@caitaintdead from what I remember the biggest arguments for Faith being 18 is that she is renting a place on her own. In most cases you would need to be 18, but again it is entirely possible her landlord didn't actually check is Faith was of age, or he simply didn't care. (After all, Buffy does it at 17).

Yea it was a pretty shitty motel, so maybe hey didn't really care who was staying there as long as they paid on time (which Faith didn't that one time) And shortly after the guy dies, so who knows where the management was. I actually have no problem believing a 17 year old Faith is running around doing whatever she wants without no one noticing. She also mentions that she dropped out of school, but it's not clear as to when. If it was years before or when she became a slayer. But either way she's around the same age as Buffy.

Well, there was the initial impression that she was kinda squatting.. and then wasnt there some sexual innuendo between the landlords son/husband when he came to collect rent or something?

She flirts with him a bit but nothing to suggest that there was anything sexual going on. He says "it's not like I own the place you know." She says, "But I bet you will someday" with a smile, and he replies "Not if I keep listening to broads like you."

Here are a few heavy doses of speculation for you.

I have met a lot of teenagers between the ages of 14-18 that are living on the streets due to bad situations at home. If Faith was at risk of physical and emotional abuse from her mum and physical, emotional and sexual abuse from her mum's boyfriends than I feel like it would be logical that Faith would leave home as soon as she was able.

I would also say that with Faith's upbringing she would know how to get her hands on a fake ID very, very easily. I mean, I didn't exactly live a 'rough' life, but I had a fake ID at the age of 16, why wouldn't Faith be able to get one?

Perhaps she was even able to get The Watchers Council to agree to helping her out with that kind of thing? We are told countless times that Buffy is an exception to all the rules, and we learn that Kendra was taken away from her parents at very young ages. I wonder if it was possible that once Faith's watcher found out about Faith's terrible home life that she was taken away from her family and handed over to The Watchers Council the same way Kendra was. We know that The Council have an extraordinary amount of power over the U.S.A. government as we are shown by them being able to arrange for Giles to be deported.

To be fair the bouncers usually don't care all that much. My friend used to literally use one single piece of ID to get 2-3 people in the bar, we'd just pass it around, wait 5 minutes to go in, and we were golden.

Oh, for bars.. shit yeah. That makes sense. I was thinking for purchasing and what not. Thats funny though. Passing around an ID.

I never had a fake ID, nor did I do this (cause I never went out when I was underage) but I do remember some of my underage friends doing this. Bouncers see so many IDs and they just glance at the d.o.b anyways. But yea I'm sure Faith had a fake ID. I feel like she was probably drinking underage too, we just never saw it. The only thing I'm curious about is when she got her tattoo? I only remember one kid in school that had a tattoo cause his parents signed off on it. Other wise you have to be 18. So that might fit with her having a fake ID.

that's what I meant for booze.. and to vote of course... but did you borrow others to buy? I would think they would look at you more. And it's no damn wonder people get their identity stolen!

I was lucky enough to be one of the first to turn 18 in my group, so I never used a fake ID myself. It's friends that were 17 that got some fake IDs cause they wanted to come out with me. But ya, some used it to buy alcohol with no issues. I guess they just don't really care.
