Faith, and your opinion of her

Faith didn't have any sort of bond with her birth family. Since she was always in and out of school, I imagine she didn't have many people telling her right from wrong until she met her watcher. To her, Buffy seemed overly righteous because Faith was used to always being around the negative.

Her watcher was killed. It took a huge toll on her, and I'm sure she felt everyone in her life was always going to be temporary. When Faith is afraid, her best coping mechanisms are to fight or run away. When she killed that man, I'm sure she thought Buffy was going to reject her. Running away again, she found solice in the mayor, the only other real father figure she's ever had. She knew a kind of love she hadn't had before, even from Buffy.

She doesn't understand the close-knit lifestyle the Scoobies have. To her, people will always be insincere because that is the only experience she's had with anyone.

Faith just needed someone to tell her it's okay to make mistakes. There are people around to love and accept her despite her past. She came a long way by the time Buffy season seven rolled around.

All in all, I really liked Faith from her first appearance to her last.

If the show is about female empowerment, then I think Faith's character is absolutely essential in the spectrum of things.

Most Slayers, apparently, are like Kendra. They are raised from a considerably young age to be the unthinking, emotionless instruments of the Watcher's Council. Kendra is the Superego of Slayers.

Buffy, who has a stronger personality, and who was found too late to be properly "broken in," fight's the good fight of the council - but does it in her own way, and is willing to have her own goals in life apart from The Mission. Buffy is the Ego of slayers.

Faith is the complete rejection of society, patriarchy, service to others. Empowerment through willful selfishness. All that strength not in service of others but in service of animalistic urges. Faith is the Id of slayers.

Now I agree that a Faith that would have been more intelligent, more introspective, more emotionally balanced - but still selfish and evil - might have made for a very interesting villain, indeed. But an Id that is more rational and balanced really is no Id at all. The Id needs something to direct it ... which is why her relationship with the Mayor is so condign.

Anyway, Faith is hot.

Well, I like some episodes with her in Buffy season 3, but she was best in Buffy season 7 IMO.....

I love B but seriously the writers are terrible at crossovers Angel and Buffy always act out of character on eachothers show. Angel reverts back to s3 whipped Buffy boy and Buffy becomes an uber b***

I do agree with this, but we have to remember that they're not that long past their relationship, and I think it's just so incredibly difficult for them to be together, but not together.

Season 7 of Buffy I feel like Faith was just sort of there they didnt really develop her or anything just more fighting with Buffy and Buffy punching Faith several times -_- Not that I didnt love having Faith there. I just dont think they really developed or resolved anything with her character. And the thing with Robin was so unnecessary.

Personally, I wish we could see her attempting to have a real romantic relationship. It wouldn't be all sweet & puppies of course, it would be difficult, but I'd love it. Don't know why Joss et al decided to bring back a lot of that Buffy vs Faith conflict in season 8 (thought some of that had been resolved), but I do like her relationship with Giles developing. I do think activating the Potentials probably did impact Buffy & faith's relationship. It was starting to get better, then Faith had to share her with hundreds of girls.

honestly, and everyone will probably hate me for this... but I never really cared for Faith. She kind of bothered me from the get go... And in season 7 of Buffy she was the other slayer... except I don't really think she had a right to call herself the other slayer. She barely knew what it meant to be the slayer. I don't know what it was.. but I never liked her.

Well Buffy was nasty to both Angel and Faith. I just really dont like her at all in that episode. Buffy just wanted revenge.

I agree I would want to see Faith with someone but finding somone for her is hard because of how damaged she is. I'm glad her and Robin broke up because honestly I dont see how they could have worked. He was just comforting in the face of an apocolypse and a long incarceration. But yeah s8 sort of just ignores all the developments made in s7. One of my many issues with the comics.

I just love Faith, I think the way she was wrote was so skill full with all the "showing" and none of the "telling".

When Faith is bad she is so very bad but you still see her vulnerability, she has clearly been through the mill and this is the reason for her behaviour (Note- Reason not excuse).

One of the most interesting characters in the Buffyverse.

One of the few things about Buffy Season 7 I like is her return. Where she sort of confronts her demons with the First manifesting as The Mayor. She's not crazed and alone anymore but she still has a place in the heart for him as he had a place in his own black heart for her. Buffy didn't often blur the lines between good and bad but it sure did when it came to his and Faith's relationship.

