Faith tested?

Lol yea Fran I honestly just think that suggests that Faith isn't exactly the same age as Buffy, and that seems likely 'cause... why would she be? 😉

I've always thought of Faith being younger than Buffy with all the little sister hints and stuff, but if the casefile says that she's older then that's what I'll be sticking with.

Just thinking now that the little sister hints doesn't have to be a reference to their actual age, but could instead be to their age as slayers, Faith will always be a younger slayer since she was called after Buffy.

I agree. I always thought of her as younger, but not because of the 'little sister' references. It was just cuz....I guess I just thought of her that way! Anyway, I have the Casefiles, so I'm going to go back and check it.

That's what I always thought it meant 🙂 And in that way Faith will always be the "little sister". Their actual age doesn't really have to mean anything...

I always assumed she was older but not by much. So she probably didnt get made to do the test cos her watcher was dead so she had no one to give her the drugs as Wes wasn't around at that time. (Was he?) Plus I cant imagine anyone managing to make Faith go through that without being seriously killed in the process! Even if she wasn't technically bad at the time!

Faith can't be older because then she would have been called as The Slayer sooner than Buffy but She was called after Kendra died.
And maybe the year you saw on Angel was just a mistake, or maybe they have changed buffy's birth date too.
Cause in Charmed they changed the years of The Halliwells during the show, at first Phoebe was born in 1975 but in the 5 season they said Paige was born in 1975.

I don't think that age has anything do to with when slayers are called. Did we actually know if Kendra was younger than Buffy or not? (I can't seem to remember)
I have always been under the impression that age varies from slayer to slayer, and that Faith being older than Buffy when called, isn't something out of the ordenary.

Assuming that Buffy lived unusually long for being a slayer, it's very much possible that Nikki Wood wasn't as young as Buffy when she was called, having a 4-6 (?) yearold child at the time she was killed.

I have always thought of Faith as younger than Buffy, but the more posts I read, it could be entirely possible that she is older than Buffy. I don't think it really matters.

Now, in terms of the Cruciementum. If we saw Buffy have this in season three at her 18th... that means many different possibilties for Faith. She might have had it in Boston, if she is in fact older. Or, she may have skipped out on it, because if I remember correctly, Faith kinda skipped around the US before she came to Sunnydale. Perhaps at the time of her birthday, she was out and about in another state, and the council couldn't find her. Or, if she is indeed younger, then her time would've come during her coma/jail time.

It's hard to say which is the truth. I guess it's up to you.

Also, I do not belive age depends on when you are called. There were many older slayers that were chosen. There are, as we've seen, hundreds, maybe thousands of potentials... it's all a matter of being chosen, no matter the age.

Or maybe Faith was tested, sometime during season 3 even, but we just never saw it. It's not like they make an episode about everything, and Faith was never one of the most important characters to the show.

Well, I don't really think she is older, but if she was, Idoubt she was tested. Can you actually imagine Faith putting up with something like that and then continuing to work for the Council?

I dont think that Faith was ever tested, or older than Buffy. Because when they choose a new slayer, they want her young. And Faith got chosen at the end of season 2. They normally choose them around 15 or 16, now im not saying that Faith was like 15. But I think that the reason that she seems so much older, is because she had a tough life. She has been doing stuff on her own, and surviving by herself for a LONG time. And so she doesnt trust or rely on people like Buffy does. Buffy trusts many people, Faith trusts no one. And I think that's because she has never been given any reason to trust anyone. But I dont think that she was ever tested. Cus after her watcher was killed in front of her, she has pretty much said what Buffy said at the end of season 3, Forget the Watchers Council.

OMG, maybe Faith feels older because she is older?
Again, age has no importance to when slayers are called. You cannot argue that Faith can't be older than Buffy because she was called after her. Because of various reasons and facts:

As seen in season 7 and in the Fray comics, there are lots of "Potentials" running around but only one of them can be called. In Fray's case, no one had been called for yeeeeears. And the potentials in season 7 vary in age, not are all 15. Faith was once a potential, as was Buffy and Kendra, though of different ages.
For some reason, Buffy got called first. Could be that destiny (or the big mystery that is the slayer line) chose her first? Probably. Then Buffy died, then Kendra died and there was Faith in line. I don't believe the counsin said "Oh darn, this girl is 18, we can't call her".
And I do dare to claime that Faith began training before she was called, just like Kendra. Having all them evil monsters and vampires spreading faster than the plauge around the world, the counsil would like to be prepared, just in case.

