Dushku staked out for 'Buffy'
Aug. 29, 2002

It's good news for "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" fans: Evil vampire slayer Faith is set to return to the UPN drama series. Eliza Dushku has signed on to reprise her role as Faith this season in five episodes of "Buffy" and three episodes of the WB Network's spinoff "Angel," both from writer-producer Joss Whedon and 20th Century Fox TV. Dushku appeared on "Buffy" alongside the show's star Sarah Michelle Gellar from 1998-2000. She also guest-starred as Faith on "Angel." The actress' busy feature schedule has kept her away from the "Buffy" franchise, but now she has committed to appear in the final five episodes of the original series this season. There has been speculation that this might be "Buffy's" last year, but reps for the studio stress that no decision has been made. Dushku's feature credits include "Bring It On" and "Soul Survivors." The actress, who is shooting "Wrong Turn," next appears in "City by the Sea" opposite Robert De Niro and Frances McDormand. She is repped by ICM and the Firm. (Nellie Andreeva)

Zap2It

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Faith is back.

The rogue vampire slayer played by Eliza Dushku will return to both "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and its spinoff, "Angel," in the coming season.

Little is known about how, exactly, Faith will affect the storylines of each show. Dushku is scheduled to appear on the final five episodes of "Buffy's" season and three episodes of "Angel."

When we last saw Faith, she suffered a breakdown while fighting Angel (David Boreanaz) and agreed to turn herself in to authorities for several crimes, including killing a human. Angel visited her in prison in that show's second-season premiere, and she's presumably been there ever since.

The characters on both shows will have some big changes to deal with this season.

On "Buffy," Dawn (Michelle Trachtenberg) will enter a rebuilt Sunnydale High School, and Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) will find a job more meaningful than flipping burgers at the DoubleMeat Palace. There's also the matter of Spike (James Marsters) having his soul back and Willow (Alyson Hannigan) continuing to try to kick her magic habit.

It's also been reported that the season will feature sort of a greatest-hits parade of Big Bads from previous seasons, including the Master, the mayor and Glory.

Angel, meanwhile, has to figure out how to free himself from the watery tomb in which his son Connor (Vincent Kartheiser) and the seriously off-balance Justine (Laurel Holloman) encased him in last season's finale. Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) has become sort of otherworldly being, while Wolfram and Hart's Lilah (Stephanie Romanov) is trying to lure Wesley (Alexis Denisof) to the dark side.

The "Buffy" season premiere is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 24 on UPN. "Angel" debuts Sunday, Sept. 29 on The WB.

All I have to say is YES!!!

Good news indeed! Faith is WAY overdue to return, and news of the Mayor coming back too makes my heart go skipity-skip!!!

They sure are breaking out the big guns for this upcoming season, which kinda makes me think it will be the last. If so, hell of a way to go out!

Thanks for the info!!!!

Actually, I think one of the Big Bads this season might be a shapeshifter, which would explain the coming back of all the past villains and should in no way raise doubts about whether or not the show continues after this season.

Really? That explains a lot, thanks. I was getting worried for a second there! But after trying to get Eliza back for so long, and now having secured her for so many episodes, I hope this doesn't mean the end for Faith?!

Anyone know?

Dude you don't know how happy this makes me!!! ever since faith left i kept sayin she'd come back and people were like youre stupid! lol...but shes comin back!!! MWHAHAHA😀

I don't think they will kill Faith unless they decide to end the series. It wouldn't make much sense to kill her off if they go ahead with a S8, because even though I doubt she'd take a permanent role, they could at least then get her to guest star again.

yea shes too busy with movies to stay as a permanent character, but if she comes back to guest star a few times i would be very happy!

Anyone know if she's due to stay as a guest star in Angel? I mean, they won't kill her in Buffy if she's staying in the spin-off... but then she's only (allegedly) signed for 3 eps of Angel while she's due to appear in the last 5 of Buffy... so who knows? Maybe a big finale's on the cards?

Does anyone know which 3 eps of Angel she's due in? If it's the LAST 3 maybe we have cause for concern.

I don't think ED will take a permanent role on any TV show, I could see her coming back to guest star from time to time, assuming they don't kill Faith. But ED has made it pretty clear she is happy doing movies full-time and I do not expect that to change.

Eliza is way to big to be doing TV full time. Shes been in a bunch of kick ass films in the last 3 years alone! Busy busy badgirl she is. At least we get to see her back!

This may be a bit bad, but something tells me shes gonna die at season end. 🙁

Well, I have read some VERY interesting Spoilers recently, VERY intriguing stuff about the opening ep, detailed!

OMG!!! This is the best news I've heard! With the show ending I've been down but now that I know Faith will be back.. all is good. 😀
