The scenes with Faith at school always puzzle me. I mean, it's obvious that she's not a student (doesn't she mention dropping out?), and she never attends class. But she's always hanging around there (day & night), and she went to Homecoming. Does this bug anybody else? 😉

Maybe Giles tells people that she does volunteer work for him at his library. Which is actually quite close to the truth, when you think about it.

Not as much as Wesley being there. No one found it strange that a foreigner and non-employee was hanging out at the school library all day, talking to young girls?

darn straight I thought that was odd and should've been better explained

You're right about that, I hadn't thought about Wesley! No wonder Snyder's always wound so tight LOL.

It always struck me as funny how much time everyone, not just Faith, spent in the library even after regular school hours without anyone ever questioning it. But, yeah, Faith's comings and goings there did seem kind of strange, as well as an obviously underage girl renting a room in a local motel. If Child Services was on Buffy so hot and heavy in Season 6 about Dawn's welfare, where were they in Season 3 investigating Faith?

Whenever my dad decides to poke fun at the shows I like to watch, he usually mentions Giles and other adults who spend all that time with young girls... ah well.

I had never thought about Faith in particular, but I have thought about how ridiculous it is that no one knew they were in the library after hours lmao.Wesley and Faith did get away with too much though, for not being student or staff

I always assumed, in the case of Wesley, that Giles told the school he was doing some sort of work experience. If I was Giles the story would have been that he was a family friend from England that wanted to do a few weeks work experience as he was studying to be a librarian in England. I have no doubt that the watchers council could have produced the necessary paperwork to make this believable. In the case of Faith I don't find it overly unbelievable for her to be hanging round, but I get the impression that Snyder would have noticed, if no one else.

Well Sunnydale high school was an open campus so it was easy for Faith to come and go and since she was a teenager, it was easy for her to blend in. Wouldve been hellafunny if she ran into Synder and him telling her to go to class or trying to give her detention.

And I am sure that the Watchers Council covered Wesley when it came to being there.

I guess that the scoobies had free periods lol to be in the library all the time.

Well, how many teachers are really going to question students wanting to hang out in the library? My teachers would have been completely down for it. As for Faith being there, and renting a motel, I always thought she was a little older, 16 or 17, in the third season, so it wouldn't be that questionable to rent a motel room. For all the managers knew, she was emancipated from her parents. Also, she could easily pass for 18-20, so it's not like they felt an obligation to call child services. And, most teachers wouldn't realize she WASN'T a student. Sunnydale High is a big school, comparatively. You don't necessarily know all the students.

The Watchers Council probably pulled strings for Wesley.

I've always wondered this too, and also if Snyder or Joyce ever thought Giles had something going on with Buffy. I mean, with all the time they spent together. 😛

hahahah I wondered this too when I first started watching the show. It just gave me the creeps because I always thought Giles was a pedo until like season 6 lol

I never thought about that but i can see how Joyce might have been concerned.

It's definitely not the norm for students to be spending that much time with a male teacher, especially if the students all hanging out with him are all students with daddy issues 😉 I don't think it's exactly something that would have parents up in arms right away though. When I was a drama nerd in high school I used to often hang out in my teachers room for lunch. Sometimes we would even watch movies together because I was interested in old school horror movies and he would suggest movies to watch, but believe me there was nothing going on there! Gross! Funnily enough the rumor actually spread that he was having an affair with my mum!! (also in no way true!)

Joyce actually thanks Giles for spending so much time with Buffy in Killed By Death, so I doubt she is concerned at all.

As for Faith and Wesley - we are talking about a town full of monsters yet few people seem all that bothered by that. Having two strangers in the school pales in comparisons to all the things the students and the teachers managed to pretend not to have seen or done like every woman chasing after Xander in B, B&B or everyone living their worst nightmares in "Nightmares". 🙂

Sorry i didn't make myself clear here. When i say "might have been concerned", I know that Joyce wasn't concerned at all but when you look at the circumstances you wouldn't have been surprised if she did become concerned.

Concerned... Or jealous? 😉

I know what I would be...
