So... Does anyone ship Faith & Spike? I've recently watched ep. Dirty girls and the few scenes Faith and Spike had on the ep makes me see potential between the two that was never truly explored.

Spike and Faith together could be great if handled properly, but it would have to be something totally different than what Spike and Buffy had. Spike and Faith should be pure and absolute romance, as sloppy and sweet as that could possibly imply:kissing and cuddling in the movies, one milk shake and two straws, laughing at private jokes that no one else has a clue about. All of the things that Faith never had in her life.

Right.
Think of their ship name - Fike or Spaith! Those both sound like distorted swear words to me.
Anyway, I can't see them together. It'd just be off.

whereas "Briley" sounds like a laundry deeergent, "Woz" sounds like a car wax, "Fuffy" sounds like a stuffed toy, "Bangel" sounds like dime store jewelry, and "Twillow" sounds like a tree. But "Spuffy" sounds positively spiffy.
Valjavertjinn I just thought it would be an interesting ship to explore.

Of course, ship name does look kind of funny looking and sounding.

I don't actively ship it or anything, but I definitely see potential there.

I see them as being more of a fast and furious fling than any long lasting romance, though. Lots of running around doing crazy things and having lots of crazy sex. And fighting. A lot. Which would probably lead to more sex. And lots of bruises. hee.

Sounds like Spuffy S6...

I could see it being like this. Like Spuffy, but shorter and with more ferocity.

I ship them. Hard. Faith is essentially the perfect blend of Buffy and Drusilla. Spike is the guy who would stick around even after she broke his heart a few times. Also their chemistry is off the charts.

Keep looking for that potential; it only gets better the more you explore it. 🙂

Kairos Yes, I believe Spike is that kind of person/vampire. Because he was like that with Drusilla for a while. And then when Buffy kept hurting his feelings.

I definitely think they would shack up a few times. At least.

They definitely have chemistry and view the world in similar ways but in the end I think it would end up the same as Buffy & Angel where the universe does everything to keep them apart.

A very interesting pairing.

Back in 2003 The WB regarded the possibility of "Spike and Faith" spin-off, but Eliza preferred to star in "Tru Calling". But, at least we got one Spike&Faith scene in "Dirty Girls". It was written specially to test their chemistry (and actors passed the test brilliantly).

So... they're both larger than life. Both have tough interior and vulnerable core. Both are "little black dresses of Buffyverse", i.e., in fanfiction, you can ship them with anybody and it works great.

I think thay'd be perfect as a pairing circa "Lovers Walk". So disfunctional. So controversial. So passionate. The stuff real tragedy is made of.

That said, I read and enjoyed many Spike/Faith stories in the post-Chosen world. Anaross wrote brilliant story about them - "Ransomed, Healed, Restored, Forgiven". It's epic.

I wonder if Joss has some ideas about them and if he plans to use them in season 10.

yes, i conpletely agree with that. Cant see any long term relationship just sex and fighting basically! Although they could make it interesting by having Faith actually feel something for him but him not returning her love (possibly because he loves Buffy). This feeling of love would be a new and foreign thing for her but can you imagine how she would react once he told her he liked Buffy...!

Gods, no. Exactly because it would have been ...a lot of bruises.. and more sex... hee... - and because it would have been feeding Spike's obsession with Slayers - young girls whom he can beat up to a pulp and get beaten up in return. And because all that Faith really need NOT is a fling with a guy who is having fun with beating her up - and who gets turned on by it. She has trouble enough resisting these kind of urges within herself - feeding her inner abused child who wants to hit back is probably the worst thing one can do to Faith.

Strangely enough - I would have appreciated Spike-Fred or lacking that Spike-Illyria - because both of them ( ie Fred and Illyria) have supreme self confidence when it comes to being appreciative of ones worth - and therefore are immune to Spike's misogynistic streak that results in his liking to involve his romantic partners in the http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheMasochismTango type of relationship.

Yeah, I can him and Fred, but Illyria lacks sufficient ability for emotion.

I never really thought much of Spike & Faith - I agree that it's too much Spike & slayer obsession. I could see how that could be bad for Faith, with Spike's inability to stop allowing those he loves from continually abusing him (verbally, emotionally and or physically).

I agree that Spike that needs to get past his masochistic tendencies and quit being treated like crap in relationships.

Not really, but I think there was some untapped potential there. It's amazing how little time they actually had on screen together when you think about it.

I don't know about a relationship between them, but I would have liked a spin-off featuring the two of them, maybe centered around Faith but with Spike traveling around with her. I know that's probably a long shot at this point, but I always thought that was a neat idea.

I feel like I have a weird way of seeing things cause...

I honestly see more a friendship, maybe to the extent of being BFFs, rather than a romantic one. It'd be bizarre to see Faith and Spike together. And I don't think it will last, honestly.

I found their scene in Dirty Girls like when long lost friends see each other for the first time. They seemed pretty comfortable together and can relate to each other well. Like friends, not lovers.
(I didn't see any sexual tension at all. Maybe it's just Faith's way of wanting to be in every guy's pants that made it that way lmao xD)

Any Spike/Faith potential was dead for me the moment Spike offered to kill Faith if Buffy wanted to.

Anca if you could just kind of ignore that part or forget it, you could still ship Faith/Spike.😀

Offering to or trying to or even succeeding at killing someone has never stopped a relationship in this show.

On the actual topic, I find the possibility of the relationship interesting. There are several different ways that it could go, and that's what I find interesting about it -- there could be actual feelings or not, either could just be using the other for their own purposes, or there could be a real connection there, with both of them seeking redemption.

Yes, Faith and Angel have a connection about seeking redemption, but the way that they started on that path is very different -- Angel had it forced upon him, while Faith ultimately chose to seek redemption herself. So did Spike, even when he lacked a soul. So, in that way, that connection would be different than the one between Faith and Angel.

Off topic - but I have to comment because I disagree, and it bothers me how utterly twisted that entire paragraph is. You cannot 'force redemption upon' somebody, because in itself 'forcing redemption' is a complete and total oxymoron.

You cannot force somebody to seek redemption, because seeking redemption implies a free will and desire to atone. It requires conscious acceptance of one's sins, understanding that you did wrong, and subsequent resolution to do something about it. As such, a being without a soul cannot either be 'forced into redemption' or 'choose to seek redemption'. Per date, Spike never choose redemption - not without a soul ( since it is impossible lacking a free will - and he lacked free will at the time being implanted with a chip). Nor with a soul - since once he got a soul Spike simply transitioned to a state where he chose to separate his new self from his old one, ('Have a soul now' to quote from him) and firmly assert lack of responsibility for the past crimes. As such souled Spike feels completely guiltless most of the time , and has decided for himself that he is a Champion - thus deciding that he does not need redemption. Act of getting a soul itself is/was also not equivalent with getting to be redeemed - because Spike sought a soul for entirely wrong reasons.

Faith always had a soul, and yes, at some point her life was turned around and she freely chose for herself to seek redemption - but she got help and Angel's support was what turned out to be instrumental in her choosing path of redemption vs path of suicide. And that's why she and Angel have this connection. She has certain rapport with Spike, but it by no means has anything to do with understanding of the need to atone - because see above - Spike has no such need and never had one.
