Faith: The Series?

With 'Tru Calling' now sadly dead and buried and Eliza not being signed up to any new projects at the moment, I was wondering if there is any chance of her persuing the Faith spin-off that was much hyped at the end of season 7.

We know her character was one of the main ones that Joss thought would be able to carry her own show, but due to her commitments to Tru Calling she turned it down. But now that the show is finished is there any hope?

I hope so. I think it would be cool to have her travelling around fighting evil with her band of scoobies (Joss initially planned for her to have the ghostly Spike as her side-kick which I think would have sucked, but maybe having Robin or Xander or a ghostly Anya along would totally rock).

What do you guys think, and if it were to be made, which character would you like to see in it and what kind of show would you want it to be...?
 
As much as I like the series and the verse to go on, I really don't know what a Faith spin off will offer... I mean Faith was the darker Buffy, darker slayer, darkest slayer, whatever, but she is redempted, there is nothing more to tell. Besides, I really think Faith is better as a sidekick rather than a major. Otherwise, it will kill the character off.
 
Actually if you think of it, it would be like Angel, she would b seeking redemption for all the things she did wrong, but she would never find it, because the bad always outweighs the good.
 
Although it is hard to see what new and interesting bends in the road Faith's journey might take, I would be very happy to see a Faith spinoff. I think we can leave it to Joss, and hopefully he can re-gather his excellent staff of writers, to provide new things for the character to explore.

It would have to include at least one Buffy or Angel regular to be in the supporting cast for it to really work, providing continuity. Maybe Xander, Willow, Giles, or Illyria seeing as how Wes is (pretty much?) dead and Gunn was mortally wounded. Andrew or someone like that (Gwen?) is not really gonna get done though. Much like Angel built his team around Cordelia crossing over from Buffy, then Wesley.

So my Faith spinoff would have her create a support team of at least one of Xand/Will/Giles/Illyria, a couple of new cast members and with Andrew and/or Gwen making regular appearances. And Joss must be in control of the whole thing. I would so love that!
 
I do not really see it happenning. I am convinced that we will not see any new projects.

If they were going to make a spin-off, I'm not sure they would base it off a slayer again. It's kind of like 'been there, done that'. And with Faith having seemed to change her opinion on life and her actions, it might not really be that interesting.
 
I would LOVE to see a Faith spinoff. I'm a huge Faith fan, and a not so huge Buffy fan. 😉 I think it would work well. But I'm not sure what characters I would like to see her with. Not any other slayers, hopefully. Maybe Spike, Angel, and Illyria. Or Andrew and Giles. Who knows?

I agree. I would really love to see a Faith spin off. I love Faith as a character, I think she's super interesting and Joss could probably make an awesom show about her "“ I just don't see it happening. I am pesimistic that way.
 
Now i LOVE the Faith Character, BUT i'm in the club of 'Is she a Great Support or Possible Star?' and i personally think she is support. Ok she is looking for further redemption, BUT the difference between her and Angel....character wise, Angel was more mature.
I would easily sit and watch the show don't get me wrong....just if i was given the chioce i dont think i'd want it...a Movie...yeah that's cool....series...sorry.
And personally i dont want another....Slayer dealing with her issues while saving the world....or even Souled Vampire looking for his place in the world, trying to make a difference....
A different tack should be used....the Ripper Spin-off(a watchers Diaries kinda thing), Something following a Military, X-Files kinda show, the Witch Chronicles(What Charmed SHOULD have been)......heck even Saved by the Bell - The new Council!!!

Something different but still relevent to the world we have already seen.
 
I want Angel season 6!!!

No spin-off would satisfy me as much as that, it still has so much to offer. I want to know the truth about Wesley's death (I don't believe it was as it seemed). Oz needs a return- hence a great traingle with Nina. Cyborgs, Kate, very angry W&H, Faith, Illyria, Drusilla- still so many open avenues for really awesome plotlines. No spinoff could cover them as well as Angel season 6.

I'm really hoping that we see huge successes in Serenity on DVD, Wonder Woman and Goners. Maybe then the networks would give Joss a second chance.

I STRONGLY agree. But seeing the way things turned out... they wasted the possibility of a better series finale by cancelling it.
 
I loved Eliza in the main character role of Tru Calling. But I don't know if a Faith spin-off would work..mainly because I also think there'd need to be some supporting cast members joining on from Buffy and Angel and I just don't see it happening.

Faith was 10x cooler than Angel!!

I just don't think she could pull off a series of her own that'd be better than Angel season 6.

For the best of both worlds, Angel season 6 with Faith
 
Exactly what I was thinking!!!!!!!! Faith on Angel, with Oz, Nina and Angel triangle and Andrew to bring us some great old humor. Gunn and Illyria could stay and Spike as well. We have us the cast of Season 6!!!!
 
I dunno if having a Faith spin-off would've been a good idea; I think it would've been to similar to BtVS. I mean, they can always change it up a little bit, but it would probably have ended up similar to Buffy, anyway.
 
I would love a faith spin off and would obviously watch it (but then again I'd watch any buffy spin off even if it were crap) but I think it could work. come on Joss would MAKE it work.

I think it would be cool if she was 'rogue' again. perhaps Buffy and the scoobies abandoned her and with Angel gone she has lost her way and goes back to how she was.

Also I said this in another board, it would be interesting to learn about her very mysterious past. What happened to her parents? Her relationship with her watcher? how she was called to be a slayer. All those things she was bragging to the scoobies about doin(in Faith, Hope and Trick) There could be flashbacks to all this! Or even maybe a flaskback based show ould be cool. All set in the past?(its just an idea lol)

I think it could go in loads of directions, and definately think it would work and be watched. I think Faith would make an excellent lead character. and think the character is alot more complex and interesting than the character of Buffy (and Angel) so dont see why it wouldnt work!

Again, I disagree.

The fact that we didn't even know Faith's surname until, I think, the end of the show, means that there was so much more left to explore. Joss could have had shot scenes from the past where Kakistos killed Faith's watcher, or he could have shown what Faith's childhood was like (so therefore he didn't need to make Faith look younger, he could have just brought a small girl in).
Also, since Faith spent most of her last episodes looking for redemption, Joss could have expanded on that story with her trying to rid the Earth of evil in Cleveland...If that is where Giles said there was another hellmouth ::mmm::

Viewers loved Faith just as much as Angel in my opinion and I think she could have carried her own show.

Angel featuring Faith would have taken the spotlight away from her...What would she have done? Become an office-girl in a refurbished Wolfram & Hart?
 
OK I'm gonna jot down my thoughts...I haven't read through this whole post so please don't bite me if I repeat what anyone else has said... 😉

I think Eliza Dushku is an amazing actress and she deserves her own show very much. I think a Faith spin-off should be about as dark or a little darker than ANGEL, and I'm positive Joss could make it incredible while being a lot different from Buffy and Angel. At least, enough to let people feel like it was worth sticking around.

It would be really neat that if they wrapped up ANGEL's finale and brought some characters onto the Faith series over the course of the first season. Of the people I *REMEMBER* being there at the end, I'd want the following people to be in the Faith series:

Faith (duh), Illyria (and later normal Fred too hopefully), Andrew, Spike, Xander (he's not doing KC anymore, after all)...and I wish they'd pay DB and SMG to do the occasional guest spot. Oh I forgot Willow.
 
I think Faith the Series was possible but Eliza chose Tru Calling instead.
 
I'm making a Faith fan fiction now to show how it (roughly) could have gone...I'll show Croft Storm *shakes fist in anger*