Then of course there's the fact she actually chose Buffy over him... And she only ever wanted Buffy to love her....

So, interesting character and huge amounts of shipping. She is just perfect.

Can't say that I'm really a Faith fan. There's nothing particularly wrong with how she was written or anything like that, I'm just not a fan of that unstable personality type.

To be honest.. I always hated her (I love Eliza Dushku though). She just annoys me and I hate her bitchy attitude and what she did/tried to do to Angel in season 3.
And who gave HER permission to try to kill Angel, when Xander told her about him in the beginning of season 3. If he were a threat, Buffy would have killed him.
I'm just not that fond of Faith..

i don't think the audience was supposed to like her :S or did i miss something? cos i certainly didn't like her...until 'sanctuary' (angel season 1). although i must say that same episode had one of the best buffy quotes of all time and it was against faith.

Faith: Buffy, I'm...
Buffy: If you apologize to me, I will beat you to death.

i know it's completely wrong to love such a brutal comment but i have to say that i never loved buffy more than at that very moment 😀 sarah delivered that line very well.

this one's good too:

Faith: Angel said there was no way you were gonna give me a chance.
Buffy: I gave you every chance! I tried so hard to help you, and you spat on me! My life was just something for you to play with. Angel - Riley - anything that you could take from me - you took. I've lost battles before - but nobody else has ever made me a victim.

Well I certainly liked her all the way through.
But I didn't always like her actions, however I could always separate those from the person. The lost little girl inside if you will 🙂
Faith to me was never inherently evil, she was just lost and fell off track, Buffy's shadow persona in a way - a suggestion of how Slayer power could turn dangerous.

i think faith was overreacting before she killed a man.
and of course. i think when the scooby helped her then she maybe not going insane and trade places with good and evil.

and of course. they all should kicked the new watcher out of their lifes.
sorry for the wesley fans, but until season 3 of angel i found him

sure, faith wasn't an angel all the way. but she's not worth to blame i think.

She's one of my favorites. I love the way she talks. I guess I liked her best when she was all evil I think Her relationship with the mayor was really sweet and touching considering they were killing a bunch of people. She gets a really bad rap by a lot of people, but all the characters in the Buffyverse have been evil at one point or another and she's really the only one who owned up to it and took the legal responsibility. I'm really glad she came back in season 7. It was nice to see her character and how far she's progressed and dealt with her demons. As well as eating Andrew's hotpocket, the look he gave her was priceless.

Faith is my favourite character (aside from Buffy) on both Buffy and Angel, and has been since I started watching the two shows. I have always been intrigued with the character of Faith and how she dealt with what she's done. I grew more fond when she was on her road to redemption, hands down to Eliza Dushku for her excellent performance especailly in 'Five By Five' when she brakes down to angel. I actually found myself disliking Buffy sometimes because of the way she treated Faith, buffy can come across as immature a lot of the time when it comes to faith. Personallly I think Faith deserves her own spin-off at least in comic book form. 🙂

I love Faith just for her "I dont care what people think attitude", I was thrown off when she was working for the mayor but loved her most in Angel and Buffy S7

I hate Buffy in Sanctuary she is so outrageous to both Faith and Angel. I am so glad when Angel punches her.

When she says that line to Faith I wanted to slap her. Its so nasty and so uncalled for. Here is this clearly broken person who is trying to make amends for what she did and your response is I will beat you to death? Real compassionate Buffy. Buffy just doesn't do well with broken people. She should have let Angel handle it instead of getting all jealous and turning into pms Buffy.

Faith rocks! I was so happy to see Angel punch Buffy in that scene. She totally deserved it!

Luckily Angel saw the need to help Faith and was prepared to do that regardless of the cost to himself. Love him for that.

Buffy should have accepted Faith's apology. Throwing an apology back in someone's face in such a harsh way is a horrible thing to do

Uncalled for? If someone betrays me and go on a murderous rampage you bet I would tell them that apologising when you have crossed the line that much means nothing.

Here is this clearly broken person who is trying to make amends for what she did and your response is I will beat you to death?

Buffy can't know for sure if Faith trying to make amends or just trying to trick her. Words are cheap.
