bad Guys or Girls in this case would be...Lena Heady, Michelle Rodrigez and Maggie Q

Man, I really wish this were actually happening. 😀

Buffy, Faith and Xena in one film: mind blown, I'd have to spend a month recovering... the only thing missing would be Gabrielle

You left out Kristen Kreuk, who, aside from her various TV and movie roles, is supposed to be a quite skillful martial artist in real life.

Add Cote de Pablo (Ziva David on NCIS) and Daniella Ruah (Kenzie Blye on NCIS LA) and you could have a kickass movie. Actually, quite a few female stars are athletic enough to get the job done. Just for kicks, add in Jamie Lee Curtis - it was pretty good when she clocked Arnold Schwartzenegger in True Lies. And throw in Tia Carrere and Renee O'Connor.

We could develop quite a good list here. But be sure to add Renee Felice Smith (Nell Jones on NCIS LA) so that Sarah can be taller than someone in the cast.

Yea I would watch it if Sarah were in it and I totally would like to see her kick ass again. Rumor was that Sigourney Weaver turned down Expendabelles when see saw the script for Expendables 3 or something like that. Which is a shame cuz I love Sigourney Weaver and want to see her kickass again too.

Who else would I want to see? Hmm...
Eliza of course, although she needs to bulk up a lot more, she's so skinny now. But she makes a convincing badass.

I saw Linda Hamilton recently on Defiance and she's not looking to good so I don't know if she'd be up to it, but she could just be in it with no action maybe.

Michelle Yeoh and Ziyi Zhang from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Lucy Lawless even though I haven't seen Xena, I just know she's badass in that.

Angelina Jolie, even though I'm not a fan of hers, she does a lot of action.

Chloe Grace Moretz, I loved her as Hit Girl in the Kick-Ass movies.
Others would be Milla Jovovich, Lucy Liu and Katee Sackhoff.

I would love to see an all female action movie like Expendables, so if they do go through with Expendabelles, let's hope they get a great cast cuz there are a lot of badass women out there to chose from. I say mix up the ages as well, old school action stars with newer ones would be awesome.

I forgot Zoe Saldana. After seeing her as Gamora in Gaurdians of the Galaxy, she is kickass.

It's a slightly sad state of affairs that the main Expendables movies can pick from hosts of movie-based talent while our hypothetical female spin-off pretty much has only a TV-based talent pool to pick from. Why haven't there been more female-led action films?

I noticed that too.

Blame Hollywood producers I guess- all guys.
I didn't know I needed this until now. Why is it that we can't have a badass female cast action movie.

Thanks for the link. Cool picture, I like most of the cast it had. Helen Mirren is awesome and was great in the RED movies which are kind of like the expendables. The list that they had for 20 bad ass characters was pretty good, but left out a lot of better ones. I can't wait to see who they get for the movie I will probably go see it no matter what though, just cuz I love kick ass female characters. But it does seem like there are a few names that everyone can agree on so hopefully they will get those actresses.

I hope that there is no Expendabelles movie. It just doesn't make any sense as far as I can see. The Expendables was created as a throw back to the 80's action era. It was meant for people who had grown up discussing who would win out of Matrix, McClane and Rambo. It was a nostalgic idea, going back to a time when action movies were made differently than they are now. The stars of the movie are action stars first and foremost. When you see there name you're expecting something to blow up. The first movie was a bit of a false start, with Stallone trying to make it a bit too much like a modern buddy movie and missing the mark. The second film was fantastic and what we were all hoping for. It felt like a natural sequel to Commando and took us all back to the glory days. The less said about the third film with it's 12A rating and team of children the better. So with all the big name action stars and goodwill of an old fanbase they've got a 1.5 out 3 hit rate.

Which brings me on to The Expendabelles. There is no glory days to recreate here. There has never been an era of big female action stars for a film like this to try and remind us of. The actresses mentioned are actresses who have had action roles, not action stars.

That's not to say I object to an all female or female led action ensemble. I just think The Expendabelles would be coming at it from entirely the wrong angle, looking back on something that hasn't happened. I think it would need a good writer or director to come up with a fresh idea and start something new and with it's own merit. I wouldn't have it as part of the existing series and I wouldn't market it as the female version of it either.

Couldn't agree more!
Apparently we aren't the only ones speculating about the new team

http://boomstickcomics.com/2013/10/the-expendabelles-is-actually-happening-with-big-names/

and, notice, we aren't the only ones thinking about Sarah as a team member.

I'm not really sure about this...Meryl Streep? Cameron Diaz?

Geez- did nobody see the awful wire-fu crap that was 'Charlies Angels'? We're looking for convincing action stars, not nessesarily the biggest names they can grab.

This'll turn into Expendables 3 too damn quickly. Hollywood. 🙄

Still, kicking myself for forgetting about Sigourney, she's pretty much the original and Zoe Saldana is a new face to add.🙂

This is kinda fun, but I still have my doubts about any of this becoming a reality.

There's Cynthia Rothrock, certainly not the greatest actress in the world, but no one can deny her qualifications as a convincing action star.

And the movie is serious enough that Segourney Weaver has already officially said that she won't be involved/
