Facebook bans news in Australia

I'm with facebook on this. People linking articles is free publicity. If news outlets want to get paid, then put the articles behind a pay wall.

In the clash between corporate monsters, I am going Zuckerberg rather than Murdoch this time. Forcing facebook to pay would not be good for democracy.

Well you have a point with Zuckerberg VS. Murdoch.
If news outlets want to get paid, then put the articles behind a pay wall.
And that's what many are doing. But they sorta have to do it what with printing declines.

I think the idea that Facebook/Google can be 'charged' for what articles are posted is just a cash grab with ramifications that could go far beyond just the news. For instance, when would reviewers start charging Rotten Tomatoes when they use their review?

So? No problem then. Facebook provides the link and the readers must subscribe to the newspaper to read. It should be a good deal for both parties.

What, are we gong to make statistics illegal now?
