Faith/Buffy fanfic?

Oh man, "So Damn Domestic" - this monstrosity has been around for longer than the actual show. Now that's some dedication. It's...OK, I guess? Basically, a soap opera. It delivers if you're into Buffy/Faith hardcore.

Lol. Well I only discovered it like a year ago, so. I guess I'm into Fuffy hardcore then. lol. Cuz I really like it.

I checked these both out (eventually) and enjoyed them both- couldn't be more different from each other, which is something I like about Fuffy fics- you can do candy fluff, pure smut, or dark, angsty character pieces. 🙂

That can be said of just about every ship fan fiction category in the Buffyverse or anywhere else.

No, not every ship. I have yet to read a Tillow fic that isn't just indulgent fluffyness. Spander ones tend to be very smutty and not that deep. It really is a crap-shoot with some of these fics.

I will also say, having read quite a bit of Buffyverse fiction, that Fuffy produces a lot of great, moving epic stuff that is rarely matched by other ships- at least not non-canon fics.

I honestly have to say that I haven't read very much fan fiction in a long time, so I have no real grounds for disagreement. One of my old favorites, however, that even you might enjoy is still up

It's only slightly Spuffy, not very long, and one of those great scenes that that I always though should have happened. Try it, you might like it. No fluffiness or smut, guaranteed, but you might get a chuckle out of it.

Yeah, I noticed that too - it seems, fan fiction writers always tend to idealize this pairing, also, they hardly ever get Tara right, just mercilessly whitewash her but that's another story.

Buffy/Willow is kinda like this too. The stories tend to be...man, I don't even know how to call it. Let's just say that I've never read a normal-length Buffy/Willow story that I could describe as vanilla, if you know what I mean. It's always whips and chains and cave Buffys and threesomes and public sex and love magics and cat people ( no, really ) and...and I know, every pairing has this sort of stuff but with Buffy/Willow that's, like, the norm.

Buffy/Xander stories are often based around the idea of Xander being a good guy ( as opposed to the vampires of course ) and the whole best friends -> lovers idea. It's cute alright but I don't think I've ever read a truly interesting Buffy/Xander story to be honest. Willow/Xander on the other hand seems much more varied, I've read some good W/X material, so there's that.

It's very interesting, almost as if certain pairings attract certain kinds of people.

I think you nailed it- the ship(s) you like does, to one degree or another, say something about what you like/respond to- emotionally, physically or whatever. Common sense really- we respond to what we can comprehend.
I think the debates come from what the 'thing' is that the ships represent. Are they good or bad things? Slushy, shallow high school romance or damaged, abusive sex romps- pick your poison.

Sidenote: Must go and read some Buffy/Willow fics..😀
Though I did read one Faith/Willow which seemed to echo similar themes. After all Faith is basically a self-hating masochist, Willow has 'dom' written all over her (see 'VampWillow) and likes power. Hardly rocket-science.

If your looking for something that's not just smut, and focuses on other things or characters as well, then...well i don't know how to say this without looking like i'm trying to promote my own stuff, but look for 'Operation Slayers and Non Essentials (1 or 2) on BuffynFaith or type it in google.

You can do almost anything with Fuffy fics-as long as they are slayers 😛

Not a bad thing - it's just something I've noticed. It's not like it doesn't make sense, I mean, both Buffy and Willow are without a doubt into kinky activities so it's almost a logical conclusion.
 
I have read A LOT of Fuffy fanfiction and I agree that it is some of the most well written, epic, and well rounded fanfiction ever. Anything from flut, smut, angst, and anything in between is done really well.

Unfortunately I didn't really keep track of my favorite stories, but I am going to try to remember some stories and go through different websites again to start a recommendation list.

I want to start with a fic I just finished, Swings by PrincessDushku. Has anyone read it? It seriously MESSED ME UP. It was incredibly well written, and angsty as hell, and spanned like twenty years, and at the end I was literally bawling for like twenty minutes. And that never happens to me. I'm still not ok.

Ooh yeah, I've read it. Hits me right in the feels a lot of the time.
I do think its a tad too long, I didn't care for the baby stuff (although the payoff at the end did make up for that) and some of the characters aren't given a fair shake imo (Giles especially).
But it is epic, well-written and Buffy's voice is spot-on a lot of the time. I'm a sucker for tragic Fuffy fics, there's something about 'doomed slayer love' that seems to resonate a lot for talented writers.

I'm usually not a fan of baby stuff either, but this one worked for me. Yeah, some characterizations were a little weird, like Dawn's I felt. But idk man, the tragedy gets me. And I kind have a thing for fics portraying Faith as really messed up, and this is the most intense one I've found. And their connection was just really intense...