Then we have slayers like Nikki Wood, we can't know how long she had been slaying when she was killed by Spike or when she appears in 'Tales of the Slayers', but it has been stated more than once that Buffy lived unusually long for being a slayer, maybe because her friends worked some dark mojo on her to bring her back from the dead, but still...
Nikki doesn't exactly look like a teenager, and she's dating a cop. Unless he's a total perv he wouldn't exactly go for jailbait. Oh and Robin is nowhere to see, could be that he wasn't even born in 'Tales of the Slayer'. Which makes Nikki kinda old.
Fray is another slayer that didn't look or "seem" like a 15 yearold when she was called. And her watcher, and that demon (gah can't remember his name) had been looking for her for a while before she was finally called. That could also be the case of a lot of slayers, perhaps Faith?

Probably, the counsil wanted to call pontential slayers in their teens (I doubt they called girls in their 20's), but that's all between 13 and 19. And Faith is only a couple of months older than Buffy. She seems older and is older. Amen.

I wasnt saying that they are ALWAYS that young, but a lot of the time they are. But they never state exactly how old Faith is. So we have no way of knowing if she is 10 years younger or 10 years older, or anything in between. And you cant really judge by the looks, cus Sarah was 27 playing a 20 year old. And I dont know if Eliza is older than Sarah or not, but they never state her age. I was just saying that its possible that shes younger. I mean hell, Faith didnt even have a last name until a couple of months ago.

And as for Kennedys age when she became a slayer, she wasnt chosen because the shadow men wanted her to be. She didnt become a slayer the way all the others before her did, she became a slayer because they decided to change the rule. To do a spell for better protection of the world. And who knows maybe she would have been chosen next, but maybe not. We will never know.

Eliza is in fact younger than Sarah, and Faith is in fact older than Buffy 😀 (yes I'm damn stubborn and I'm not giving up!).
Because her age has been stated, in the Angel casefiles which should be considered cannon since it's the "Official companion to the hit show", as it says on the cover 😉

And besides, I'm not judging on actors looks. Cause that can fool you and who looks like a teenagre nowadays in those teen dramas? You have 30 yearold playing teenagers. When I did judge by appearance, it was based on the comic 'Tales of the Slayers'. I don't believe people draw someone older than they actually are in comics?

Yes, indeed she wasn't the chosen one, but a chosen one. After Buffy died and came back several times, she kinda changed the one slayer-thing. There were two and then lots and lots through a spell. Perhaps Kennedy isn't the best argument to why age doesn't matter since season 7 pretty much screwed everything up 🙂

My point was just that Kennedy was a potential at age 18 so she could have been chosen had everything not been changed. Hence age doesnt matter!

I don't think it really matters what Faith's age is. Her birthdate was said in something, but I would want it from a more official source, like Joss saying it outright like he did with her last name. There are so many birthday screwups in BtVS, peoples' birthdays changed a few times! I think this is maybe one of those personal opinion things, you can think she's however old you want her to be.

True, though I can't recall birthdays changing. All I know about birthdays is: Buffy's born in January 1981. I have always believed somewhere between the 19-22 since she herself said she was inbetween capricorn and aquarius.

And yes, if Joss came out and said that her birthday is indeed december 14 1980, it would be more believable. But, a lot of facts have been established in the show by people that are not Joss, but are considered just as canonical.

While I was vacuuming my livingroom, a rather interesting thought came across my mind. I was pondering over why some people just can't accept Faith being older a possibility. I came to think about this other thread here at BB, the one about Faith and the "true slayer". My conclusion was; Buffy never accepted Faith as the slayer, only as a slayer. Because in her mind and world, she had always been and was always going to be the slayer. So Buffy and everyone around her treated Faith as the other slayer, the little sister, while she really should have been treated like the one and only. I think that this treatment of Faith, and the little siter-comment Buffy made, has contributed to a rather degrading way of looking at Faith and her relationship to Buffy. Having Faith being younger would fit in to the picture everyone already had: Faith, the slayer that wasn't quite as good as Buffy, the slayer that turned complete psycho when Buffy didn't. However, if it is true that Faith is older, the way the slayers relationship comes across to us changes, in various ways, and some people might not like those changes.
