Jules:
I can't help comparing this to Buffy and Spike's relationship. It was nothing but meaningless sex, but afterwards they looked at the emotions involved. Spike was there for Buffy whenever she needed him and they spent a night together..not having sex..but being a couple and connecting... (even though it kills me to say it being a bangel fan )
yeah, but you're forgeting that spike loved buffy (in a kind of obcessive way..but love anyway..) way before they had sex..wood knowed faith a couple of days..
sorry, i just can't see tension, quemistry, or passion, whatever it it.. i don't see it in them.. it reminds me of riley/buffy.. slayer with good guy that looked like what she needed..and turning out to be very boring..i think faith needs a good caring guy.. but also with a mix of "bad-boy" redemed..like her..a mix with angel and spike lol.. that would be the perfect pair for faith..

Again, I hate to admit this, being a bangel fan, but Buffy and Riley's relationship had chemestry at the beginning...the trouble with Riley was that he was too human. Buffy was used to dating a vampire with a soul and then later Spike. Buffy hasn't had a relationship with ahuman that has worked.

Faith on the other hand, has. True her former relationships haven't worked out and didn't last very long, but Faith has never had a supernatural boyfriend. Wood would be the closest thing to a supernatural boyfriend she has had...him being the son of a slayer. He has a dangerous streek...nothing like Angel or Spikes or even Faith's but for a human he is pretty dangerous. He fights vampires...the thing that makes me think it would work is the fact that Wood kept Faith on her toes. He teased her. Who has ever teased Faith about anything, everyone is too intimidated by her?

I think it was less that the writers threw her together with Wood than it was just that it was in character for her to go bang the first available guy. I mean, sure she doesn't murder people anymore, but she's still Faith. It's part of her mentality... she's been in prison for a couple years, and most of the men she's come in contact with since have either been evil or she's tortured/tried to torture. So when she got to Sunnydale, it was Andrew or Wood, and Wood happened to be there talking to her.

That said, I think afterwards they sort of clicked. I mean, like people have said, no one else would ever get too close to her, let alone tease her. And she did seem to care at the end of Chosen where he was appearing to be dead.

naaahhh, i just don't see them toguether. i rather see her with buffy or angel that with wood. but the spike thing would be cool as well. they are alike in somethings, and buffy doesen't really deserve spike, so at least faith and him would be happy.....or not....

They didn't have that many episodes with each other and when they did it was to get fleshy with one another. That's a kind of passion. Maybe they were thrown together by the situation but it was more than just horny teens getting it on. After Xander Faith didn't have anything to do with him, but with Wood there was still chemistry after the event.

Spike killed his mother. That situation had nothing to do with reliability...who was he to be loyal to...Buffy?...why?...he didn't care about her. That situation was about revenge and he proved reliable by sticking around after he had been humiliated by his mothers killer to help and save the world. He'd done what he had planned to do...find his mothers killer and try and seak revenge...he failed but stayed to help.

Faith has been known to be insecure but in Season 7 she was the least insecure we've seen her. In the Angel episodes she took charge of the situation around her and led Wes and the others to defeat Angelus and bring Angel back. That carried over to Buffy. She was strong and ready to lead the younger potentials into battle. In season 7 Faith had come to terms with what she had done and took responsibility for them. She'd more or less found herself...there's probably not a better time for her to start a serious relationship.

Wood was interested in Buffy because she was the Slayer. I don't think it was an attraction....yeah they went out on a date but Wood was just gathering information, trying to learn more about what his mother was about.
I can't agree more with that. The two do have more of a chemistry than people seem to want to admit. They may have jumped in the sack early on but neither of them did "anything" to the other while in a vulnerable state. They were two consenting adults. Faith has been known to be a predator, because she enjoys the role. It's what she does as a slayer. That's the power of the slayer; she is a "demon" (at least in strength and agility) that stalks the monsters in the guise of a "girl". It would be natural that that personality trait would carry over to the bedroom.
Frankly yes, Wood has managed to intruige her with his confidence. I don't understand why people think that such a free spirit as Faith, could not possibly latch onto another kindred spirit, like Nikki Wood's boy(not a far step shy of giving him the mystique of a slayer. how many slayer's children do you really think there are?).

I totally agree with you No, I am Doyle.

On a side note, its interesting that Faith seems to be able to form a relationship with Wood but no body else. All her perfectly human relationships have ended badly, Xander being the perfect example. But Wood is the son of a slayer, giving him a supernatural edge.

Buffy is the same. She seems to need a boyfriend who is supernatural for it to even have a chance at working.

So, it seems that if a slayer wants a relationship it has to be with someone of similar background with them.
