In the same vein as the "Xander & Willow" thread:

It's the beginning of Season 7 and Buffy finds Faith, delirious and half starved, in the high school basement, with no idea how she got there. Later in the Season, Willow is called to LA to assist in restoring Angel's soul, and finds that Spike, with a new soul, has been helping out there. She recruits him to return to Sunydale and help fight the First Evil.

How do you think that Season 7 would have played out differently?

(Fuffies, feel free to fantasize your hearts out)

Faith's prison break could have been a teleportation, courtesy of Willow. If she could move Glory high into the atmosphere, Faith could have been the next time she teleported anyone.

I don't think Buffy would have been as kind and understanding with Faith and she was with Spike. I think one of the Scoobies would of had to be the ones to stand up for Faith and encourage her to pull it together. I just don't see them having anything other that a really fractured and strained relationship. I suppose this is could have set the Scoobies up for the same divide as we saw when B was told to leave.

I think Buffy would of had mixed feelings about Spike being in LA working with Angel without her knowing. Part of her would be proud that he did something good on his own but part of her would be a little hurt that she didn't know about it and that he moved on without her. I'm assuming Spike would have just shown up with the Amulet at the very end and saved the day?

I think Buffy would have called the prison to come get Faith lol

Just imagine for the sake of argument that Caleb and the Bringers somehow abducted Faith (maybe she was being transferred to a minimum security facility because of good behavior, and they hijacked the bus) tortured and brainwashed her. Buffy finds a broken, delirious woman, barely conscious of her own identity, in far worse condition than Spike, when he first showed up, chipped and starving in Season 4, obviously no threat to anyone.

People constantly complain about how easily Buffy forgave her attempted rapist after just a few months. Surely, she could do as much for Faith. (I know, she didn't in the "real" world, but we're talking basically A U here)

Yeah, I can see Buffy having pity on Faith in that situation. If so, maybe that would have brought the Scoobies all closer in s7 as I imagine they would have all been on board with helping Faith recover. That would have changed things a lot, given they would all be working as a team rather than following one or the others orders. Could have been more deadly for the potentials - could have been harder to make the tough decisions...tried to play it safe.

Another scenario could have been Caleb tortured Faith and sent her back to trick Buffy into trusting her then turned on her. That could have been an interesting/crazy storyline. I could see Buffy letting her guard down with Faith if she came to her and apologized for everything that happened, took full responsibility and begged....then once Buffy forgives her she'd turn on her (or just tell Caleb all their plans).

I think before you can say how season 7 would've played out if Spike and Faith had swapped places, you have to know the lead up to it. How different would Faith and Spike's role be pre-season 7? What would've happened differently?

There wouldn't necessarily have had to be a tremendous amount of pre-Season 7 change. Faith would have still been in prison, Spike would still have gone to get his soul.

Mainly, instead of returning to Sunnydale, Spike would have been more or less sane, but tortured with guilt, and desperate enough to go in search of the one other person in the world who might have some sort of handle on being a vampire with a soul. That would put him in LA during the Angelus period, available to help out. Willow shows up, restores Angel, and recruits him.

Faith would have somehow fallen into Caleb's hands prior to the Season premiere, been tortured and brainwashed, then tossed into the basement of Sunnydale High, where Buffy would find her.

Buffy gives those she has the hots for a break, and doesn't even seem to be aware of how arbitrary she is. She even did that in season 3 at least. But then passionate love is as powerful as magic in making people crazy there (I know it happens in real life, too, sometimes to mind boggling degrees, but it seems to happen more consistently in the Buffyverse).
