Faith and Finances

Here's another one of those stray questions that seem to pop up in my poor fatigued mind at this time of night: How did Faith pay her rent before the Mayor came along? Granted, she was living in a flea bag motel, but she had to pay somebody something. Somehow, I doubt that Giles gave her any money, so how did she manage? One possibility that comes to mind is that she recovered various valuables from the assorted demons she killed, but someone out there must have a better idea.

Well remember in Faith, Hope & Trick when the motel manager comes asking for the rent? I feel like she didn't pay.

She put the motel manager off in "Faith, Hope, and Trick," but she couldn't have done that forever.

Well I would think after she was part of the group so to speak, the Watcher's Council probably paid, would be my guess anyway.

Actually this has always been an issue for me.
The Slayer is supposed to be focused on Slaying without the worries of conventional human society. The Watchers Council are a wealthy group, they indeed have money to pay so many watchers and pay seem well off at that. So why don' they eleviate the burden of the Slayer by 'paying' her enough to get by.

However, in Faiths case, I would suggest her finances are money she took from her Watcher after they died. Maybe he left her some, maybe it was in a coffee jar so she just took it.
But her Watcher none the less seems a reasonable start.

...which brings us back to my demon thing. Do you like your Suvolte rare or well done?

Seriously, the simplest answer would probably be that she had some sort of part time day job or that her origonal Watcher provided her with a "bug out kit" just in case something like Kokistos happened along, maybe a sealed envelope with some money orders and instructions to head for Sunnydale in dace worse came to worst.

I can't really see Faith with a job. So my vote goes with the Watchers Council, since it was before she went evil and they came to take her to England 🙂

Yes, Watcher's Council would be my best bet too. I think Faith would have done anything else but to get a job. But I do like the items from demons she has killed idea, it is possible. It is possible that stole stuff (like in one of the season 3 episodes when she and buffy steal items from a sports store) and pawned it off when she arrived so she could get a place to stay. There are a lot of possiblities though....

Well we know in Angel she stole that guys wallet as soon as she got off the bus but that was when she was bad. However we also know her philosophy on things. Want, take, have. And thats when she was good. She most likely stole what she needed until the Mayor helped her.

Now, you behave there Wicked. It's very possible that Faith was a Slayer by night and Wal-Mart employee of the Month by day!!!!

I don't know - Buffy wasn't making any money on her Slaying gigs - and she wasn't housed up in a flea bit hotel...regardless 18 dollars a day (i'm watching Season 3 again now - side note I still really like The Zeppo)

18 bucks a day - can you imagine if you had to pay that??? seriously that's a lot to throw down in a day!
